00:00:00Previously, I decided that the teams would be tackling their master en-suites.
00:00:09Another bathroom.
00:00:10The second wet area for the competition.
00:00:12Generally excited about it.
00:00:13All right, we've got to figure out what the we're doing with this bathroom.
00:00:17But it wasn't so wonderful for Jessie and Paige.
00:00:21Fine.
00:00:22Floor to ceiling.
00:00:23Lock it in.
00:00:24Do it.
00:00:25I don't like it, but do it.
00:00:26Now we have floor to ceiling tiles.
00:00:28Christian and Mimi had trade issues.
00:00:30Your new tilers don't have workers' comp...
00:00:32Oh, great.
00:00:33And the boys?
00:00:34What could go wrong?
00:00:35Nah, nothing.
00:00:36Nothing?
00:00:37Absolutely nothing could go wrong.
00:00:38Well, everything went wrong.
00:00:39I'm calling him from Dubai.
00:00:40From Dubai?
00:00:41We don't have a tiler.
00:00:42We don't have a waterproofer.
00:00:43There's another problem with the curbing principle.
00:00:44There's a problem with the curbing execution.
00:00:45It's not even sticking to the poly.
00:00:46Send everyone home.
00:00:47Let's reassess.
00:00:48I'm going home.
00:00:49I'm going home.
00:00:50I'm going home.
00:00:51I'm going home.
00:00:52I'm going home.
00:00:53I'm going home.
00:00:54I'm going home.
00:00:55I'm going home.
00:00:56Let's reassess.
00:00:57I'm going home.
00:00:58See the girls.
00:00:59Tonight, the race is on to finish their master en-suites.
00:01:03If you want a day to go perfect on the block, today is that day.
00:01:08Oh, ****.
00:01:12Chill.
00:01:13Chill.
00:01:14Time.
00:01:15Huh?
00:01:16Just call them.
00:01:17They can replace them.
00:01:18A bit further behind than what we want to be.
00:01:19We'll just get there.
00:01:20It'll be a miracle, but...
00:01:21Yeah, big miracle.
00:01:23Big miracle.
00:01:24Big miracle.
00:01:26Ricky is still chipping away.
00:01:29Carly and Brad's smooth run hits a hurdle.
00:01:32Come here.
00:01:33Nah, it sucks.
00:01:34Thanks.
00:01:37And Christian tries his best to wrangle Mimi.
00:01:40Mimi!
00:01:42We've got a house to do.
00:01:43Yes, I'm doing it.
00:01:46Tools down.
00:01:48There's a lot of praise from the judges.
00:01:50Wow.
00:01:51I love this so much.
00:01:53Oh, I'm so proud of them.
00:01:55But also disappointment.
00:01:57Oh, this is bad.
00:01:59I mean...
00:02:00Oh, my God!
00:02:01There I am.
00:02:02It's a real letdown for such an important room for the sale of the house.
00:02:07And we see the very first ten of the series.
00:02:11What?
00:02:23It's Saturday on the block,
00:02:25and our teams are 26 hours away from revealing their master ensuites.
00:02:30Woo!
00:02:32I think we're having a really good morning because we're having a full-on breakfast.
00:02:36Four of the houses are looking like they're in trouble,
00:02:39but there's one team that's on track.
00:02:42Here you go, honey.
00:02:44The plan for today is finish tiling,
00:02:47bit off, fitting the vanity and vanity top in,
00:02:50putting the door on, and shelf screen selection.
00:02:53Today's gonna be a really good day.
00:02:57Over at house three, the spirits aren't quite as high.
00:03:01I feel like I've lost my dog.
00:03:04You know, it's like that sort of feeling.
00:03:06Everyone's striving to finish their bathroom, and I can't.
00:03:11So, yeah, I don't know if I've been able to swallow that bitter pill,
00:03:15which is the shutdown of my ensuite.
00:03:18It's not even sticking to the poly.
00:03:20We've hit worst-case scenario.
00:03:22What's that?
00:03:23That primer is not suitable for that flooring, the Skyon product,
00:03:28so we have to rip it all up.
00:03:29Okay.
00:03:30What a nightmare.
00:03:31The waterproofing tore up the inside shower wall a little bit.
00:03:35It's not possible to have this finished in any capacity that's going in my room.
00:03:41You're not gonna finish this week. You're out of the running.
00:03:44And after the boys' site was shut down yesterday,
00:03:47all their master ensuite features have disappeared.
00:03:50It's still pretty shattering,
00:03:51even just trying to stand it this morning and last night.
00:03:56Yeah, just knowing deep down that I'm not gonna be able to finish it.
00:03:59It sucks.
00:04:01Down at house four, Carly is already busy tidying up.
00:04:06It's like a hoarder's house over here.
00:04:09How are you this morning, Carly?
00:04:11I am well-rested.
00:04:13I'm not stressed.
00:04:14I'm not stressed.
00:04:16I'm just trying to organise chaos.
00:04:19Are you feeling like you could win this week?
00:04:21I'm feeling like I could finish.
00:04:24Not necessarily win.
00:04:26The judges aren't into my styling, so I'm kind of just gonna cop that, I think.
00:04:31Despite coming under heavy criticism from the judges for their previous rooms...
00:04:35This is probably one of the best things in here.
00:04:37I feel like this room doesn't belong here.
00:04:40Carly and Brad are still sticking with their signature black style.
00:04:43But are pairing it back with a timber vanity and white marble tiles.
00:04:48We're going down our own path because we're looking at the bigger picture.
00:04:51We're in it to win it at the end.
00:04:55Coming off the back of two consecutive wins, it's Christian and Mimi!
00:05:00It's Christian and Mimi again.
00:05:02Christian and Mimi have found themselves behind schedule.
00:05:05And they're gonna need a miracle to have everything installed by tools down in 24 hours.
00:05:11There is so much left to do.
00:05:13We only have floor tiles down.
00:05:15So it's a big, big, big day.
00:05:19There is a lot to do today.
00:05:22All trades on.
00:05:25All hands on.
00:05:26All hands on.
00:05:27All trades on.
00:05:28Hands.
00:05:32All hands on deck.
00:05:33All hands on deck.
00:05:34This morning, again, all hands on deck.
00:05:36We've got our chippies measuring up the porter.
00:05:38Plumber's coming in.
00:05:39The sparky's coming in.
00:05:40Rod from air conditioning putting the duct in.
00:05:42We've got our tilers.
00:05:44They want to try and get that shower wall done because there's a niche.
00:05:47There's a window.
00:05:48There's steps.
00:05:49We're gonna try and keep our plasters on one side, the tilers on the other side.
00:05:54We've got a lot going on.
00:05:55Yeah, today's gonna be a big stretch.
00:05:57We're trying to stay positive.
00:05:58It's good.
00:05:59So you've got plasterers doing the ceiling?
00:06:01Plasterers doing the ceiling.
00:06:02We've got one tiler doing the right-hand side wall.
00:06:05We've got one tiler doing the feature wall.
00:06:07So we're just gonna try and work it all in together.
00:06:09So today, realistically, we've got plasterers, tilers, carpenters, electricians, plumbers.
00:06:16Yeah.
00:06:17All in a small room.
00:06:24Have you ever been in this position before on the block?
00:06:26No, this is the first time.
00:06:28We're a bit further behind than what we want to be, but yeah.
00:06:33Keep the positive spirits up.
00:06:34That's it.
00:06:35Can't be negative, otherwise everyone else feels it.
00:06:37You could get there.
00:06:38Yeah.
00:06:39You could just get there.
00:06:40It'd be a miracle, but...
00:06:41Yeah.
00:06:42Big miracle.
00:06:43Big miracle.
00:06:44Big miracle.
00:06:47How are we feeling today?
00:06:48Excellent.
00:06:49We are feeling excellent today.
00:06:50We're in such a good place today.
00:06:51Yes.
00:06:52It's a Saturday.
00:06:53It's exciting.
00:06:54Although there's still a lot to do, but...
00:06:55It's exciting when we see trades and they're just working.
00:06:57They're just doing ****.
00:06:59Our marble arrived last night in the niche, and then we got the slab sitting there.
00:07:03Say you got a wife with an expensive taste without saying it, all right?
00:07:06Venetian plaster marble, 60 mil stone.
00:07:09You love it.
00:07:10Travertine.
00:07:11That looks really good.
00:07:12We're going to go back to our house and spew.
00:07:14We're going to...
00:07:15Yuck.
00:07:16Good day?
00:07:17Today is a good day.
00:07:18Yeah.
00:07:19Yeah.
00:07:20Yeah.
00:07:33But over at house four, the good vibes have come to a screeching halt.
00:07:37Oh, ****.
00:07:39Their shower screen door is too big.
00:07:42Worst case, we just get a different door.
00:07:44Can't you just wedge the door open and just say, oh?
00:07:46No, because if someone shuts it, it'll explode.
00:07:49So earlier in the week, took a measurement plaster to plaster and took 20 mil off it,
00:07:54not thinking about the tile glue.
00:07:57When calculating the measurements for the shower screens,
00:08:00you need to remember to account for the width of the tiles,
00:08:03but also the thickness of the tile glue that sits underneath.
00:08:08Two, one, three, four, plaster to plaster.
00:08:11Yeah, but they're not going to look at it.
00:08:13They don't know how thick your tiles are.
00:08:15No, well, I didn't either.
00:08:17And I kept saying to Brad,
00:08:18make sure you've got to remember tiles going on each side plus glue.
00:08:22Yeah, which...
00:08:23So Brad took 20 mil off, thinking, yeah.
00:08:25But I should have taken 40 mil off.
00:08:30Yeah, you're not going to be wrong, mate.
00:08:33Glaziers aren't normally wrong.
00:08:35Oh.
00:08:37So, ultimately, who's responsible for taking these measurements?
00:08:41The owners. It was, uh, yeah, Bradley's mess up, but it's OK.
00:08:45He's copped it on the chin, is he?
00:08:47Yeah.
00:08:48It was very frustrating. Like, everyone's put in 100-and-something percent, and...
00:08:53We were tracking too well, but you know how there's always something.
00:08:56And they've all delivered the product,
00:08:58and it's that one thing that now is going to bring everything down.
00:09:02Yeah.
00:09:03So that's what...
00:09:09Come here.
00:09:10Oh, it sucks.
00:09:11Babe?
00:09:13Don't worry.
00:09:14So close.
00:09:15Don't worry!
00:09:19He did get really down about the shower screen door.
00:09:21Like, every time, I was like, just, it's fine.
00:09:23Normally, I would blow up and be like, how could you make that mistake?
00:09:26But under the pressure and knowing that it can't be changed, I was like, don't worry.
00:09:30Who cares?
00:09:33Don't worry about it.
00:09:35I was 15mm too big.
00:09:40I've never had that problem before.
00:09:44Back at house two, they have the opposite problem.
00:09:47Their shower screen opening is too small.
00:09:50It is ****.
00:09:51Too narrow?
00:09:52Yeah, too narrow.
00:09:53Tell me that.
00:09:54They're going to come in here and say, oh, it's narrow.
00:09:56Yeah.
00:09:57Basically, the supplier, Betsy's Glass, who we got the glass from,
00:10:01they've given us the wrong size.
00:10:05Yeah.
00:10:06So the opening is too small.
00:10:09They've **** up the size.
00:10:11Who ordered the size?
00:10:13I just told them 1870 from wall to wall.
00:10:15I said two fixed panels either side.
00:10:18With a compliant opening.
00:10:19This is a compliant opening.
00:10:20You think the Blazier would know.
00:10:23But what Grant didn't do was provide measurements for each piece of fixed glass
00:10:28and the shower screen door separately.
00:10:33The problem that's happened is Grant's just given the overall dimension of the room,
00:10:37sent it to Betsy's and just hoped for the best with no design or anything.
00:10:41So that's his fault.
00:10:42Normally you draw up what you want with the opening sizes and the end panel sizes
00:10:47and then you get it signed off.
00:10:49He's missed that step, so this is on him now.
00:10:54Shoot, shoot.
00:10:55Time.
00:10:56Just call them.
00:10:57They can replace it.
00:10:58Come on.
00:11:02So ultimately, who's responsible for taking these measurements?
00:11:06The owners.
00:11:07Idiots, honestly.
00:11:10To me, the side panels look bigger than that opening, so it's not even three equal panels.
00:11:13Grant and Courtney knew about it and they were trying to hide it.
00:11:16Like, anyone can see it, so I don't know why they just didn't come and tell us.
00:11:20Always f***ing something, honestly.
00:11:22I sent him the email on f***ing Monday.
00:11:26But that's not your fault.
00:11:27Like, I know, yes, it could be.
00:11:28It's just frustrating.
00:11:29But it's something that we can fix.
00:11:30Did they send something to you to sign off on, though?
00:11:32No.
00:11:33So that's what you probably need.
00:11:34You need to be signing off on things like that.
00:11:37I'll get them to change it before I pay them.
00:11:39We'll fix it after the fact.
00:11:41After this judging.
00:11:42Otherwise, I don't get paid.
00:11:44That half a point again.
00:11:46Stop it, Dan.
00:11:47Right.
00:11:48End game, Dan.
00:11:49End game.
00:11:50End game.
00:11:51We're used to losing by half a point.
00:11:53Yesterday, the boys went five rounds with their en suite before being KO'd.
00:11:58But Ricky is determined to keep fighting.
00:12:01Mate, it's good to see you doing something.
00:12:03Yeah, I've got to do something to make me feel better, mate.
00:12:05Yeah.
00:12:06At least if I can try and get the ceiling looking nice.
00:12:08Yeah.
00:12:10Dan comes in and he had a solution for that waterproofing issue.
00:12:15Look, mate, yesterday we all had a bit of a look at it all.
00:12:18Yep.
00:12:19And see what we actually can and can't do to rectify.
00:12:22Yep.
00:12:23ADA just lets us rip it all out.
00:12:25Probably the solution was a bit more hectic than what I was hoping.
00:12:28Tearing out the whole lot.
00:12:30Fair enough.
00:12:31Yeah, that's cool.
00:12:32Yep.
00:12:33All right, straight.
00:12:34All the plaster.
00:12:35All the waterproofing.
00:12:37Window.
00:12:38Whole lot.
00:12:39Back to true core.
00:12:40Back to true core.
00:12:42Back to where we were Tuesday.
00:12:44You're taking it pretty well, to be honest.
00:12:45I'm deflated.
00:12:47I'm not going to be able to compete to win en suite week,
00:12:49which is, I wanted to win a bathroom and en suite on the block for my whole life.
00:12:54And now I can't even compete.
00:12:56So it sucks.
00:12:57It's like doing an injury and not being able to play on the ground here or something.
00:12:59Yeah.
00:13:00Nothing to do with you, to be honest.
00:13:02That's hard as well, though, mate.
00:13:04Say you smash this demo,
00:13:06you could start re-plastering it if you wanted.
00:13:08Oh, really?
00:13:09Yeah.
00:13:10Although we had to go full demo,
00:13:11I still had hope that we might be able to get potentially sheeted,
00:13:14stopped up and ready for waterproofing.
00:13:18I better apply for my demo permit.
00:13:20I think so, mate.
00:13:31We're all good in the hood.
00:13:33It just so happened that a plaster was finishing up soon at house two
00:13:37and Ben the legend chippy from house four came over.
00:13:42Mate, there's a chance we could have walls.
00:13:44So I was pulling all the favour strings.
00:13:47Yeah, let's sheet her up.
00:13:48Legend.
00:13:49Beautiful.
00:13:50Good stuff, boys.
00:13:51We were due for something to go right, you could say.
00:13:54After 4,000 things went wrong for us on en suite week.
00:13:58Mate, I reckon it's the best attitude I've seen on someone.
00:14:00Like this...
00:14:04To be in this position and you're still having a laugh.
00:14:06Yeah, mate, got to.
00:14:07It's laugh or cry, man.
00:14:08Yeah.
00:14:09I'd much rather laugh.
00:14:10It's better for telly.
00:14:11Yeah, true.
00:14:13You know, call it pity.
00:14:15You know.
00:14:16But it's not as if we haven't helped each other.
00:14:17Nothing more attractive than a man in despair.
00:14:20We're back on, fully stripped.
00:14:22Just getting the plaster back on now.
00:14:25Hey, look, see any of these signs?
00:14:26No.
00:14:30Plenty of comedians around here.
00:14:33Somehow, I managed to get the room demoed, sheeted,
00:14:39stopped up all same day.
00:14:44After a hearty breakfast,
00:14:45Jessie and Paige are on track to knock off by lunchtime.
00:14:49We did it.
00:14:50I didn't think...
00:14:51We're doing it.
00:14:52I didn't think we'd be here on the Tuesday
00:14:53when we're having issues with getting our true core in time
00:14:56because of me messing up again.
00:14:59So, if you want a day to go perfect on the block,
00:15:03today is that day.
00:15:05All we have to do is hang the door,
00:15:07put a toilet roll holder on,
00:15:08plumbers will come in,
00:15:09shower screen and caulking.
00:15:11Wow.
00:15:13Do you want to know what the time is?
00:15:14What's the time?
00:15:1512.38pm, not a.m.
00:15:20Dan came in, foreman Dan,
00:15:21and he said, I will eat my words.
00:15:24I thought you were no chance this morning.
00:15:26And look at you guys now,
00:15:27you're probably going to finish.
00:15:29I'm impressed with where you've gotten to right now.
00:15:32I can see the energy shift in this room.
00:15:34It was pretty negative and down this morning
00:15:36and now the spirits have risen.
00:15:37Everyone's happy, they're smiling.
00:15:39There's light at the end of the tunnel.
00:15:41And if they get over the line,
00:15:42which I think they will,
00:15:43it could be three in a row for them.
00:15:45Big comeback here.
00:15:48That's it.
00:15:49Very, very impressed.
00:15:50They have nearly done all the tiling.
00:15:52The plastering's finished.
00:15:54The electrical's just finishing off.
00:15:55There's a little bit of plumbing.
00:15:56I think they're going to get over the line.
00:15:58This is incredible.
00:16:00Epic effort.
00:16:01I can't believe you got that far.
00:16:02I can't believe you got as far as you have.
00:16:04Credit to all those boys in there.
00:16:06You just never give up on the block
00:16:07because you just never know
00:16:08how much you can achieve in a day.
00:16:10And we've witnessed it right here in House 5.
00:16:26Hi, how are you?
00:16:32So I rolled in after coming back
00:16:34from seeing Chelsea Tiller.
00:16:36Oh, hey, little girl.
00:16:37Hey.
00:16:40Told Ricky to jump in on board
00:16:42and I had a special surprise
00:16:44that he obviously knew was coming,
00:16:45just didn't know how and when.
00:16:47After having to let their builder go this week.
00:16:49Breaking their trust twice,
00:16:51especially in a few days,
00:16:52it's done.
00:16:53So, mate, look,
00:16:54I want to say thanks for everything.
00:16:57The boys are off to pick up their new builder.
00:16:59This could be the...
00:17:03start of a new beginning.
00:17:04And we rolled down to the airfield.
00:17:06I haven't picked up a builder
00:17:08from a direct helicopter drop-off for so long.
00:17:11Never?
00:17:12That's been ages.
00:17:13It would have been a while ago.
00:17:14It seems to be our ideal moment of transportation.
00:17:17Look, I know the place well.
00:17:18Anytime we need to go somewhere
00:17:20or get someone in,
00:17:21we just call the chopper.
00:17:22He's going to land right there on that green patch.
00:17:24Do you know what time he should be coming?
00:17:26ETA 1500.
00:17:28Can your GPS track him?
00:17:30You probably can, choppers.
00:17:42I don't know how many movies that I've seen in my life
00:17:45where they're in major need of reinforcements
00:17:48and they chopper them in.
00:17:50So it felt like quite movie-esque.
00:17:55Seeing your rescue coming.
00:17:57The eagle has landed.
00:18:04Now, you might remember Duncan from season three,
00:18:07all-stars in 2013,
00:18:10or as my personal builder a couple of years ago at Gisborne.
00:18:14We got Duncan dunking in.
00:18:16And there he arose, dunk, you know,
00:18:18launched out of the chopper.
00:18:19I could almost hear the music.
00:18:21A hero comes along
00:18:24with a stick to carry on
00:18:28And you cast your fears aside
00:18:32And you know you can survive
00:18:36I was just slowly running across to dunk safely
00:18:39after the propeller stopped spinning.
00:18:40There was love all around.
00:18:41I didn't want to let him go.
00:18:43And a hero comes along
00:18:47Yeah, sorry about the mess.
00:18:49Good to see nothing changes.
00:18:50Going straight to the block, are we?
00:18:52Yep.
00:18:53By the pub for one.
00:18:56This is like a premature quarter of the competition.
00:18:58You know, the next three or four weeks are massive.
00:19:00You know, if we can get a couple wins here
00:19:02with these guys on deck, this could change the competition.
00:19:05And rather than making a long-term commitment,
00:19:07these gentlemen have agreed to give this new relationship
00:19:10a test run for a few weeks.
00:19:12Poor Ricky really sounded like he needed a hand.
00:19:17I know what it's like to be in a place on the block
00:19:20where it's just not going well.
00:19:22And so I thought, look, three to four weeks, he said.
00:19:25So for three to four weeks, I think I'll come down
00:19:28and experience being the builder for a contestant.
00:19:31I've never done that before.
00:19:32The only thing I didn't want to do is paint.
00:19:35And I don't have to paint being the builder for a contestant.
00:19:41Carly has also left the block
00:19:43and is picking up some towels for their en suite.
00:19:45This one's quite nice.
00:19:46Yeah, more of the wheat, I think, would be better.
00:19:48Yeah, definitely.
00:19:49Yeah, just two towels, thank you.
00:19:51Two towels.
00:19:52Precise shopping trip.
00:19:53Get in, get out.
00:19:55Thank you for your help again, Katrina.
00:19:57Really appreciate it.
00:19:58Oh, good.
00:19:59So Katrina just sorted me out and in and out.
00:20:04From the moment we woke up at five to now,
00:20:08everything's just rolled on so smoothly.
00:20:10And so smoothly that we even had,
00:20:13I may have set up putting the AFL on our Samsung whiteboard.
00:20:17Is that Wi-Fi?
00:20:18Yeah.
00:20:19And we had a really pleasant visit from Dan.
00:20:22Biscuits, foodie.
00:20:24This is what Saturdays are about.
00:20:30Having our little crackers and cheese.
00:20:31I see Dan put it, like, ate some cheese.
00:20:33He's like, oh, that's good cheese, isn't it?
00:20:35Yeah, and then he's like, where are these crackers from?
00:20:37They're good to Quinn's taste.
00:20:39A little olive?
00:20:40I don't know.
00:20:41Wouldn't say no to a wine.
00:20:44Does a Saturday get better than this?
00:20:46I think it does.
00:20:47No.
00:20:48I'm enjoying it.
00:20:49Welcome to bathroom week.
00:20:50Week three on the block.
00:20:51Bathroom schmathering, this is easy.
00:20:55After making a huge comeback this morning,
00:20:57Christian and Mimi are still on track to finish their en suite.
00:21:01We're going to have a break?
00:21:02Like a dinner slash drink break?
00:21:05No drinks.
00:21:06Huh?
00:21:07No drinks.
00:21:08I'm having one.
00:21:10Are you going to finish now?
00:21:12We're 100% finishing now.
00:21:14We're going to need all hands on deck.
00:21:16Maybe no alcohol.
00:21:17Maybe no.
00:21:19But before we start, we try to, like, you know, catch up,
00:21:23have some dinner, have a drink, and then get back into it.
00:21:28I liked your drink with Mimi.
00:21:33What happened?
00:21:34It's something about, I don't know,
00:21:36when the liquor hits my lips.
00:21:39Give me more.
00:21:40Hurry up, let's go, Mimi.
00:21:42I'll meet you there.
00:21:44I swear to God I'll meet you there.
00:21:46Christian, she's going to be home by 8.14.
00:21:49No, I push it to 8.29.
00:21:51When?
00:21:52He's at 8.15.
00:21:53How's he going to get me?
00:21:54Come and find me.
00:21:55Mimi, don't push it.
00:21:58That's when Hurricane Mimi arrives.
00:22:02She goes, I'll be at home at 8.15.
00:22:05Okay, go there, start grouting.
00:22:08And then, look at the time, it's 8.15.
00:22:18I'm like, all right, I'll give her a few minutes, whatever.
00:22:20Oh my God, can we play?
00:22:23Yeah, after a review.
00:22:24Check it.
00:22:258.30, nothing.
00:22:26So I ring her.
00:22:27Oh, that looks like something else.
00:22:33No answer.
00:22:34I messaged her, I was like, is this a joke?
00:22:36Oh my God, he just messaged me saying, is this a joke?
00:22:40No answer.
00:22:428.45, I walk over there, I'm like...
00:22:45Obviously, I'm angry.
00:22:46I said, Mimi, we've got a house to do.
00:22:49Yes, I'm doing it.
00:22:51You're sitting there, hurry up, I'm being serious.
00:22:53I'm coming.
00:22:54You were meant to be there half an hour ago.
00:22:56I don't want to have an all-nighter again, that killed me last week.
00:22:59Go on, go on.
00:23:00Okay, I'm coming.
00:23:01Go on.
00:23:02I think it's a joke.
00:23:03Seriously?
00:23:04Drinking all night, what have we got to do?
00:23:06I'm starting to stress on Mara, okay,
00:23:08because we need to do all this work,
00:23:10and we've only got this much time.
00:23:14It's not like we're not going to finish,
00:23:16do you know what I mean?
00:23:17He probably doesn't want to stay up till early hours.
00:23:19If she said, I'm going to go have a nap,
00:23:22I'll come back in half an hour.
00:23:33I'm going to go have a nap.
00:23:36SNORING
00:24:01So the steps, either to shave, like your legs,
00:24:04or to just sit down and maybe cry after not winning a week.
00:24:12She said, I'm going to go have a nap,
00:24:14I'll come back in half an hour.
00:24:184.30 in the morning, out comes Mimi.
00:24:25What's it called?
00:24:26Resurrected.
00:24:27Resurrected.
00:24:29From the wine fridge.
00:24:31Christian didn't sleep, I did, I fell asleep,
00:24:33and that's why we're behind.
00:24:36So, that's all my fault.
00:24:41Yeah, so it's probably about four and a half hours till tools down.
00:24:45Mimi's just risen from the dead.
00:24:47You called?
00:24:48Yeah.
00:24:52Just bloody exhausted.
00:24:56How are you feeling this morning, Mimi?
00:24:58I'm feeling okay.
00:24:59I just feel, like, disappointed that I let Christian down.
00:25:03But I still think we're going to be okay.
00:25:07How did you let him down?
00:25:09By going to bed.
00:25:12I let him down by going to bed when I shouldn't have.
00:25:16Yeah, we just had high hopes of finishing,
00:25:18and yeah, we're just a little bit behind.
00:25:225.30 in the morning, out comes Christian.
00:25:27Morning has broken
00:25:31Like the first morning
00:25:35Blackbird has flown
00:25:41Morning, guys.
00:25:42How are you?
00:25:45Grant's asleep.
00:25:47He just went to sleep.
00:25:49****
00:25:50I need a coffee.
00:25:56Anything you're not too happy with?
00:26:00Is there anything we're not happy with?
00:26:02The door not being there.
00:26:03Stop it.
00:26:04That's going to hurt a little bit.
00:26:06Did you have to bring it up?
00:26:09Our main goal this week was to finish the bathroom,
00:26:12because obviously two weeks ago we didn't.
00:26:14So that's the goal I had in mind,
00:26:16and we've accomplished that, so...
00:26:20I feel like a winner today already.
00:26:22Week three, bathroom master en suite.
00:26:24Yeah.
00:26:25Easy.
00:26:26And it's beautiful, it's serene, it's relaxing,
00:26:28it's everything I want a bathroom to be.
00:26:31But we've got walls.
00:26:34Pretty flat this morning.
00:26:37Yeah, not even a coffee from a cafe
00:26:40can cheer us up this morning.
00:26:42Last night was flattening,
00:26:43knowing that we had to push through late into this morning
00:26:47with no ability to be able to finish.
00:26:50But instead of drowning their sorrows,
00:26:52last night the boys decided to take a more proactive approach.
00:26:57They jumped back into their week one bathroom
00:26:59to revisit some choices that the judges were less than impressed with.
00:27:03The colour palette is mismatched.
00:27:06The gluey grey doesn't work with that green.
00:27:09I believe it should be white.
00:27:10We've got different intensities, so it's too much.
00:27:14We took on some of the feedback from the judges
00:27:16and make some changes to the first bathroom that we've done
00:27:19and show them that we really do care and we're not just giving up
00:27:22and we're going to give it our all.
00:27:24We're going to use the time wisely
00:27:25and take the opportunity to spend it doing something
00:27:28that was meaningful.
00:27:32No pub last night,
00:27:34but then we heard everyone else partying.
00:27:36Oh, really?
00:27:37Yeah.
00:27:38Yeah, and painting.
00:27:40Listening to everyone else laughing and caring,
00:27:42I'm wondering how they've got...
00:27:44Time?
00:27:45How they've got any time to do it, but...
00:27:47We didn't have time and we were the furthest ahead all week.
00:27:51So far away.
00:27:53We're rushing to finish, whereas the other weeks we were already done.
00:27:58I don't think we'll get our caulking done.
00:28:01But that's it.
00:28:03That minor detail.
00:28:06It's not minor.
00:28:07It's not minor.
00:28:08It seals the whole room.
00:28:13All right, quick, make it perfect.
00:28:38It's all right.
00:28:53Full stop.
00:28:55It's done.
00:28:56Nice.
00:28:57You did it.
00:28:58Well done.
00:28:59Another week done.
00:29:00Yay.
00:29:01Nailed it.
00:29:02Get the plastic chair out, that's not part of the styling.
00:29:04Give me a kiss, that's part of the styling.
00:29:07You missed a bit.
00:29:08Shut up.
00:29:09When?
00:29:10No, I'm kidding.
00:29:11I mean, we gave it all we had,
00:29:13and yeah, we fell just a little bit short,
00:29:16but I'm sure the judges will see what it was meant to be, and...
00:29:20Yeah.
00:29:31Hello.
00:29:32Hello.
00:29:34Hello, hello.
00:29:35Hello, hello.
00:29:36G'day, g'day, g'day.
00:29:37How are you going?
00:29:38Good.
00:29:39Ricky and Hayden, colour, mate.
00:29:41Look at you.
00:29:42You look like you're auditioning for maths in 1970.
00:29:46Got to be cheered up from the feet up, Scotty.
00:29:50Welcome and congratulations on mostly finishing another week on the block.
00:29:56Bathrooms can be brutal, can't they, Ricky and Hayden?
00:30:00Yes, sir.
00:30:01Absolutely brutal.
00:30:03A lot of moving parts, a lot of details.
00:30:05You got all those measurements that you have to get exactly right,
00:30:09and a few of you fell into that trap this week, didn't you?
00:30:12Yeah.
00:30:13Yes.
00:30:14Maybe you all need to do another bathroom so you can deliver the perfect one.
00:30:17Yes, please.
00:30:18Yes, please.
00:30:19Maybe I should give you a bathroom next week.
00:30:21No!
00:30:23Maybe not.
00:30:24What I can do is give you some feedback from the judges.
00:30:34You're unbelievable.
00:30:44You're unbelievable.
00:30:46House one, you're up, Jessie and Paige.
00:30:51We had so much fun this week.
00:30:53Everyone remained really positive and it was a good time.
00:30:57We were struggling last week about what is the name of our style.
00:31:01So what is it?
00:31:02Modern colonial.
00:31:03Do you want to do floor to ceiling?
00:31:05No.
00:31:06Floor to ceiling looks great.
00:31:08Let's just do that.
00:31:10All of them fine.
00:31:11Yeah.
00:31:12Fine.
00:31:13Floor to ceiling, lock it in.
00:31:14Do it.
00:31:15I don't like it, but do it.
00:31:16Stop doing things and then changing.
00:31:19How has this led to us being in this situation?
00:31:22Because now we have floor to ceiling tiles.
00:31:27I had to make the decision of sending my blasters home.
00:31:31We don't have enough time to do floor to ceiling.
00:31:33For now, we just need to think about the short picture, which is...
00:31:37I think that's kind of naive.
00:31:39No, I don't think so.
00:31:40Okay, that's okay.
00:31:41I just disagree.
00:31:42So I think we're going to make it.
00:31:44Yes.
00:31:45First bathroom, we're going to make it.
00:31:47I like it.
00:31:48We didn't not finish anything.
00:32:02Great size.
00:32:04For a master en-suite, this is an amazing size.
00:32:07There are lots of common elements with the first bathroom
00:32:10we saw on week one that did not work.
00:32:14But they work in here.
00:32:17There are details in there that they've simplified in here.
00:32:21This rail, it's a little bit different.
00:32:25There are details in there that they've simplified in here.
00:32:29This rail, much thinner.
00:32:32There's no handle.
00:32:34That tile, much simpler.
00:32:37Simplifying those details lets these traditional details really sing.
00:32:42This is more sophisticated, fresh.
00:32:44It's elegant.
00:32:46Oh, I'm so proud of them.
00:32:47Pardon me, can we just not glaze over the fact?
00:32:49This is finished.
00:32:50We have a finished room.
00:32:53This is a much better layout than the first week.
00:32:56If you look at the planning in here, the door is central still.
00:33:00The space is about the same dimensions,
00:33:03but the toilet is tucked behind the hinge.
00:33:05You walk in to open space.
00:33:07You have open space in front of the vanity,
00:33:09through here into the showers,
00:33:10and then you have all that ample space for the double shower spaces.
00:33:14So in terms of layout and planning, this is absolutely successful.
00:33:19You said today, I love this bathroom.
00:33:22Really?
00:33:23Really.
00:33:26There are a couple of things that I would like to point out
00:33:29and for them to take away as well.
00:33:31One, why do you do the switching and everything outside?
00:33:35Having your switches on the outside of the ensuite is a major flaw.
00:33:40Because how many times have you jumped in the shower
00:33:42and you forgot to turn the fan on, for instance?
00:33:44Yeah.
00:33:45You don't want to be reaching out, trying to turn it on and off.
00:33:47It is something that these contestants need to be aware of.
00:33:50They're electrical work.
00:33:51We've seen it a couple of times now.
00:33:53It's not up to standard for a multi-million dollar property.
00:33:56Okay.
00:33:57And also, I don't know how many times we have to tell people
00:34:00that you've got to put a light over the basins.
00:34:03You just have to because we've got a little bit of natural light there.
00:34:06We've only got wall sconce lighting here,
00:34:08so you have to do this eye here and this eye over here.
00:34:12Yeah.
00:34:13The size of the door could have been smaller and a slider.
00:34:16In an ensuite, you don't have to have the widest door.
00:34:19You can have a 720.
00:34:20Even a 780 would have fit.
00:34:22Yeah.
00:34:23This is like 820, 860 or something.
00:34:25It's a big door.
00:34:26Yeah, it's a big door.
00:34:27A smaller door could have made room for the switches on the wall inside.
00:34:31I haven't always been a fan of these shower screens, but it works here.
00:34:36It does, doesn't it?
00:34:37It works, and I'm really excited to see that
00:34:39because a lot of people use these in the wrong setting,
00:34:43and I think it really works here.
00:34:45With a master ensuite, this is a real money room.
00:34:48This is where buyers judge a house, master ensuite, kitchen,
00:34:53and this here is ticking all the boxes for a buyer.
00:34:57Double shower, double basin,
00:34:59and with a slight elevation in terms of its finish.
00:35:02One thing I just want to address from today,
00:35:05like we are in the main bedroom, and this is the main bedroom ensuite,
00:35:10and we're so used to saying master ensuite,
00:35:13but do you think that's the right term to use in these days?
00:35:16My opinion is this.
00:35:17There are undertones of colonialism and sexism,
00:35:20and I personally, I refer to it as a main bedroom.
00:35:23If something doesn't make someone feel good,
00:35:25and you can change it, change it.
00:35:27Yeah.
00:35:28Well, no one's the master of main bedroom,
00:35:30so this is the main bedroom ensuite.
00:35:33They made an executive decision,
00:35:35and from now on, they are all calling it the main ensuite
00:35:40to go with a main bedroom.
00:35:42We've had this conversation in the last few weeks,
00:35:45and especially in week one,
00:35:46I was very, very worried about their creative direction,
00:35:50their aesthetic direction.
00:35:51This, though, I feel like is the best of the bedroom from last week,
00:35:55the best of what could have been in week one in that bathroom,
00:35:59and I feel like if this is a direction creatively
00:36:03they're comfortable with, I can see it working if they do it well.
00:36:06Darren thinks you got it exactly right this week
00:36:09and called your room both chic and sophisticated.
00:36:13He thinks if you continue this style throughout your house,
00:36:17it's going to be a really big success.
00:36:21It's daunting putting your style out there
00:36:24and being judged on it when, oh, it's just crazy.
00:36:28Especially when we've been so unsure of what our style is.
00:36:31Yeah.
00:36:32To get the confirmation,
00:36:34the acknowledgement of what our style is,
00:36:36it feels really rewarding.
00:36:38Yeah.
00:36:43It's time for you to decide
00:36:44which contestants you think have created this week's winning room.
00:36:48All you have to do is head to the Block website now
00:36:51to cast your vote.
00:36:52And don't miss the results a little later in the show.
00:36:56OK, Courtney and Grant.
00:36:59Hello.
00:37:01What?
00:37:02Hello.
00:37:03She was just saying hello again.
00:37:05She gets weird.
00:37:11This week was...
00:37:13As planned.
00:37:15We're trying to tie it into the other bath,
00:37:17stick to that, like, Mediterranean style.
00:37:19Travertine checkerboard tiles on the floor,
00:37:21We've got a double shower.
00:37:23Oh, and Venetian plaster.
00:37:26We can't do a curve in this room
00:37:28only because it would have closed in the space a bit too much.
00:37:31So instead, we've incorporated that curve into a recessed mirror.
00:37:35Is that removable?
00:37:37No.
00:37:38Have we insulated behind it?
00:37:40We're going to have to cut a hole
00:37:42and then somehow put that back in to visually see it.
00:37:46I'm not going from checkerboard to finger tiles.
00:37:49We're not going to do now one more.
00:37:51But why can't you?
00:37:52Because it'll look stupid.
00:37:54Nobody does that, though.
00:37:56Why do you have to be like everyone else?
00:37:58It's not a show home.
00:37:59Trust me, it will work.
00:38:00Considering how good the competition is in this series,
00:38:03getting a win would be really nice.
00:38:05You know, it's well-deserved.
00:38:08Wow!
00:38:10I love this so much.
00:38:16This is insane.
00:38:18Oh, I want to touch everything.
00:38:21You know what? Touch away.
00:38:23This is touch-worthy.
00:38:25This is beautiful.
00:38:27I love it.
00:38:28I love it.
00:38:29I love it.
00:38:30I love it.
00:38:31I love it.
00:38:32I love it.
00:38:33I love it.
00:38:34I love it.
00:38:35Beautiful.
00:38:38I'm like, ooh, that texture and this nice, sharp knife edge
00:38:42against that micro-cement curve
00:38:44and the details of the oak and the door handle.
00:38:47It's so current.
00:38:49That checkerboard pattern and micro-cement
00:38:52and coloured stone and travertine.
00:38:55It's like, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
00:39:00And the compliments kept coming for you, Court Ingram.
00:39:03It's classic.
00:39:04It's got a very muted palette.
00:39:06But you walk in and you go, oh, it's sexy.
00:39:11And it's because of the texture.
00:39:13It's because of the matte finish.
00:39:15And it's because of this beautiful marble.
00:39:18But something that I haven't seen anyone do before,
00:39:21and I highly commend them,
00:39:23is they've done two different tiles
00:39:25and they've patchworked them.
00:39:27It looks phenomenal.
00:39:29They come together and they tell the story.
00:39:32What I love so much about the palette shows you the sand,
00:39:36the earth, the rocks, the trees,
00:39:39everything from Red Rocks Beach just down the road.
00:39:42That's a snapshot of it.
00:39:43That's Phillip Island right there.
00:39:45It is very Phillip Island appropriate.
00:39:48What a great door.
00:39:50It's a slider.
00:39:52And look how much room we've got.
00:39:54So much more spacious.
00:39:55Look, these guys understand aesthetics and practicality.
00:39:58And they're combining both to deliver something
00:40:01that is extremely marketable.
00:40:02I don't think you're going to find many buyers
00:40:04that would walk through here and not just appreciate
00:40:07and gasp at the level of quality that you feel standing in here.
00:40:11I think you said the right word.
00:40:13People will gasp with excitement.
00:40:16There you go.
00:40:17Shona said the niche is the hero.
00:40:20And she loved that you haven't used the tiles everywhere
00:40:24as the plasterwork warms up the room.
00:40:28Shona did, however, have a couple of issues with the room.
00:40:32Again, we've got switching on the outside.
00:40:35And I don't think this year we're ever going to see
00:40:38a horizontal tower raft.
00:40:41Other than that, Shona thought this room was...
00:40:44Perfection.
00:40:45Like, I'm looking at the execution.
00:40:47I can't fault.
00:40:48Except what is it with the shower screen opening?
00:40:52We also need openings big enough.
00:40:55I mean... Oh, my God!
00:40:57That's where I am.
00:40:58Bit narrow?
00:40:59Yeah.
00:41:00Manufacturer miscalculations.
00:41:03That's those measurements that we have to get so right
00:41:06that I was talking about before.
00:41:08We gave them 620.
00:41:09They gave us 520, so...
00:41:11Well, you have been working out.
00:41:13Dude, check it.
00:41:14Those delt rises.
00:41:15He's a massive man with his muscles everywhere.
00:41:17He can hardly fit through.
00:41:18Just go and look on his Instagram, you'll see it.
00:41:21We'll get it fixed.
00:41:23Yeah.
00:41:24This is probably the only miss in this entire room.
00:41:28But they have time to change that,
00:41:30and I would highly suggest that.
00:41:32And that would be the only thing that I'd be changing in here.
00:41:35I've just finished researching booking a family vacation
00:41:38to Europe, in France, in London,
00:41:41and I can say that this could have been on any of those adverts.
00:41:45This is something that you'll find in a six-star hotel
00:41:48anywhere in the world.
00:41:50Trust Marty to go six-star.
00:41:53I like his style.
00:41:54That's it.
00:41:55I will be taking this pallet and this room away with me
00:41:58in my happy memories for the rest of the day.
00:42:01Actually, it's a really high point,
00:42:03and it's going to be a point of comparison for me today.
00:42:06House 3 has to completely bring it.
00:42:08I've got a real spring in my step,
00:42:10and I'm going to be positive that the boys are bringing it.
00:42:13Absolutely.
00:42:14House 3 is really going to have to bring it this week to top this.
00:42:18Uh-oh.
00:42:20That's it.
00:42:21Well done. Thanks.
00:42:22Well done.
00:42:28We literally couldn't ask for better feedback.
00:42:30We are so excited.
00:42:31So happy.
00:42:32Relieved. Relieved.
00:42:39Welcome back to my new HQ on Phillip Island.
00:42:42We've heard the judges sing their praises for Houses 1 and 2,
00:42:46and now it's time for the boys in House 3 to face the music.
00:42:50OK, House 3.
00:42:51Ricky and Hayden, how are you feeling, boys?
00:42:53It's been a tough week, I know.
00:42:54Brutal week, in fact.
00:42:55Brutal week.
00:42:56Yeah, mate.
00:42:57Feeling pretty flat today.
00:43:02We had a dream bathroom in mind,
00:43:04massive 2.8-metre-high ceilings,
00:43:06and an enormous skylight.
00:43:08We were really confident that we could win this week.
00:43:12Yeah, we're due.
00:43:13We're definitely due, so hopefully on-suite's our week.
00:43:15What could go wrong?
00:43:16Nothing.
00:43:17Nothing.
00:43:18Absolutely nothing can go wrong.
00:43:20Hey, mate, how are you?
00:43:21Yeah, I'm good, I'm good.
00:43:22I'm calling you from Dubai.
00:43:24From Dubai?
00:43:25He's my waterproofer and my toweler.
00:43:29Miller dropped his tools and was like,
00:43:31yeah, I've got to go.
00:43:32He said that he had something personal there to take care of.
00:43:35Yeah, I have to go.
00:43:38Miller took off early to go to a music event.
00:43:43There's not a problem with a curving principle,
00:43:45there's a problem with a curving execution.
00:43:47He left his apprentice in charge.
00:43:49Just rip it all out.
00:43:50Yep, another kick in the guts.
00:43:53There's no way they're tiling that.
00:43:54No.
00:43:55The hits just keep on coming.
00:43:56The membrane hasn't stuck to the substrate.
00:43:58Blow after blow, we keep taking hits.
00:44:01Surely that's the last major setback that we can have.
00:44:03Yeah.
00:44:06What a nightmare.
00:44:07Send everyone home, let's reassess.
00:44:10I think we're going to probably have to look at it Monday.
00:44:13If this isn't the Sunday roasting of an absolute lifetime.
00:44:19I'm excited what the boys are going to do.
00:44:22Ooh, that's a better colour.
00:44:24Yellow.
00:44:25Yay.
00:44:26Fuck what you wanted.
00:44:27The judges walked into your house with a spring in their step.
00:44:30We're very pleased to see you had painted the door
00:44:33from the week one bathroom
00:44:35and changed the interior colour of the room too.
00:44:38Oh, that's night and day.
00:44:40Night and day.
00:44:41Look at that.
00:44:42White like I wanted.
00:44:43There we go.
00:44:44They're listening.
00:44:45Oh, that's so much better.
00:44:46How good is that?
00:44:47Transformed that bathroom completely.
00:44:49This now feels so postal.
00:44:50Yep.
00:44:51And it feels elegant.
00:44:53Love it.
00:44:54Go boys.
00:44:55I love how they're listening.
00:44:56Oh, this is a good start.
00:44:57This is going to be awesome.
00:44:59Oh, I can't wait to see this.
00:45:01I'm ready to be skewered.
00:45:03Turn the barbecue up.
00:45:05What the fudge is this?
00:45:11Are you kidding me?
00:45:14It doesn't take a week to paint a door.
00:45:17Like what on earth has happened here?
00:45:19Wow.
00:45:22That's a huge shame.
00:45:24There's not even waterproofing, let alone a tile.
00:45:28The judges walked to your main ensuite bathroom
00:45:31and you got exactly what you're expecting.
00:45:34How's that spring that you had in your step?
00:45:37They're just like, no, there is no spring.
00:45:40You know what?
00:45:41Poor, this is bad.
00:45:43This is the most unfinished room in block history.
00:45:47It actually isn't.
00:45:49Bad to the bone.
00:45:52Dan and Carleen just couldn't get there in the end.
00:45:55What on earth have they done for a week?
00:45:59You're kidding me.
00:46:00What an absolute disaster.
00:46:03What we've ended up with is a disaster.
00:46:05Please tell me he's not a tiler.
00:46:07He's a tiler.
00:46:08There's really only one direction you can go from here, boys.
00:46:12Darren noted that to do a bathroom in a week,
00:46:15just about everything has to go exactly right.
00:46:19And it's pretty obvious this week that wasn't the case.
00:46:23It seems to me that...
00:46:26It's a dispute with the builder?
00:46:28It feels like somebody walked off.
00:46:29That's what I feel.
00:46:30And it feels like somebody walked off
00:46:31at a point where they couldn't continue at all.
00:46:35And if that's the case,
00:46:36then I feel really sorry for the boys.
00:46:38Oh, I feel sick for them.
00:46:41In a positive, boys, the layout is excellent.
00:46:45I can already see that, you know,
00:46:46just from a planning perspective,
00:46:48everything is in the right spot.
00:46:49I mean, that would have been double feature shower,
00:46:52double vanity over to the left,
00:46:54toilet tucked in behind the right.
00:46:56What's quite annoying is that if this was, say,
00:46:58Monday or Tuesday and we walked in here,
00:47:01I would have actually felt quite excited for them
00:47:04because this skylight is amazing.
00:47:06That is absolutely artful and beautiful.
00:47:09This is crushing.
00:47:12The judges praised you boys for the fact
00:47:15every signal they've sent to the judges today
00:47:18looks like you have at least tried.
00:47:21This shows me that at least the boys came and swept it.
00:47:24They got it clean for us.
00:47:26Honestly, we saw an elevation of the week one bathroom
00:47:30and that bathroom already looks
00:47:31streets ahead of what it used to be.
00:47:33Then I am confident this would have been fantastic.
00:47:36It probably would have helped them actually
00:47:38to lay out some of the tiles
00:47:39and some of the decisions they made
00:47:40so we could make that decision as well
00:47:42because we can't actually see
00:47:43what the inclusions were going to be.
00:47:45But obviously the finish is just diabolical.
00:47:49You're in a hole, and now you have to dig yourselves out.
00:47:53That's it.
00:47:55Good job, boys.
00:47:57I think the best thing about today, there is tomorrow,
00:48:00and we're looking forward to a fresh start tomorrow.
00:48:02So...
00:48:14Okay, Colleen Pratt.
00:48:20I hate bathroom week.
00:48:25Are we continuing on the black and white theme?
00:48:28Black and white.
00:48:29They hate it, but I'm sticking with it.
00:48:31Okay, sure.
00:48:32We've got to stick to our guns.
00:48:33So we're actually flipping the bathrooms
00:48:35and instead of doing the black,
00:48:36we're doing white with black accents.
00:48:38So I already went in having a plan of a white marble
00:48:41with like a bronze sort of vein through it.
00:48:44The Melbourne marble tile.
00:48:45Melbourne marble, okay.
00:48:46No, sorry, they're on a ship.
00:48:51Mate, well done.
00:48:52First team to be plastering.
00:48:54I think you'll make waterproof Wednesday.
00:48:56The all-important...
00:48:58No!
00:48:59Penguin!
00:49:01The winner of the first challenge is House 4.
00:49:07We won the penguin.
00:49:09We're going to use it, Scotty.
00:49:11We're going to go from fourth to third.
00:49:15Hello!
00:49:16Hello!
00:49:17Yeah!
00:49:18Yes?
00:49:19Now we're talking.
00:49:20Okay, good.
00:49:21Beautiful.
00:49:22Yeah, do you like it?
00:49:23Amazing.
00:49:24Love it.
00:49:25We've done enough for the win.
00:49:26We're just not on break.
00:49:27They want coastal, we're sort of going...
00:49:30And we're missing a shower door.
00:49:32You did it again
00:49:35You did it again
00:49:39Won't you listen to me when I'm telling you
00:49:43It's over for you
00:49:48Wow.
00:49:49Okay.
00:49:50Let's start with that Shishigiban timber.
00:49:55That is absolutely stunning.
00:49:58Everything that I wanted to see, it works super well.
00:50:02I hope they love it and I hope they put it in the other bathroom too
00:50:05because that's a big, big tick.
00:50:08Yeah, absolutely.
00:50:09And with the contrast of the black butt,
00:50:11it's a beautiful combo of that light timber, dark timber
00:50:14and that's the look that we were talking about
00:50:16of that modern contemporary Australian beach house.
00:50:22Also, these lights are a much better version of the lights
00:50:25I actually hated in the bathroom next door.
00:50:28Yeah.
00:50:29Modern, they're simpler,
00:50:30they have what they were trying to achieve,
00:50:32to have that sort of difference in height and sculptural form.
00:50:35So I think this is also an improvement.
00:50:38And there's less black.
00:50:40And it really works.
00:50:42I feel that they have listened to the last few weeks
00:50:46because this is staying true to what you wanted to see in them,
00:50:49which was a little bit of pizzazz, not to lose their personality.
00:50:52But this isn't loud.
00:50:54It's not throwing too much at the buyer.
00:50:56They've warmed up the bathroom
00:50:58by toning down so much heaviness in the black.
00:51:02Well, to me, that wall is absolutely stunning.
00:51:05But I'm afraid when I turn around,
00:51:09I'm going to think the opposite.
00:51:12MUSIC
00:51:16Well, I want to tell them, stop with the Art Deco.
00:51:20Just stop it. Stop it.
00:51:22I said it last week.
00:51:24We are in Phillip Island.
00:51:26We are not in Art Deco world.
00:51:29And standing in that shower,
00:51:31like, can you imagine sort of washing yourself?
00:51:34You're going to fall in that bath, you're going to be juggling.
00:51:37And again, is that the right width?
00:51:40It's a little bit bigger than the last one, but it's definitely tight.
00:51:43I know how to check it.
00:51:45Oh, there you go. It's slightly bigger.
00:51:47We have space. We have 100 real more.
00:51:49And you're missing a door.
00:51:51I have to say, their styling, I feel like they've lost themselves
00:51:54because that, like, what is that?
00:51:57This is terrible.
00:51:59The styling lets the room down.
00:52:01The dirty bath mat on the floor is just not good styling.
00:52:05I'm beyond nervous for this couple now.
00:52:08I feel like they're lost, they're not listening.
00:52:10This is not the right bathroom.
00:52:12This does not say beach house.
00:52:14It doesn't say modern contemporary.
00:52:16We're in a beach environment
00:52:18where people are going to come in here and go,
00:52:20oh, it's a bit cold, it's a bit tactile.
00:52:23This has just gone so far from what is needed in a beach house.
00:52:27It's not funny.
00:52:29I get that, but Phillip Island isn't just about the beach.
00:52:32And we are only two hours out of Melbourne.
00:52:34So for the buyers that are looking at these properties,
00:52:37these guys are designing something
00:52:39that maybe just has a broader appeal.
00:52:41It doesn't have to be ultra beachy
00:52:44for them to be successful in the market.
00:52:46Marty actually thinks you got a lot right this week.
00:52:50Buyers will not punish you
00:52:52for any of the choices you have made in this room.
00:52:55I think it's a massive step in the right direction for these guys.
00:53:00And they're not losing their personality.
00:53:02Bit of a mixed bag in your feedback for you this week.
00:53:05Lots to think about. That's it.
00:53:07Thanks, Scotty.
00:53:09APPLAUSE
00:53:11I'm dirty laughing.
00:53:15Yeah, I guess we sort of expected...
00:53:17We did expect it.
00:53:19And yes, I'm sticking with black. Black's a thing.
00:53:27It's main en suite week,
00:53:29and it's time for our newlyweds in House 5
00:53:31to hear their feedback from the judges.
00:53:34Christian and Mimi.
00:53:42This week was...
00:53:45..a disaster.
00:53:47You're so exag.
00:53:51We have another big space to work with this week,
00:53:53and as much as that's a plus for us
00:53:56cos we can put more things in it and make it look grand,
00:53:59it's more work.
00:54:01Today's Tuesday frustration.
00:54:06Looking for people.
00:54:08I don't know what's happening.
00:54:11So that's a pair of boards going to have to come down.
00:54:13We're going to have to get the R7 bats in.
00:54:15Can't we put the R7 bats from this side and slide them in?
00:54:18No. Yeah, but then...
00:54:19We don't guess on the block, we do it right.
00:54:21Yeah, I know, but then...
00:54:23Why does Christian look so worried?
00:54:26That's just his face now.
00:54:28It's just stuck like that.
00:54:30So you reckon you got the three-peat going?
00:54:35Who's Peat?
00:54:46Wow.
00:54:54Another massive room.
00:54:56This is extremely spacious,
00:54:59and when I say extreme, I mean extreme.
00:55:03It almost feels too big.
00:55:05That looks like it's nearly 2.5 metres,
00:55:10in terms of a shower.
00:55:12Party shower.
00:55:15Yeah, we all know about the party shower.
00:55:17You know what? I nearly hit the shower screen.
00:55:19That's too close to the door.
00:55:21And you don't even need it.
00:55:22I mean, what water is this keeping out?
00:55:26Why are they there?
00:55:27I walked into your bathroom today,
00:55:29I nearly walked into the shower screen.
00:55:31Yeah, it's because of the fall.
00:55:32It has to fall a certain way from the shower head.
00:55:35But the tiler can fix that with it laying down the floors.
00:55:38We had to have a door if we put it closer, so...
00:55:42Then you should have put a door.
00:55:46Shona agreed.
00:55:47She said, this room doesn't feel good to me.
00:55:50This is such a huge waste of space.
00:55:52That glass is literally...
00:55:54Yep.
00:55:55Three centimetres off the door jamb.
00:55:57Yeah.
00:55:58That has to be one of the biggest errors.
00:56:00Like, you've got to actually open the door all the way
00:56:02if you just come in here.
00:56:04I've never seen such a big, useless shower.
00:56:09There's no bath for so much square metreage.
00:56:12This here is wrecking the room,
00:56:14and I believe from the effort that they've gone into,
00:56:18that this is the hero of the room.
00:56:20And it's not.
00:56:22But there are also plenty of positives.
00:56:25I think as a mood board, this is stunning.
00:56:27And then this beautiful little bit of timber and panelling,
00:56:30whether you agree with it or not, it softens it.
00:56:33I really love that decision with the tiles here.
00:56:35This is a really gorgeous colour.
00:56:37I love the materiality, I love the texture,
00:56:39I love the colour, I think it's gorgeous.
00:56:42Those basins are beautiful.
00:56:44I like this sort of, you know, contemporary form to the archways
00:56:47and how it works with the curves of the glass.
00:56:50But this is planned poorly, it's laid out poorly.
00:56:54Those benches are too high.
00:56:57Are they seats? Yep.
00:56:59Yeah, well, just remember this for a rule.
00:57:01Seats are 450, tables are 750,
00:57:04bench tops are 900.
00:57:06You go 20mm either way of that, and it doesn't feel comfortable.
00:57:10I don't like this styling.
00:57:12When we went into the bathroom and the bedroom,
00:57:15they had a few little references that were slightly subtle.
00:57:18Now we have another whale's tail.
00:57:20We have a penguin, and we have a penguin.
00:57:23It's now getting naff.
00:57:25What's with the birds?
00:57:27They've just come right off course when it comes to their style.
00:57:30It's naff, it's cliche, like, no.
00:57:33Darren also found your notes to the judges on the door,
00:57:38or what he politely termed a list of excuses on the door.
00:57:43Electrician said down lights would fit, but they were too deep,
00:57:47ran out of time for grout and silicon,
00:57:49and also ran out of time to fit off the vanity lights.
00:57:53So that means it's my fault. No. I didn't give you enough time.
00:57:58I don't like their excuses,
00:58:00because they did it well in week one and two.
00:58:03When you've been winning, you've got the budget,
00:58:05you've got the ability to really turn it up a notch upstairs
00:58:09for one of the most valuable rooms in a campaign,
00:58:12and you've missed the mark.
00:58:15Maybe got a little bit arrogant, maybe got a little bit too cocky.
00:58:18Complacency. That's it.
00:58:20Maybe they're getting a bit arrogant and cocky.
00:58:24This is a massive drop of the ball. Yeah.
00:58:26For the winners of the previous weeks,
00:58:29it's a real letdown for such an important room
00:58:32for the sale of the house.
00:58:34And it just shows how quickly your momentum can shift.
00:58:39That's it. I'm glad that's over.
00:58:44I think I'm more upset,
00:58:46because I know what our team had to do to get us there,
00:58:50and to hear that, I don't think...
00:58:53You know, it's not very nice.
00:59:05OK, scores. Here we go.
00:59:09OK, Jessie and Paige.
00:59:12Darren Palmer.
00:59:14Simplifying those details
00:59:16lets these traditional details really sing.
00:59:25What?!
00:59:27What?!
00:59:29Thank you!
00:59:33I'll take that. I'm happy with that.
00:59:36I'll take that. I'm happy with that.
00:59:38You're like, all right, bye.
00:59:40Don't hug yet. It's not over.
00:59:42It's amazing. It's best I've not gotten a ten yet.
00:59:45No.
00:59:47Courtney and Grant.
00:59:51It's so current.
00:59:53That checkerboard pattern and micro cement
00:59:56and coloured stone and travertine.
00:59:59It's like, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
01:00:03There'll be half a point in time.
01:00:06Rikki and Hayden.
01:00:08It probably would have helped them, actually,
01:00:10to lay out some of the tiles and some of the decisions they made,
01:00:13because we can't actually see what the inclusions were going to be.
01:00:21Kylie and Brad.
01:00:23Kylie and Brad.
01:00:29That Trishugi barn timber,
01:00:31that is absolutely stunning.
01:00:34It works super well.
01:00:36That's a big, big tick.
01:00:42Christian and Mimi.
01:00:44This is planned poorly.
01:00:46It's laid out poorly.
01:00:48Those benches are too high.
01:00:54Well, there we go.
01:00:57OK, Marty Fox, Jessie and Paige.
01:01:02This here is ticking all the boxes for a buyer.
01:01:05Double shower, double basin
01:01:07and with a slight elevation in terms of its finish.
01:01:13Oh, thank God.
01:01:15Courtney and Grant.
01:01:19I don't think you're going to find many buyers
01:01:21who walk through here and not just appreciate and gasp
01:01:25at the level of quality that you feel standing in here.
01:01:33Rikki. Oh, yeah, that's right.
01:01:39Rikki and Hayden.
01:01:41This was, say, Tuesday and we walked in here.
01:01:44I would have actually felt quite excited for them.
01:01:48Kylie and Brad.
01:01:51They've warmed up the bathroom
01:01:53by toning down so much heaviness in the black.
01:02:02And Christian and Mimi.
01:02:04I've never seen such a big, useless shower.
01:02:12Rightio, before I go behind the scoreboard here,
01:02:15Brad and Kylie, you've got the first bonus point,
01:02:18a penguin bonus point right here.
01:02:20What do you want to do?
01:02:22No. No, thanks, Scotty.
01:02:24I've got to ask.
01:02:26I can do the calculations. Right, I'll do that.
01:02:28I don't think we'll ever get to use it.
01:02:30I'll see you in a sec. It's going to be tight.
01:02:33OK, Shona Blase, Jessie and Paige.
01:02:36This is sophisticated, fresh, it's elegant.
01:02:40Oh, I'm so proud of them.
01:02:42Courtney and Grant.
01:02:44It's classic. It's got a very muted palette.
01:02:47But you walk in and you go, oh, it's sexy.
01:02:52Rikki and Hayden.
01:02:54Aunt Lisa.
01:02:58There's not even waterproofing, let alone a tile.
01:03:02Kylie and Brad.
01:03:04Well, I want to tell them, stop with the art deco.
01:03:08Just stop it. Stop it.
01:03:10Christian and Mimi.
01:03:12I don't like this styling.
01:03:14It's now getting naff.
01:03:16OK.
01:03:18The winner of week three on the block,
01:03:21main bathroom week,
01:03:24is, by half a point...
01:03:27Oh!
01:03:31..by half a point...
01:03:33It's the redemption of... There it is.
01:03:35..it's Courtney and Grant!
01:03:37CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
01:03:42We won.
01:03:44Oh, such a relief. We won.
01:03:46It's relief, not excitement at this point.
01:03:48Second two weeks in a row,
01:03:50and you've finally taken out the win.
01:03:52Well done. That's all I needed.
01:03:54Now I can go. That's all you needed for half a point.
01:03:57Finally taking out the win this week
01:03:59is Courtney and Grant with 28 points,
01:04:02followed by Jessie and Paige on 27.5 points,
01:04:05including the first ten of the series.
01:04:08Third place is Kylie and Brad on 23 points.
01:04:11Fourth place goes to Christian and Mimi,
01:04:13who scored 21.5 points.
01:04:15And in last place this week
01:04:17is the boys from house three with only four points.
01:04:20$10,000 from Ford coming your way,
01:04:22but that's not the only prize from Ford,
01:04:24cos our Ford getaway is going to be amazing,
01:04:27as we go to meet some VIPs
01:04:29when we head to the Continental Hotel at Sorrento.
01:04:33Oh!
01:04:35And you get a beautiful night's sleep and a meal.
01:04:38Celebrity chefs, it's going to be amazing.
01:04:40Thank you, Scotty.
01:04:41And Jessie and Paige.
01:04:43Well, I bet you thought you had it in the bag
01:04:45when you got a ten from Darren.
01:04:47I honestly am just...
01:04:48I didn't think about anything after the ten.
01:04:50First ten of the Continental Hotel.
01:04:52Very difficult to get a ten from Darren.
01:04:54He doesn't hand them out, I'm telling you.
01:04:56Last time he gave someone a ten, they went on to win the block.
01:04:59Wow.
01:05:00The good news is it comes with a very special prize,
01:05:03which I will personally hand-deliver tomorrow.
01:05:06OK. That's exciting. Thank you.
01:05:08We got a ten!
01:05:10The first ten as well.
01:05:11I think that is just such good juju.
01:05:13OK, looking out for next week's room
01:05:15to drop on Domain tomorrow morning.
01:05:17Will it be a bathroom?
01:05:19I hope not!
01:05:20Who knows?
01:05:22OK, work hard, everybody.
01:05:24Good luck. Have a great week. See you.
01:05:28It is very tough, but I'm going to step into next week
01:05:33with, you know, a new...
01:05:36Outlook.
01:05:37And we'll take it on.
01:05:39We'll take all the criticism on.
01:05:40All of it?
01:05:41All of it.
01:05:42I'm arrogant. I'll try and change that.
01:05:44A bit arrogant, a bit cocky and complacent.
01:05:46I'm cocky. I'll change that too.
01:05:48I disagree with those comments.
01:05:50I don't think we were complacent.
01:05:52I don't think we took our foot off the pedal.
01:05:54But, no, if you don't know us, don't call us arrogant.
01:05:57Is that what they said?
01:05:58Yeah.
01:05:59Oh, really?
01:06:00You're not arrogant.
01:06:01I'm literally the last person to, like, 100% not arrogant.
01:06:08I know it's a lot to take in.
01:06:09I know it's a lot to take in.
01:06:10I know it's a lot to take in.
01:06:12And it's very shocking news.
01:06:14Shocking news.
01:06:15I'm really sorry.
01:06:16I'm really sorry.
01:06:18This is The Week.
01:06:20I'm not having you on site.
01:06:21You're a snake.
01:06:22You're a snake.
01:06:23She wants to be left alone.
01:06:25Oh, this is frustrating.
01:06:27You want me to want to be here and I don't.
01:06:30Then walk out, man!
01:06:31Walk out, man!
01:06:32Pressures of the block can be a little bit too much for some.
01:06:36It all builds.
01:06:37Cut your attitude out.
01:06:38I can't cut my attitude out when you actually haven't been listening to me.
01:06:41He just acts like I'm the problem.
01:06:43To one life-changing decision.
01:06:46It's healthy to argue to an extent.
01:06:48It's getting extreme on the block.
01:06:50That rocks everyone.
01:06:53It's a very brave decision that you've made.
01:06:56To the core.
01:06:57That is for the best.
01:07:00One unmissable week.
01:07:03Tomorrow 7.30.
01:07:05Our room reveal galleries are now open for inspection
01:07:09exclusively at the block website.
