Bowknot Shaped Steamed Buns Recipe
Prepare the yeast mixture: In a bowl, combine 1/4 tsp (0.7g) of instant dry yeast, 5g of sugar, and 45-50g of water or 50-60g of milk. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved.
Make the white dough: Place 100g of all-purpose flour in a bowl. Add the yeast mixture and stir until it forms a rough dough. Add 2g of coconut oil or vegetable oil, then knead the dough until it becomes smooth.
Create the small pink doughs: Take 54g of the white dough and mix in 0.2g of cactus fruit powder. Knead until the color is uniform, then divide the dough into three equal portions.
Form the small white doughs: Use the remaining 96g of white dough and divide it into three equal portions.
Shape the buns: Follow the shaping method shown in the video to form the bowknot shapes.
Let the buns rise: Allow the shaped buns to rise in a warm place until they double in size.
Steam the buns: Fill the bottom of a steamer with at least 1 inch of water and bring it to a boil. Place the buns on the steamer rack, cover, and steam over medium heat for 10 minutes. Let the buns rest for 3 minutes before removing the lid.
