00:00It's been just weeks since Kamala Harris was catapulted into the top spot as Democratic
00:04nominee to be the next President of the United States. And with less than 10 weeks to Election
00:10Day, she is seeking to quickly bring the American public up to speed on who she is and what she
00:15stands for. In her first interview as candidate televised on CNN, she sought to defend her shift
00:21away from some of her more liberal positions, such as her reversal on banning fracking and
00:27decriminalising illegal border crossings. My values have not changed. I believe it is
00:32very important that we take seriously what we must do to guard against what is a clear
00:39crisis in terms of the climate. When it came to foreign policy and the divisive topic of the
00:44Middle East, she echoed President Joe Biden's stance and made clear she would not suspend US
00:50armed shipments to Israel. I am unequivocal and unwavering in my commitment to Israel's defence
00:58and its ability to defend itself. And that's not going to change. And how it does so matters.
01:05Far too many innocent Palestinians have been killed. And we have got to get a deal done.
01:14But her highest priority on day one, if she is elected, she says, is to support and strengthen
01:19the middle class. The next big event on the campaign calendar will be her first major debate
01:25with Donald Trump, highly anticipated and slated for September 10.
