00:00It's really, really difficult to build online support networks
00:04because we've got the constant worry that it's going to be infiltrated
00:08by our actual exes or by their supporters
00:12because they don't agree with what we're trying to do.
00:15Any vetting process is really time-consuming and not infallible.
00:21So making connections with other women is really, really difficult.
00:26We can't meet somewhere and talk about it,
00:31be open about how it is for us,
00:34how difficult it is to deal with it,
00:37because then we're considered transphobes
00:41or otherwise somehow despicable people.
00:46And that's a big problem, of course.
00:49That's why I'm glad that there are the trans widows,
00:52where women have joined forces and are against it,
00:55and raise their voices and say,
00:58Hello, we also exist.
00:59We also play a role here and we also have something to say.
01:02And we don't let ourselves be silenced here,
01:05forbid our language.
01:07That's why I'm very, very grateful to these women
01:09and I admire them very much for what they do.
01:12I was lucky enough to make friends completely by accident
01:15with another woman who had gotten a divorce
01:18from a trans-identified male who was very disturbed,
01:21much more violent.
01:22And we spent weeks just kind of unloading our stories on each other.
01:26And it's been so invaluable.
01:28Talking and connecting with people who are grounded in reality
01:32has been really helpful.
01:34It really improves my mental health and mental stability.
01:39It often feels though that our stories
01:41are just whispers in a storm.
01:43You know, it's so important to be seen by other women.
01:46It's made a huge difference to my mental health
01:48and my confidence,
01:49and it's undone a lot of the gaslighting
01:50that I was exposed to in the relationship.
