00:07Page Six has reported that Matt Lauer's daughter, Romy, was involved in a hit-and-run in the early
00:12morning of July 5th, 2024. Romy was apparently enjoying a trip to the Hamptons for the Fourth
00:17of July and had previously posted a video of her and some friends eating at a local sushi place.
00:23Sometime between then and 4 a.m. the following morning, a neighbor heard a loud crashing noise
00:28and called the police to check things out. Apparently, Romy crashed into a nearby fence
00:32and sign while driving her Jeep Wrangler and then fled the scene. So how did authorities
00:37know that Lauer's 20-year-old daughter was the culprit? Her Jeep's license plate fell
00:41off at the scene of the crime. It didn't take much detective work to track her down after that.
00:46After discovering who was responsible, a court summons was issued to Romy for leaving after the
00:50crash, as well as an official ticket. Fortunately, it has not been reported that any people were
00:56injured in the alleged hit-and-run. Somewhat ironically, the TikTok video Romy posted just
01:01hours before the crash was a lip-sync video with two of her friends set to Kevin James opening the
01:062007 NASCAR race at the Daytona International Speedway. It looks like Romy has since taken
01:11down the video, but in light of her driving shenanigans soon after, the audio was fitting,
01:16to say the least.
01:18Romy apparently moved on from the incident without any fanfare. Her next TikTok was posted on July 9,
01:30another lip-sync announcing an upcoming vacation to Spain.
01:34Romy is no stranger to showing off her glamorous lifestyle on TikTok. A student at the University
01:39of Miami, Romy's feed is filled with trips to exotic locales, parties, yachts, and high fashion.
01:44And in a few videos from 2019, her disgraced father...

01:53And it's doubtful that Romy's carefree lifestyle will come to a screeching halt due to the alleged
01:58hit-and-run. It's been reported that attorney Edward Burke Jr. is on the case on behalf of Romy.
02:03Described by the Mercury News as the celebrity fix-it, Burke also represented
02:07Matt Lauer after he was fired from Today in 2017 for sexual assault allegations.
02:13Burke was also spotted in 2019 at an informal family gathering with the Lauers.
02:18Aside from Matt, Burke has a long list of high-profile clientele as an attorney,
02:22including former NBA star Jason Kidd and New York socialite Lizzie Grubman. Most recently,
02:27he reportedly represented Justin Timberlake after the pop star was pulled over and arrested in the
02:32Hamptons in June 2024. Clearly, Burke is no stranger to dealing with celebrity legal issues,
02:38and according to a source for Page Six, the attorney is, quote,
02:42"...resolving this for Ms. Lauer."
02:44Following his Today show firing, Matt has focused on his family and largely has stayed out of the
02:48public eye. In November 2022, about five years after the allegations against him first broke,
02:54a source told People he had, quote,
02:56"...a good relationship with his children and sees them often."
02:59They also said,
03:00"...they are a priority in his life."
03:02As of this video, neither Matt nor Romy has commented on the incident. However,
03:06with reports of Romy's incident in the Hamptons only now reaching the public,
03:10that may change in the future. Then again, with a high-power attorney at her back,
03:14Romy may just sail away with only a slap on the wrist and leave the incident behind her.
