Teacher Kaitlin Roig reported to officers that she believed the suspect had stolen her phone. They immediately began the process to ping her phone, as there was still worry there was a second suspect. After their first successful ping, they sent a team out to begin a canvas just outside the ping perimeter. This is footage of them doing exactly that. In total, they made 2 successful pings and 1 unsuccessful. It was then later photographed in her room and seized as evidence (Exhibit #86). We have no idea if it was there the whole time, if it was placed there, if the latter was ever looked into, who made the discovery or even why it was seized permanently as evidence. We just know that it was.
