01:13of English, German, Irish, and Scottish descent.
01:16Her father, Scott Kingsley Swift, is a stockbroker for Merrill Lynch, and her mother, Andrea,
01:21is a marketing executive.
01:22Andrea named her daughter after James Taylor, the famed folk rock singer, in hopes that
01:26a gender-neutral name might benefit Taylor in her career.
01:29Three years later, Andrea gave birth to Swift's younger brother, Austin, and began working
01:33as a stay-at-home mom.
01:35She made sure to include music and art in her kids' lives, taking Taylor to Broadway
01:38and New York regularly for acting and singing lessons.
01:41Taylor started to take a liking to country music, inspired by Shania Twain, Faith Hill,
01:46and other female artists.
01:47She began singing at small venues and won a talent competition when she was 11 that

03:56This was the beginning of some bad blood between Kanye, his then-wife Kim Kardashian, and Swift

04:10The star fired back about her reputation on songs like Blank Space, addressing her media

05:07acquired the masters to Taylor's first six albums.
05:10And this would be the moment she knew that everything has changed.
05:13Taylor publicly disproved of this, calling Braun a manipulative bully and having the
05:17epiphany to re-record her first six albums to create new masters, allowing her to own
05:22her discography.

06:15for $47.7 million.
06:18Her first spot in the big city was made back in 2014, when she bought two neighboring penthouses
06:22in the Tribeca neighborhood for $19.95 million.
06:26Then in 2018, Taylor also snagged the second-floor complex in the same building for almost $10
06:31million, which spans over 3,500 square feet of space.

06:37This Tribeca duplex has amazing features such as an indoor pool, a master suite with floor-to-ceiling
06:42windows, a double-height living room with a fireplace and ornate chandelier, and a cozier
06:47den that has yet another fireplace and beamed ceilings overhead.
06:51Also in 2017, Taylor bought a 100-year-old, four-level townhome next door for $18 million,
06:57which boasted features like a gym, a spa, antique wide-plank wood floors, and a planted
07:02terrace with a Japanese paper-glass wall.
07:04The townhouse boasted seven bedrooms and six baths in total, with three of the bedrooms
07:08located in a next-door apartment.
07:10When Taylor needs a getaway, she has her Rhode Island mansion to escape to, which she reportedly
07:14snagged in an all-cash deal for $17.75 million.
07:18The property sits on five acres of land with over 700 feet of beachfront, not to mention
07:23it's on the highest point in Watch Hill, giving Swift amazing views of the water.
07:27This Rhode Island estate spans 12,000 square feet inside with eight beds, nine baths, and
07:32eight fireplaces throughout, not to mention plenty of space for all of her guests when
07:36she throws her summer parties.
07:37No cruel summers here, but being a Nashville native, of course Taylor also owns property
07:43here as well.
07:44One of her first-ever real estate purchases was in 2009 when she bought a penthouse on
07:48Nashville's Music Row for $1.9 million, which spans over 3,200 square feet of space.
07:54It's a corner unit with three bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms over two levels.
07:59Other amenities in the building itself include a heated Olympic-length pool and a gym.
08:03Now, while Taylor spends much of her time on the East Coast, she still has an L.A. pad
08:07to retreat to.
08:08In 2018, Taylor sold two of her properties in Beverly Hills, a Cape Cod-style cottage
08:13for $4 million and a smaller single-story guesthouse property for just under $3 million.
08:17However, she did hang on to one West Coast property, a 1934 Georgian Revival estate she
08:22bought for $25 million back in 2015.
08:26The mansion formerly belonged to Hollywood producer Samuel Goldwyn until Taylor purchased
08:30it, and it spans 10,982 square feet of space.
08:34Inside the home boasts seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, as well as an old Hollywood vibe

08:39Most recently, Taylor gained approval from the Beverly Hills Cultural Heritage Commission
