00:00You know what, we actually did adopt a dog together already but then it ate my passport
00:05and so I took her back to the home." Lily Allen is responding to receiving death threats after
00:10revealing that she returned her adopted dog. The singer comments on Instagram about backlash she's
00:17received for recently saying she and husband David Harbour found a new home for their adopted dog
00:24Mary after it ate her family's passports. She writes on August 25th,
00:30I have never been accused of mistreating an animal and I've found this whole week very
00:35distressing. The 39-year-old goes on to accuse tabloids of releasing a deliberately distorted
00:42cobbling together of quotes designed to make people angry. Lily clarifies previous comments
00:48noting that her family gave it their all with the pup writing the dog couldn't be left alone
00:53for more than 10 minutes. She had three long walks a day, two by us and one with a local dog walker
01:00and several other dogs. We worked with the shelter that we rescued her from and they referred us to
01:06a behavioral specialist and a professional trainer. The smiles singer's comments come after
01:12the August 22nd episode of her Miss Me podcast when she revealed she and her fam are getting
01:18ready to welcome a new dog into their home. She explained that they already tried with one pup
01:23but a passport incident was the straw that broke the camel's back. You know what we actually did
01:29adopt a dog together already but then it ate my passport and so I took her back to the home.
01:34Got it. It ate your passport. That's a hungry dog. She ate all three of our passports and they had
01:41our visas in and I cannot tell you how much money it cost me to get everything replaced because it
01:47was in COVID and so it was just an absolute logistical nightmare and because my the father
01:52of my children lives in England I couldn't get them back to see their dad for like four months.
01:58I was like you've ruined my life. Yeah she was also like you know passports weren't the only
02:06thing she ate. She was a very badly behaved dog and I really tried very hard with her but it just
02:12didn't work out and the passports was this was the straw that broke the camel's back so to speak.
02:17Lily accuses some tabloids of leaving out that part of the story where she detailed that her
02:22family did indeed try very hard for a long time with the dog. The songwriter who has been married
02:28to Stranger Things star David Harbour since 2020 clarifies saying after many months and much
02:34deliberation the family ultimately agreed their home wasn't a good fit for Mary and she was placed
02:41with someone known to the family. Lily asks her audience to stop acting on clickbait articles
02:48noting it is distortion and all you are doing by engaging with these stories is making more
02:53money for people who profit from sowing diversion and tearing us all apart.
