00:00We're here to officially launch the 2024 intake of our trainees and apprentices, we do this

00:10every year, it's really, really exciting. We've got lots of opportunities on offer this year.

00:15Water operations team in our waste management facility, in survey and design, anything from

00:21administration to aquatics and sports and recreation, so in our parks and gardens team,

00:27lots and lots of opportunities. Some other roles that we've got as well are in our transport

00:32operations team, we've got a number of roles there and some of those roles are actually

00:36targeted roles this year, so targeted roles are specifically targeted at Aboriginal and

00:40Torres Strait Islander trainees and we're very excited to be offering that.

00:44So far I've completed my training at TAFE NSW, gained so many skills from that just alone,

00:57let alone the work side of things, so it's been an absolute pleasure to be here and

01:02yeah continue to develop and yeah it's been great.

01:05Yeah so I work in the sports and rec division and I'm at the Marsupial Park

01:11and the Botanic Gardens. I've always been an animal lover, that's something yeah that like

01:16drew me in, yes like because I've done some previous courses but yeah in the council I got to

01:22do a Cert 3 in horticulture. We've had really good uptake of the program, our number of applications

01:30keep growing every year which is something that we're really proud of and it shows success I guess.

01:35If someone was considering doing like this kind of job I'd say just go for it, like you

01:40step right outside your comfort zone. As I said like you're going to be doing things that you

01:45never thought you'd do and it just opens your mind up to a whole new world and it helps you

01:50build confidence just you know when you're every day like doing any kind of daily tasks that you're

01:56doing and yeah just go for it, it's so much fun, like it's definitely like well worth it and

02:02rewarding. I'd 100% recommend it.
