00:00Jim Ross and Bob Collar here on TBS everybody is wondering Bob who is the
00:04man a single wrestle at the Clash of Champions who is the black scorpion we
00:07may find out today. Jim that's the big question of course in the big mystery
00:10around the NWA who is he we don't know how big he is we don't know anything
00:14about him but I tell you he sent us some comments maybe we'll learn about him as
00:17a matter of fact let's listen to this right now. I have a message for Sting.
00:30Ladies and gentlemen, the following tag team event is set for one fall.
00:48Introducing first, from Memphis, Tennessee, Ricky Morton, Robert Gibson, Bob Block, and Paul Ekman.
01:01491 pounds, first from Europe, San Panzer, from Encino, California, Brian Carr.
01:13Fans of Rock and Roll Express, hot on the trail of Doom and before we went on the air today
01:17Ricky and Robert had this to say about the world tag team champions.
01:22Tag along with Doom, last time we met, you got yourself disqualified on purpose just to keep them titles.
01:27But next time we meet, brother, we hope it's a no disqualification match because we're going to prove to you and the rest of the world
01:33that we'll be five times NWA world tag team champions.
01:43Roll up there by Robert Gibson on San Panzer. Those comments directed toward Doom.
01:48I'll tell you something, Doom, Bob, if Doom went swimming in the Loch Ness, I think the monster would get out.
01:53They are a tremendous team.
01:55Jim, they're as strong and as powerful and I think as imposing as any tag team that we've ever seen in professional wrestling.
02:01But don't take this team lightly. Four times world tag team champions and they say they're destined to rewrite history and make it five.
02:08Ricky Morton dropping the fist on San Panzer fans.
02:12We heard those comments, that brief statement from the Black Scorpion.
02:16And Bob, in the next segment, in the wrestling wrap-up, you're going to be talking to Sting.
02:21I understand the Black Scorpion sent Sting another statement that we'll be able to hear a little bit later in the show.
02:27Right you are, Jim, and we're anxious to see that. I tell you, I hope by looking at that and by seeing that,
02:32that Sting, you, me, some of us are going to have some idea who this Black Scorpion really is.
02:39Brian Carr sent Ricky Morton for the ride. Nice arm drag takeover by Ricky.
02:45Brian Carr and San Panzer taking on the Rock and Roll Express.
02:50Big cloud of mystery hanging over the head of the Black Scorpion.
02:55First time in recent memory, as a matter of fact, that I can ever remember a world champion defending his title and not being able to scout his opponent.
03:03Or even knowing anything about him at all, Jim. How big he is, how he wrestles.
03:08Whether he's going to wrestle you or whether he's going to come in and try to slug it out with you or what he's going to do.
03:13Most doubt that Sting would do that.
03:15My promoter Gary Jester's got a big event tonight in Baltimore. I know there's a big weekend in Baltimore and Chicago.
03:20That's right. Tonight at 8 o'clock in the Baltimore Arena. Tomorrow night at 7.30 in Chicago at the UIC Pavilion.
03:27And again on Monday night, the NWA will be in the Georgia Medical Center. That's in Gainesville.
03:347.30 starting time in Gainesville this Monday night. Great card there.
03:37Also Tuesday night, the NWA will be in Macon. Macon, Georgia. The Coliseum at 7.30.
03:43Tag made. Ricky Morton now comes in against Brian Clark.
03:47Morton and Gibson have been the world tag team champions on four occasions.
03:51Thinking back, each and every time they've gone into those championship matches, they have been the underdog.
03:56Well, and Jim, so many of your tag team partners here are two that have stayed together.
04:02Wow.
04:03They've been together through thick and thin.
04:05That's it. The double drop kick.
04:08Ladies and gentlemen, here are your winners, Ricky Morton, Robert Gibson, The Rock, and Rule Express.
04:17A second of the weekend, Bob, before we hear comments from Doom.
04:21And as you say, Jim, and as we commented before, they've been together a long time. They know each other very well.
04:27Look at the timing and the exposing power of the double drop kick. It was all over right there.
04:32Theodore R. Long had something to say to Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson.
04:36Let's listen to these comments.
04:39What you people just saw is The Rock and Rule Express, Keckle and Jekyll, two magpies just beat up on two individuals that are not Doom.
04:48Well, Rock and Rule Express, if you'd have been in the ring with the Soul Brothers Doom, the NWA world tag team champions, that would have never happened.
04:54Now, I'm getting sick and tired of you, Robert Gibson. I'm getting sick and tired of you, Ricky Morton.
04:59Running, hiding, peeping and sliding, doing everything you can to stay away from the Soul Brothers Doom.
05:04Well, you'll never be five times NWA world tag team champions. The only thing you're going to be is rid of the National Wrestling Alliance.
05:11And this week on the Wrestling Wrap-Up, we're going to be hearing some comments from the mysterious Black Scorpion,
05:16the man that this man, the world heavyweight champion Sting, has signed to defend his championship against live here on TBS on September 5th.
05:24Sting, do you know anything about this man? And if not, how are you preparing to wrestling?
05:28Well, I have no idea, Bob, who this guy is, the Black Scorpion. I have no clue. No one's saying anything to me.
05:35I've seen this little bit right now. I want to see a little bit more here in a few minutes,
05:39and I want to give everybody out there the opportunity to see the same thing that I'm going to see for the first time.
05:44He is an unknown. How do I prepare for something like that? Well, you just have to go for broke.
05:51If it's Ric Flair, if it's Arn Anderson, any of the other stars in the NWA,
05:56at least I have an idea on how to prepare for something like that.
05:59But this guy here, Bob, the Black Scorpion, I have no idea who he is, but I said on national TV on so many different occasions
06:06now that I would defend it against anybody worthy enough, obviously he must be. So I'm going to defend it.
06:11Maybe we can get an idea of who he is, Sting. And to do that, fans, let's watch this.
06:14Yeah, let's watch it.
06:16Sting, are you listening? Of course you are. You're too much of a hero and a champion to refuse to hear this tape.
06:28Sting, I am going to destroy you. A long time has passed since you last saw me.
06:40Oh, yes, you know me, or at least you did. But don't try to track me down. It won't help.
06:49Even if you saw my face in the light, you wouldn't recognize me. My face doesn't look the same.
07:00Curious, I imagine you are. Of course you are. I want you to be thinking, be concerned, maybe even a little scared.
07:16Soon, I intend for you to be terrified. Think back. Who could it be that would hate you enough to want to see you a broken, defeated man?
07:38Maybe a little gloop lab. How about California in 86? Think about it, Sting. Think about who I am.
07:52Remember this. You'll have a chance to find out on September 5th at The Clash at Mountain Madness. I'll be there, waiting.
08:09Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest, it is set for one fall. Introducing first, from Cincinnati, Ohio, weighing 226 pounds, Brian Ryan.
08:25His opponent from the State Patrol, Lieutenant G. Earl Price.
08:31Well, Bob, we must comment on what we've just heard, those comments from the Black Scorpion, alleging that he is someone from Sting's past.
08:39And now, that still is very inconclusive as to the identity of this individual.
08:44Well, and Jim, I asked Sting later, I said, Sting, have you any idea? And he said, no, I don't have any idea who he is.
08:49Jim, I went even further. I went through the locker room, and I talked to all the guys in the locker room, and I said, if any of you got any idea who this might be, Jim, nobody could give me a name.
08:59Paul E. Dangerously will talk to Sting on the Danger Zone. Oh, great move there by Flyin' Brian. This kid is so nimble, high crossbody.
09:09Lieutenant James Earl Ryan, a very tough customer, challenging Flyin' Brian one-on-one here on World Championship Wrestling.
09:16I was going to say, this Sunday night at 6.05 on the N.W.A. main event, the Danger Zone will have as its special guest the world champion, Sting.
09:26And we'll talk more about this, and perhaps by tomorrow, Paul E. may know.
09:30Very well could, Jim, because everybody's really trying to find out something about this black scorpion.
09:35You're talking about that great move by Flyin' Brian, Jim, you know, he's really developed into one of the really great all-around athletes in the N.W.A.
09:43Great dropkick by Pillman, combining Flyin' Brian with Z-Man. You get a great, young, explosive tag team combination.
09:52That man, Lieutenant James Earl Ryan, a very tough customer, a severe challenge for the former Cincinnati Bengal.
09:58Keep an eye on Pillman. Oh, fake James Earl Ryan out there, or he thought he did.
10:04James Earl Ryan put the brakes on there, thought he'd outsmarted Pillman. Big chop!
10:11Man, that's a ferocious chop by Pillman.
10:16Well, I tell you, the lieutenant went to the eyes, and that's a big equalizer.
10:20Now he's got Pillman in trouble, as he slammed him hard into that steel fence right around the ring.
10:26Jim, some of the favorite moves of Flyin' Brian, of course, is that top rope dropkick and that flying shoulder block press.
10:33When he puts that on an opponent, they're usually on the man, and they're usually down for the count of three.
10:39One of his greatest attributes, in addition to his phenomenal physical conditioning, is his agility.
10:48As you see right there, leaping to the top rope, coming down very gracefully on James Earl Ryan.
10:55Pillman went for the cover there, the pin, rather.
10:59Again, in all of those moves, Jim, he showed you that tremendous athletic ability we talked about.
11:03Not only has he got power and strength in that upper body and those legs of his, but he's got that tremendous athletic ability to go along with it.
11:10That's a double barrel that he shoots at the opponent.
11:13Let me remind all you fans, Wednesday, the N.W.A. will be in Rome, Georgia, at Barron Stadium.
11:18And if it rains, we'll be at Memorial Gym.
11:21And on Thursday at 7.30 in Fayetteville, North Carolina, at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
11:26The N.W.A., great action right there.
11:29Lieutenant James Earl Ryan drops that head butt on Flyin' Brian, lateral press.
11:33And a near fall there, counted by Nick Patrick, the referee.
11:36And James Earl Ryan comes up very quickly and places the boot right in the back of Flyin' Brian.
11:42The Pillman fights back.
11:44This is just a tremendously courageous young man.
11:51Flyin' Brian, very intrepid, great deal of courage.
11:57Finally getting Lieutenant James Earl Ryan over.
11:59And a near fall again.
12:01But again, Lieutenant James Earl Ryan is up quickly, Bob.
12:04Well, I tell you, he's a powerful individual.
12:06He can take a lot of punishment and keep coming at you.
12:08And that's the way he wants to wrestle you that way.
12:11He wants to stay on top of you.
12:13Keep on the offensive if he can.
12:15Jim, we're talking about Flyin' Brian.
12:17You know, he and his partner Z-Man, they've had tremendous success as tag team wrestlers also.
12:21But we're seeing them more and more now as singles.
12:25Well, Bob, you're right.
12:27As far as we're seeing on TV as singles, the last few weeks we have seen them in tag team matches.
12:32A great team, I think.
12:33I think that's where their heart lies right now.
12:36A big clothesline, resounding thud.
12:39And Flyin' Brian has won another on TBS.
12:41Ladies and gentlemen, here's our winner, Flyin' Brian!
12:49Well, fans, as we look at it again, you can see again that Flyin' Brian
12:52calls on that tremendous athletic ability of his
12:55as he goes to the top rope and comes with a flying move off of the ropes.
13:00Sends Lieutenant to the mat for the count of one, two, three, Jim.
13:03Fans, a nefarious Sid Vicious, 6'9", 330 pounds,
13:07has something to say to Sting and to Lex Luger before we go on the air.
13:11Here is that statement.
13:13A little message for you.
13:15If for some reason Flair doesn't take that title from you,
13:18I'm the next man coming after it.
13:20One of the two, the Horseman, is going to have the U.S. title.
13:24That, Sid Vicious, promises everyone in the N.W.A.
13:28He's set for one fall.
13:30Introducing first, representing the Horseman, Sid Vicious.
13:39We heard those comments before we went to break from Sid Vicious.
13:42I'll tell you something, Bob.
13:43If Sid Vicious and King Kong went to an alley, only one would come out,
13:46and it wouldn't be the Monkey.
13:49And ladies and gentlemen, his opponent from Jackson, Mississippi,
13:52weighing 245 pounds, Allen Kinsey.
13:58Allen Kinsey has the inimitable task of challenging big Sid Vicious,
14:03and he has become a man among men.
14:06Jim, I know you're 100% right there.
14:08He's one of the most devastating individuals that we've ever seen enter a ring,
14:12is this big Sid Vicious.
14:14And you know what?
14:16He's going to be at the Clash of Champions at Clash of Champions 12,
14:19which is coming up September 5th live right here at 805 on September 5th on TBS.
14:26Jim, three titles are going to be at stake during that.
14:29There will be ten matches.
14:30The world title is going to be at stake, the U.S. title,
14:33and also we're going to have a women's world title at stake.
14:36Vicious will be there.
14:37It's going to be a great night.
14:39It's all going to happen live right here on TBS.
14:41I find it most interesting the fact that Vicious, Windham, and Arn Anderson
14:45are not wrestling, but I'm sure, as you said, Bob,
14:47they will be there in the facility when Ric Flair takes on Lex Luger
14:51for the United States Championship.
14:53I think you're right, Jim.
14:54And let me remind all of you fans in Asheville
14:56that you can get your tickets early at the Pacific Center box office
14:59during the normal business hours in Asheville.
15:02That's going to be September 5th, 805 is the time, fans.
15:05You don't want to miss it.
15:06Vicious, a very pugnacious individual.
15:08We saw his attack of Flying Brian in Z-Man and the Midnight Express
15:13just a few weeks ago here on the program.
15:15He is a very dominant individual,
15:18and I think that he is becoming much, much better, much more dangerous,
15:23and I think he's realizing his potential much more rapidly
15:26since he's become a horseman.
15:27Well, I think you're right, and I think we talked about it last week, Jim.
15:30Being with a horseman, he's been around them,
15:32and they've instilled within him the killer instinct.
15:35That's made a tremendous difference in this big man.
15:38Vicious left big forearm on Alan Kinsey here on TBS.
15:45Vicious has every tool it takes,
15:47and for someone to say Vicious will never be the U.S. champion
15:51or will never be the world's champion would be very dubious.
15:55I don't think anyone could dare say that in all honesty, mean it.
15:59I don't think there's any title safe when you've got an individual around.
16:05Vicious, a very assaulting individual,
16:09comes with a high impact in the power moves.
16:12Look at everybody!
16:14When he wraps that big arm around someone, it gives that...
16:20It gives that hold a new meaning
16:22whenever he has the front face lock on someone.
16:24Boy, he can rearrange the face with it.
16:26That's just how powerful the upper body is.
16:28In general, he's like 6'9", 325.
16:32Look at that power move!
16:34Sideslam by Vicious.
16:36This should be all right here,
16:37but Vicious has decided to punish this youngster even more.
16:41In recent weeks, we've seen him do that,
16:43and again, I think that the dudes with attitudes,
16:46every time that Vicious gets in the ring,
16:48I think he's saying to them,
16:49Hey, guys, look, this could be you, and this will be you.
16:53Kinsey trying to fight back,
16:55but really to no avail
16:57as Vicious nails him again with a right hand.
17:00Vicious has always had fascinating potential,
17:03but he's rapidly realizing that potential
17:05being around the legendary Ric Flair,
17:07the TV champion, the enforcer Arn Anderson,
17:10the superb Barry Wyndham.
17:12All those men are making Sid Vicious
17:14even better than we ever realized he could be.
17:17Well, you can't be around athletes of that caliber, Jim,
17:21and not sort of move up to their level.
17:23They're bringing Vicious up to their level,
17:25and he's got all the tools to be even more so.
17:28Vicious now with Kinsey up on top of those shoulders.
17:34Wow.
17:35Kinsey became the human Frisbee there,
17:38and now Vicious, as usual,
17:41will follow this move up with a powerbomb.
17:43I think that's what he signaled for.
17:45Here we go, Sting!
17:47Well, he says Sting.
17:49Sting or Luger cannot withstand that move, Bob.
17:53I don't think there's a man alive
17:56that can withstand that tremendous power
17:58and the powerbomb from Sid Vicious.
18:00Here's your winner, Sid Vicious!
18:12All right, fans, and again, you can see
18:14as Vicious has Allen Kinsey in position for the powerbomb.
18:18What's a tremendous force,
18:19and the power that he uses as he lifts him high to the air
18:23to drive him and drive him hard right through the mat.
18:26Fans, when we come back,
18:28we'll take a look at the Junkyard Dog in action.
18:30Nature boy Ric Flair is here.
18:32We'll see the Southern Boys in action.
18:34We'll talk to the Horsemen.
18:35That and much more still to come on TBS.
18:39The following contest, it is a 4-1-4.
18:42Introducing first, from Charlotte, North Carolina,
18:46weighing 310 pounds,
18:49the Junkyard Dogs!
19:08Next opponent, from Carlsroth, Texas,
19:10227 pounds,
19:12Dirty Dutch Mantell!
19:16Fans, let's hear these comments
19:18that the big Junkyard Dog made
19:20just before we went on the air today
19:22on World Championship Wrestling.
19:24Well, well, well.
19:26Do I have my hands full?
19:28Oh, 6'9", 325 pounds.
19:31But not only do I have him to worry about,
19:33I got more than that, the telephone man.
19:35So send out the telegram.
19:37Tell my dogs to have a nice kind of prize
19:39to show my pride.
19:43J.Y.D. has a match signed with Mean Mark.
19:47Hear those comments directed toward
19:48Mean Mark and Paul E. Dangerously.
19:50And we've been joined, ladies and gentlemen,
19:52by Thunderbolt Patterson.
19:53Bolt, good to have you here as usual.
19:55Well, thank you very much.
19:56It's always a pleasure.
19:58Junkyard Dog, the big man.
19:59I tell you what, Bolt J.Y.D.,
20:01just over 310, 315 pounds.
20:05When he goes into a restaurant,
20:06he doesn't ask for the menu.
20:07He asks for an estimate.
20:08He asks for what they have.
20:09Bring it all, huh?
20:11Yes, J.Y.D. has been around
20:13for quite a little while,
20:14and he's doing quite well.
20:16Big man, very, very powerful.
20:17He's in there, I guess,
20:18a man that we know a lot about.
20:20Dutch Mantell, a real veteran.
20:22He can give the Junkyard Dog a lot of problems.
20:24He's a very cagey veteran.
20:25That's right.
20:30Mantell complaining there
20:31that J.Y.D. was pulling the tights.
20:33Boy, he's a ugly son of a gun.
20:34I like to say that for him.
20:36Well, you know,
20:37one thing about wrestling,
20:38it isn't looks.
20:39That's right.
20:40You know, he's a dangerous individual,
20:42and he's always out there
20:43trying to win any way that he can.
20:46Well, Junkyard Dog,
20:47I know you know a lot
20:48about the Junkyard Dog, Bolt J.Y.D.,
20:50since the early in his career.
20:52He's got a match signed
20:53with Mean Mark Callister.
20:54Mean Mark is 6'9", 325 pounds.
20:58That's a big man to be challenged by.
21:00Well, that's two big men
21:01getting it on, you know.
21:03I mean, one thing
21:04about professional wrestling,
21:06when you have two individuals
21:07that is that big,
21:10anything might happen.
21:12You know, Bolt,
21:13last time we talked to you,
21:14you had expressed an interest
21:16about the Steiner Brothers.
21:17Is that still an ongoing project
21:20that you're working on?
21:21Yes.
21:22You know, I've been talking
21:23with Turner Broadcasting,
21:26you know, the WCW,
21:28and I'm scouting.
21:31I'm very interested
21:32in the Steiners.
21:33And I'm starting to look
21:35at several different
21:36individuals around.
21:37I want to pass a little
21:38of my expertise on to him.
21:40I'll tell you one thing, Jim.
21:41He started at the top
21:42when he started looking
21:43at the Steiners.
21:44Boy, I tell you,
21:45there's a Team Thunderbolt.
21:46They've got it all.
21:47Well, the Steiners,
21:48like I told you last week,
21:50pound for pound,
21:51I think they're two
21:52of the greatest wrestlers
21:53in the business today.
21:54And they're just two individuals
21:56that just do so much
21:59for wrestling.
22:00And I just think
22:01that I could do a little help,
22:03give them a little help,
22:05and take them to the top.
22:07Well, Dutch Mantell
22:08looks like he's going
22:09to try to make an early exit.
22:10Is the dog going after him, though?
22:12Well, you know,
22:13every dog needs a bone to chew on,
22:15he says.
22:16Yes, sir.
22:17We may finish this one
22:18in the dressing room.
22:19Well, it looks like
22:20he never can tell
22:21what might happen here.
22:22Mantell rakes the eyes now,
22:24trying to bring J.Y.D.
22:25back to the ring.
22:26He's not going to hurt him
22:27right there.
22:28J.Y.D.'s got a pretty hard head.
22:30And that big right hand
22:31certainly found it smart.
22:35He's down on all four
22:36waiting on him now.
22:38He's talking about that head.
22:40He just butted Mantell
22:41right out of the ring.
22:42All the way out of the ring.
22:43Yes, sir.
22:47Big and strong,
22:48junkyard dog.
22:49One man that cannot
22:50be intimidated,
22:51whether it's by main mark
22:52or any of the horsemen.
22:53J.Y.D. is always ready
22:54to stand and fight
22:55anybody that signs a contract.
22:57That's true.
22:58He stands his ground.
22:59That's a big equalizer, though,
23:00and that thumb to the eye.
23:01Mantell, though, Jimmy,
23:02he's wrestling a smart match.
23:04Every time that it looks like
23:05the dog has got it going,
23:07he sort of breaks
23:08the concentration.
23:09Mantell will get out of the ring
23:11or he'll leave
23:12or he'll go do something
23:13to break the action.
23:14Well, he's been around a long time.
23:16He has that ring psychology,
23:18so he knows what he's doing.
23:22J.Y.D. now taking over
23:23on Dutch Mantell.
23:25Mantell tried to slam him.
23:26J.Y.D. blocked that.
23:27Another head butt.
23:28One of his best offensive weapons
23:29is using his head.
23:31Clothesline there by the dog.
23:35Lateral press,
23:36but the man from Old Trout, Texas,
23:38kicks out.
23:39Now fighting back.
23:40You've got to hand it to Mantell.
23:41He's got a lot of fire.
23:44Yeah, he's putting up a good fight.
23:48J.Y.D. went downstairs
23:49and comes back with that head butt.
23:51Well, there's no doubt, Jim,
23:52Dog is landing the harder punches
23:54in the match.
23:56Mantell moved out of the way.
23:57Watch out.
23:59J.Y.D. scoops him up.
24:01Big thump there
24:02by the junkyard dog.
24:04It's all over.
24:06Ladies and gentlemen,
24:07here's your winner,
24:08the Chief Judge Dog.
24:10I'd like to thank you again.
24:12I appreciate you having me out,
24:14and it's an honor
24:16to be involved with wrestling again.
24:19And like I told you,
24:20I'm looking forward
24:21of having one of the greatest teams
24:23in professional wrestling today.
24:27All right, Jim.
24:28Right there, we can see Mantell.
24:30As Yogi Berra thinks it,
24:31it's not over till it's over,
24:33and the Dog proved it to us.
24:34Junkyard Dog will meet Mean Mark.
24:36Here's Paul E. to talk about it.
24:38Tomorrow night,
24:39I'm at Danger Zone
24:40right here on TBS.
24:41Sting and I will share a peek,
24:43an exclusive peek
24:44at the Black Scorpion
24:45but Junkyard Dog
24:47signing a contract
24:48against Mean Mark Callis.
24:49You know, Mean Mark and I
24:50have bought you a present, my friend.
24:52We bought you one of those things
24:53for the old ladies
24:55that they go,
24:56oh, I've fallen,
24:57and I can't get up.
24:59Well, after Mean Mark Callis
25:00hits you with the heart punch,
25:01my friend,
25:02you won't have to use
25:03that little toy.
25:04You can use my phone
25:05and call 9-1-1 for free.
25:08Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
25:10Wrestling fans,
25:11the following contest,
25:12it is for one small.
25:15Introducing first,
25:16from Charlotte, North Carolina,
25:19weighing 242 pounds,
25:22he is six times
25:23former World Heavyweight Champion,
25:27Nature Boy, Ric Flair.
25:32And what a night it will be,
25:33ladies and gentlemen,
25:34right here on TBS Live,
25:35Wednesday night,
25:36September the 5th,
25:378.05 Eastern Time.
25:38The United States
25:39Heavyweight Championship
25:40hangs in the balance
25:41when the Nature Boy
25:42challenges the total package,
25:44Lex Luger.
25:45And Flair says
25:46he's going to be the hurter,
25:47not the hurt team.
25:48We'll talk more about that,
25:49but right now,
25:50let's go back up
25:51to Gary Michael Cappella.
25:54And his opponent
25:55from Los Angeles, California,
25:57weighing 233 pounds,
26:00Bob Holly.
26:04Bob Holly comes to us
26:05from the West Coast.
26:07Nature Boy, Ric Flair,
26:08of course,
26:09from Charlotte, North Carolina.
26:10And Flair,
26:11Bob says emphatically
26:12that he will be
26:13the seven-time
26:14World Heavyweight Champion.
26:17Well, you know,
26:18Lex Luger had a lot to say
26:19about that, too, Jim,
26:20and Luger said that
26:21Flair now is the chaser
26:22and Luger is the champion.
26:24And he's saying now,
26:25Flair, you gotta walk the aisle.
26:27And how many times
26:28have we heard in the past
26:29Ric Flair say that?
26:30I'm gonna be talking to Flair
26:31in the Horseman Live
26:32here on the program
26:33before we go off the air tonight.
26:37And we will talk to Flair
26:38about that situation
26:39and a little bit later,
26:40we'll hear some comments
26:42that Lex Luger made earlier today
26:43about his pending matchup
26:45at the Clash of Champions
26:46against Ric Flair.
26:48And now,
26:49it's time to hear
26:50some comments
26:51from Bob Holly.
26:52Let me remind you again,
26:53Friday night at 8 o'clock
26:54in Augusta, Georgia
26:55at the Civic Center.
26:56We'll be right there.
26:57And then next weekend,
26:58a big weekend,
26:59Saturday in Greensboro
27:00at the Coliseum
27:01and the Dothan Civic Center
27:02in Dothan, Alabama.
27:03And also on Sunday
27:04in Knoxville
27:05at the Civic Coliseum
27:06and Jekyll Island, Georgia
27:07at the Convention Center.
27:08All next weekend.
27:09Bob Holly really
27:10turning it on here.
27:11You've got to think that
27:12he has never been
27:13in the ring with anyone
27:14the stature of nature boy
27:15that he is.
27:16He has never been in the ring
27:17with anyone
27:18the stature of nature boy
27:19Ric Flair.
27:20Flair, a legend
27:21in his own time.
27:22Six times world's
27:23heavyweight champion
27:24and Bob Holly,
27:25quite frankly,
27:26has nothing to lose
27:27and everything to gain here
27:28in this matchup.
27:29Against the former
27:30world champion,
27:31he certainly does.
27:32And I tell you,
27:33Flair,
27:34when you talk about losing,
27:35Flair's got a lot
27:36to lose too, Jim.
27:37Supposing that he lost
27:38this match right here
27:39on television
27:40with that United States
27:41title match
27:42coming up the big night
27:43on September 5th.
27:44Flair's got to be
27:45careful.
27:46He can't afford
27:47an upset
27:48between now
27:49and that title match.
27:51Flair with a
27:52brutal chop there.
27:55Imagine the fact
27:56that he's a legend
27:57in his own time
27:58and he's certainly
27:59a six-time champion.
28:00Jim,
28:01he has determined
28:02that he's going to
28:03make it number seven
28:04and I wouldn't be
28:05one to bet against him.
28:06High elevation
28:07by Bob Holly.
28:08Flair up in the lights
28:09and nature boy
28:10Ric Flair,
28:11I'm sure,
28:12is somewhat surprised.
28:13To say we're surprised
28:14would be an understatement.
28:15Bob Holly showing
28:16a lot of fight
28:17and determination.
28:18Flair poked him
28:19in the eye
28:20and Ric's his eyes again
28:21and now the veteran
28:22taking over
28:23on Bob Holly,
28:24tossing him outside
28:25like a sack
28:26of groceries.
28:27Well,
28:28we talked about
28:29Sting wrestling somebody
28:30he didn't know
28:31anything about
28:32in the Black Scorpion.
28:33I'm not so sure
28:34since Holly comes
28:35from the West Coast
28:36that Ric Flair
28:37has ever seen him, Jim,
28:38and Flair may not
28:39really know
28:40the style of Holly
28:41and he may be
28:42having some trouble
28:43or he may be thinking
28:44about Lex Luger
28:45at the Clash of Champions
28:46or his next match.
28:47His match,
28:48his rematch
28:49with Sting
28:50for the world title.
28:51In any event,
28:52Ric Flair now
28:53opening up on Bob Holly
28:54really asserting himself,
28:55sending Holly for the ride,
28:56nails him with the elbow.
28:57Flair,
28:58the vocal leader
28:59of the Horsemen.
29:00You know what I've
29:01thought about, pal.
29:02And what a group
29:03the Horsemen
29:04are right now.
29:05Ric Flair,
29:06the former world champion.
29:07You've got
29:08Big Barry Wyndham
29:09and of course
29:10you've got
29:11the world
29:13TV champion
29:14in there
29:15in Arne Anderson
29:16and then Sid Fischus
29:17to round it out.
29:19Holly trying to fight back.
29:20He's giving it all he can.
29:22Kick to the midsection.
29:25Flair back in the corner.
29:26Holly's trying to make
29:27Haywell a sunshines here.
29:29I'll tell you one thing,
29:30you don't want to get
29:31too overconfident
29:32against Flair.
29:35Flair brings him out.
29:36Inverted atomic drop.
29:37He planted him
29:38on that one.
29:40Tremendous velocity
29:41and force there
29:42on that inverted atomic drop
29:44and a well-placed foot
29:45right to the face.
29:47Flair is so expert,
29:48so adept
29:50at every single offensive
29:52move in the sport
29:53and those chops
29:54are beyond compare.
29:56Well, and when you think
29:57you've got him,
29:58Flair is always thinking.
29:59He's thinking ahead
30:00when he gets in
30:01the predicament.
30:02What am I going to do
30:03and what am I going
30:04to be doing next?
30:05But he's thinking
30:06offense at all times
30:07even when he's being
30:08cornered.
30:09A lot of great rivalries
30:10in sports.
30:12Football season
30:13is upon us.
30:14Great football rivalries
30:15but no rivalry
30:16in wrestling
30:18can out-distance
30:19the competitiveness
30:22between Ric Flair
30:23and Lex Luger.
30:24The two men
30:25that the fans can see
30:26live right here
30:27on TBS
30:28Wednesday night,
30:29September 5th
30:30as it happens
30:31just as we will be able
30:32to see at ringside
30:33in Nashville,
30:34North Carolina.
30:35And that's 805
30:36Eastern Time, fans.
30:37You don't want to miss
30:38a single bit of that action.
30:39There are 10 great matches
30:40on tap that night, Jim.
30:44Lady wrestlers
30:45on the card.
30:46The Women's World Championship
30:47will be defended.
30:49And Flair now
30:52methodically dissecting
30:54young Bob Holley.
30:55Drops him
30:56right across the
30:57security railing.
30:59And the six-time
31:00champion of the world
31:01is showing us
31:02just exactly
31:03how skilled he is.
31:05He's been to the wars.
31:06He's fought the very best.
31:07He's defeated the very best
31:09time and time again.
31:10When you talk about
31:11a skilled veteran,
31:12nobody stands any taller
31:14than does Ric Flair.
31:18You know, I find it
31:19somewhat suspicious
31:20that with Sid Vicious,
31:22Arne Anderson,
31:23and Barry Whitney
31:24not signed to wrestle
31:26at the Clash,
31:27but I think it's obvious
31:29that they will be there
31:30because one of their comrades,
31:32a fellow horseman,
31:33competing for the
31:34United States
31:35Heavyweight Championship,
31:36and we know
31:37that the horsemen
31:38have a keen interest
31:39in Sting's matchup
31:40with the unknown
31:41Black Scorpion.
31:42I was gonna say, Jim,
31:43we're even hearing
31:44some little rumblings
31:45around in some
31:46of the dressing rooms.
31:47Do the horsemen
31:48have anything to do
31:49with the Black Scorpion?
31:50We don't know.
31:51We can't say.
31:52But you're beginning
31:53to pick up little things
31:54about that around
31:55in some of the
31:56dressing rooms.
31:57Well, Flair denied that
31:58on the recent
31:59Louisville Slugger
32:00with Jim Cornell
32:01in the Power Hour,
32:02and Flair drops the elbow.
32:04School's in session here.
32:06Now we go to school.
32:08Whoo!
32:09He's got a Ph.D. in pain.
32:11We're gonna go to school.
32:13Here it comes.
32:14An advanced degree
32:15in the figure four.
32:16No one does it any better
32:17than Nature Boy Ric Flair.
32:19The bell has rung.
32:20School is out.
32:21Ladies and gentlemen,
32:23the winner of the match,
32:24six-time former world
32:26heavyweight champion,
32:27Nature Boy,
32:29Ric Flair!
32:32Well, Lex Luger knows
32:33he's in for the
32:34fight of his life
32:35live here on TBS
32:36on September 5th
32:37at the Clash
32:38as we take another look
32:39at this figure four.
32:40The master of the figure four,
32:42Nature Boy Ric Flair
32:43as he locks it down
32:44tight on Holley.
32:45No way Holley's gonna
32:46get out of that.
32:47We've seen Flair win
32:48many a many a bout,
32:49including championships
32:50with a figure four,
32:51and here's another
32:52win for him.
32:53And now let's hear
32:54these comments
32:55from the United States
32:56heavyweight champion,
32:57the total package,
32:59You know, there's been
33:00some big-time rivals
33:01in the sport of
33:02professional wrestling,
33:03but two names come to mind
33:04that are as big as any,
33:05and that's Nature Boy
33:06Ric Flair
33:07and the total package,
33:08Lex Luger.
33:09But you know,
33:10we've never finished it.
33:11There's unfinished business.
33:12And on the Clash of Champions
33:13for the first time
33:14live on national TV
33:15in front of everybody,
33:16man, that makes
33:17my adrenaline flow.
33:18It's pumping
33:19through my veins, man,
33:20because Nature Boy,
33:21we haven't settled things.
33:22We haven't got it.
33:23When you want to get
33:24to the core of the horseman,
33:25you go to Ric Flair.
33:26I got something.
33:27When you want Nature Boy,
33:28well, this time,
33:29you come and get it.
33:30You walk that aisle.
33:31From the heartlands
33:32of the south,
33:33Tracy's brothers,
33:34Steve Armstrong,
33:35the wild-eyed
33:36southern boys.

33:50the total package,
33:51Lex Luger
33:52and the total package,
33:53Lex Luger.
33:54Ladies and gentlemen,

33:56the total package,
33:57462 pounds
33:58from Trenton, Georgia,
33:59Pat Rose.
34:00From Knoxville, Tennessee,

34:02The southern boys
34:03and the Bullet Bob Armstrong
34:04to take on
34:05the three Freebirds.
34:06Here's what the Freebirds
34:07had to say
34:08about their pending matchup
34:09at the Clash of Champions.
34:10Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
34:11Right here on TVS,
34:12September 5th,

34:17and Daddy-O.
34:18And Daddy,
34:19you better believe this.
34:20You better believe this.
34:21You better believe this.
34:22You better believe this.
34:23You better believe this.
34:24You better believe this.
34:25You better believe this.
34:26We're not coming to win.
34:27We're coming to hurt.
34:30The Freebirds
34:31certainly ready
34:32for their six-man tag team event.
34:33And fans,
34:34speaking of the Clash,

34:40And another team,
34:41Jim,
34:42that I don't know
34:43anything about.
34:44I'll be anxious
34:45next week
34:46to find out more
34:47about them.
34:48And hopefully,
34:49by next week,
34:50we'll know more
34:51about the Black Scorpions.
34:52Wild-eyed southern boys.
34:53They are quick.
34:54They're like cheetahs
34:55chasing meat.
34:56Well,
34:57they're always on the move.
34:58They slow it down.
34:59They want the
35:00just as fast a tempo
35:01in the ring
35:02as they can possibly get.
35:03And they keep it up
35:04tempo all the time.
35:05Never slow down.
35:08Good arm drag takeover
35:09by Tracy Smothers.
35:10Oh, Pat Rose.
35:12Well,
35:13it's gonna be
35:14a fast-moving match.
35:15Yeah,
35:16and Rose needs to get over
35:17to make a tag.
35:18He's in the corner.
35:19He should reach up now
35:20and make a tag to Kazana.
35:21You know, Bob,
35:22our referees have done
35:23a great program.
35:24Randy Anderson,
35:25Mike Atkins,
35:26of course,
35:27senior referee Nick Patrick.
35:28Sometimes,
35:29being a pro wrestling referee
35:30is like being a fire hydrant
35:31at a dog show.
35:32You don't get a lot of respect.
35:33It's a tough job.
35:34Anyway you want to mention it,
35:35it's a tough job.
35:36Let me remind you again,
35:37fans,
35:38tomorrow night,
35:39right here at 605
35:40on CBS,
35:41on the NWA main event,
35:42you'll see Lex Luger
35:43in action
35:44and for the first time,
35:45the Nasty Boys, Jim.
35:46It's gonna be
35:47a great program.
35:48Paul Lee
35:49will investigate further
35:50just who is
35:51the Black Scorpion.
35:52By Steve Armstrong
35:53who will team
35:54with his father,
35:55Bob Armstrong
35:56and partner Tracy Smothers
35:57to take on
35:58Buddy E. Lee Roberts,
35:59Michael Hazel,
36:00Jimmy Garvin.
36:01Yeah,
36:02how about General Buddy E?
36:03He thinks he's a general
36:04or something.
36:05Jimmy's Southern Boys
36:06will both have
36:07good size on them.
36:08They're both big,
36:09tall,
36:10ganging athletes
36:11and both of them
36:12are so extremely quick.
36:13Now,
36:14the Nasty Boys
36:15will be
36:16in action
36:17and for the first time,
36:18the Nasty Boys
36:19will take on
36:20Buddy E. Lee Roberts
36:22Nice arm bar there
36:23by Steve Armstrong.
36:27Outstanding young guys
36:28too, Bob,
36:29as far as being
36:30good role models
36:31for the kids.
36:32These kids train hard,
36:33they eat right,
36:34they have set lofty goals,
36:35realistic goals
36:36and I really believe
36:37we've used this cliche
36:38as we've used
36:39many of them
36:40in our career
36:41but I really think
36:42their best is yet to come.
36:43These are gonna be
36:44two kids we're gonna
36:45hear a lot about
36:46in the 90s.
36:47I don't think
36:48there's any doubt
36:49about that, Jim.
36:50It's beginning now
36:51to really blossom
36:52into bloom
36:53and there's just no telling
36:54how far they're gonna go.
36:55You know, Bob,
36:56we were talking before
36:57in the air
36:58about the wrestling hotline
36:59and I've got a couple
37:00of pieces of information
37:01that really haven't been
37:02documented
37:03but we're gonna talk
37:04about it tonight
37:05on the wrestling hotline.
37:06I hope your fans
37:07will tune in
37:08all about the clash
37:09and what we think
37:10might happen
37:11about the Black Scorpion.
37:12I was gonna say
37:13they can call you
37:14on the hotline
37:15at 1-900-909-9900.
37:16That's tonight.
37:17Call me tonight
37:18on the Ross Report.
37:46I'll tell you something.
37:47You talk about, well, how will they team?
37:49How will they, how will their teamwork be, their cohesiveness be with Bob Armstrong?
37:54Bob Armstrong had a profound influence on both, obviously, his son's career and Tracy's mother's.
37:59Yeah.
38:00And you can tell, Jim, these two young men, they live, breathe, eat, and sleep tag team wrestling.
38:05That's just how well they work together as a tag team.
38:09Kazana tried a cheap shot there, but Armstrong blocked it.
38:14Comes up with some right hands of his own.
38:16Sends Kazana for the ride.
38:18And Kazana, nice move there by Joe Kazana, sticking the foot right in the face of Steve Armstrong.
38:25Armstrong, that time, got a little bit ahead of himself.
38:28He went charging in.
38:30You just can't do that when you've got a man in the corner.
38:33High cross body.
38:35Nice move.
38:36High cross body.
38:37Nice move there.
38:38Good offensive move by Steve Armstrong.
38:40Got a two count.
38:41Comes back with the arm drag into the arm bar.
38:44Looked like he had him pinned.
38:45That was a good quick two count, too, Jim, with that cross body.
38:47He got high in the air for that.
38:49You know, Bob, we talked about the big event tonight in Baltimore.
38:51Tomorrow night in Chicago.
38:52Monday in Gainesville at the Georgia Mountain Center.
38:55Another event I wanted to remind the fans of.
38:58In my home state of Oklahoma, we'll be in Tulsa at the convention center on Thursday night, September the 6th.
39:03One of the biggest cards ever in Tulsa.
39:05I've been there for a lot of big ones, and none can match up to the one we're going to see there on September the 6th.
39:10Great, Jim.
39:12Thursday night, September 6th.
39:15Pat Rosenow tags back in.
39:17Rosenow wanted to put the Dukes up there.
39:20Square off.
39:21I don't think I would do that.
39:22Not with a height and a reach advantage that Smothers would have on me.
39:25Smothers also got a great martial arts background.
39:27We've seen him really use those educated feet quite well.
39:33Rose downstairs.
39:34Ooh, one right to the face there.
39:36Sends Smothers to the far side.
39:38Catches him with a sleep hole.
39:41Tell you one thing, the reputation of the Southern boys hasn't impressed Rose and Kazanah any.
39:46They're competitors, but a nice reversal by Tracy Smothers.
39:51Tag made.
39:52Here comes Joe Kazanah.
39:53Kazanah wanted to take advantage of that moment.
39:55But Smothers very quickly and adeptly moved out of the way.
40:01These two young men in their early 20s certainly have a high level of skill in virtually every area of pro wrestling,
40:08mat wrestling, aerial wrestling, offensively, defensively.
40:13That rose interrupted the count, and that may get him in trouble.
40:18Double shoulder block by the wild-eyed Southern boys.
40:22Rosenow out of the picture.
40:24Kazanah sent for the ride.
40:25He's up from the lights there.
40:30Flying elbow off the top rope.
40:32Wild-eyed Southern boys on the way to the cash in a showdown with the birds.
40:38Here are your winners, Tracy Smothers, Steve Armstrong, the wild-eyed Southern boys.
40:48All right, fans, the Southern boys are the winners,
40:50and we can go back and watch it again with that flying elbow high off of the top rope.
40:55Tracy Smothers, one, two, three at this point, and it's all over.
41:00Thanks very much, Bob Coll.
41:01It's showdown time at the Clash.
41:03Showdown is right.
41:05And what it is, it's the destiny of Lex Luger to be beaten for the U.S. title.
41:12Luger, you dogged me for two long years.
41:17Everywhere I went, your name was on a contract for a world title match.
41:23This time, the shoes had another foot.
41:28You have to defend the U.S. title against Ric Flair.
41:36National television, the whole world up front.
41:41Between you and I, Luger, there's a lot of bad blood, pal,
41:46and I'm going to make one thing very clear to you.
41:49National television, Clash of Champions, September 5th,
41:53Ric Flair will become the United States heavyweight champion.
42:00If I have to beat you to get this thing, mark my words, turn the TV on,
42:08because the people around the world will see the greatest wrestler of all time
42:16come back, full cycle, starting with Lex Luger, September 5th.
42:24And we'll see you Sunday night at 6.05.
42:27♪♪♪
