00:00Kimberly Guilfoyle has faced darkness throughout her life, but that doesn't mean she's an angel.
00:06From Fox News misconduct to her part in the insurrection, Guilfoyle has her own list of
00:10sins.
00:12Kimberly Guilfoyle comes from a working-class immigrant background in San Francisco.
00:17According to the Mercury News, her mother, Mercedes Marie Girino, was a teacher who moved
00:20to California from Puerto Rico.
00:23Kimberly's father, Anthony Guilfoyle, was an Irish immigrant who worked in construction
00:26and real estate.
00:28Kimberly Guilfoyle said she and her mother were close, telling Mediate,
00:31"'My mother was just everything to me.
00:34I loved her so much.
00:35I always wanted to be around her.
00:37I loved how I saw people react to her."
00:39Tragically, Girino died of leukemia when her children were still young.
00:43Speaking about her mother's illness and death, Guilfoyle told Mediate that healing was a
00:47long and grueling process.
00:49That early loss informed many of her decisions and motivations throughout her life.
00:53I had to really rely on that valuable time that I had with my mom and the impressions
00:59that she left on me."
01:01Although she eventually became known as a top prosecutor, Kimberly Guilfoyle faced some
01:05challenges in her legal career.
01:07According to SFGate, she had to work hard to be taken seriously in her field.
01:11While attending the University of San Francisco, she modeled to pay for school, a fact that
01:16her critics often used to belittle Guilfoyle.
01:18Her career struggles started as early as her first professional legal position.
01:23After graduating and briefly working as a teacher, Guilfoyle landed a job at the San
01:26Francisco District Attorney's Office.
01:29It was an excellent opportunity at the same office where she had interned during law school
01:33and could have been an exciting start to her career in her hometown.
01:36Unfortunately, her time at the office ended prematurely when District Attorney Terrence
01:40Hallinan took over and promptly fired 14 deputy district attorneys, including Guilfoyle.
01:46Hallinan replaced District Attorney Arlo Smith, whom Guilfoyle and many others had worked
01:50to re-elect.
01:52Hallinan was accused of discriminatory treatment for letting people go based on age, sex, race,
01:57and political affiliation, though he denied these claims, according to SFGate.
02:02Upon losing her first position, Guilfoyle was forced to relocate from San Francisco
02:06to Los Angeles, where she continued working in the L.A. District Attorney's Office and
02:10built her reputation as a prosecutor.
02:13Looking at Kimberly Guilfoyle's current political views and her zealous support of the Trumps,
02:17it might come as a surprise that she was once married to Gavin Newsom.
02:21The current Democratic governor of California, Guilfoyle told The Mercury News that she's
02:26been a registered Republican since college.
02:28But it seems she and Newsom put some of those differences aside.
02:32In the early 2000s, they were seen as the next political power couple.
02:36Harper's Bazaar even published an eight-page spread on the pair via The Washington Post.
02:41Newsom was mayor of San Francisco at the time, and Guilfoyle told the magazine that she'd,
02:46quote, gladly vote for him if he ran for president.
02:49However, their marriage ended after just a few years, and the pair announced their
02:52split in January 2005.
02:55Guilfoyle's career in broadcast journalism was taking off, causing her to divide her
02:58time between California and New York.
03:01The couple said this distance was hard to overcome, writing in a statement,
03:05"'Unfortunately, the demands of our respective careers have made it too difficult for us
03:09to continue as a married couple.'"
03:11Though public statements claimed the divorce was amicable, the real reason may have been
03:15more scandalous.
03:17It was later revealed that Newsom had an affair with Ruby Rippey Twork, his secretary, according
03:22to People magazine.
03:24Their affair wasn't public knowledge until 2007, but it reportedly occurred in 2005,
03:29when Guilfoyle and Newsom were going through their divorce, linking her to the cheating
03:33scandal.
03:35Kimberly Guilfoyle's career as an assistant district attorney gained national attention
03:38when she was assigned as a prosecutor in a controversial dog mauling case.
03:43ABC News reported on the 2001 case in which an 120-pound dog mauled a woman to death right
03:48outside her apartment.
03:50The mauling involved two dogs in the care of Robert Noel and Marjorie Knoller.
03:54Noel and Knoller were husband-and-wife defense lawyers and neighbors of the victim.
03:59The dogs were Canarios, a large Mastiff breed.
04:02They'd originally belonged to Paul Schneider, a convict the lawyers had become close to.
04:07But tragedy ensued when Knoller lost control of the dogs, which attacked their neighbor.
04:12As a prosecutor on the case, Guilfoyle charged Knoller with second-degree murder.
04:16The high-profile case garnered much media attention, and Guilfoyle received threats
04:20to her life, reportedly from Schneider, telling Fox News,
04:24"...I had a contract out of my life to have me killed because they didn't like the Puerto
04:29Rican lawyer that was prosecuting these people."
04:33After her divorce from Gavin Newsom, Kimberly Guilfoyle was quick to remarry in May 2006.
04:38However, she steered clear of politicians in her second union, instead marrying Eric
04:42Valencia, the president and chief executive of Maurice Valencia, a furniture company founded
04:47by his grandfather.
04:49The pair had a son, Ronan, but split in 2009.
04:52Speaking to Mediaite about her divorces, Guilfoyle said that in marriage, it's important to not
04:57be afraid of admitting it isn't working.
04:59Unfortunately, things didn't work between them, either.
05:02But Guilfoyle said she maintains a good relationship with her ex-husband.
05:06Even though they're divorced, Guilfoyle says she's still very close with Valencia's family,
05:10adding,
05:11"...even when people don't stay married, they can still be a family together.
05:15When you go through divorce with children, you don't make it about you."
05:18Speaking about the short marriage, divorce lawyer Christine Previte told The List it's
05:22unlikely Guilfoyle got much of a settlement because, quote, most of Valencia's wealth
05:26was premarital.
05:28The lawyer added it was, quote, unlikely she got much financially from her husband in terms
05:33of property distribution.
05:35But on the positive side, the pair left the relationship amicably, and they have their
05:38son to show for it.
05:40Kimberly Guilfoyle became a household name through her time as a Fox News personality.
05:45It was during co-hosting the network's panel show The Five that she rose to prominence
05:49within the Republican Party.
05:51She also began dating Donald Trump Jr. at this time.
05:54Her stardom was clearly on the rise until it was abruptly announced that she would be
05:57leaving the network in 2018.
06:00Fox remained vague about the circumstances of her departure.
06:03The New York Times quoted their brief statement, saying they had parted ways with Kimberly
06:07Guilfoyle.
06:09But the true nature of her dismissal may be more sinister.
06:12Guilfoyle denies any claims of wrongdoing and maintains she left Fox voluntarily, but
06:17others report she was fired.
06:19According to an investigation by The New Yorker, a former assistant accused Guilfoyle of workplace
06:24misconduct leading to her sudden departure.
06:27The assistant wrote a 42-page draft complaint about Guilfoyle, which was never legally filed.
06:33But if true, it paints a rather grim picture of Guilfoyle.
06:37Among other things, the draft complaint accuses Guilfoyle of being naked in front of her assistant,
06:43showing her assistant sexually explicit photos and demanding a massage of her bare thighs.
06:48The assistant also claims that when outside lawyers were brought in to investigate sexual
06:52misconduct at Fox, Guilfoyle offered hush money.
06:56These allegations never went to court, but Fox did pay the assistant an undisclosed sum,
07:00presumably to avoid trial.
07:03Kimberly Guilfoyle and Donald Trump Jr. began dating in 2018 and were engaged in 2022.
07:09The couple seems like a perfect match, especially considering what a loud supporter Guilfoyle
07:14has been of the Trump administration.
07:15I think that's benefiting from your dad's presidency, but not that my opinion matters.
07:23But sources say the feeling has not always been mutual, and there are many rumors the
07:27Trumps disapprove of the relationship.
07:29The Trumps' distaste for Guilfoyle may go back before she and Don Jr. started dating.
07:35Guilfoyle reportedly was in talks for the White House press secretary role in 2017,
07:39but a former White House aide told The Atlantic in 2019 that Guilfoyle wasn't seriously considered
07:44for the position, saying,
07:47Even Donald Trump can tell the difference between the attracted women on Fox who have
07:50a little bit of substance and those who will be derided as airheads.
07:55Another source told The Atlantic that there was continued disapproval after Guilfoyle
07:59attended a White House Fourth of July party with Don Jr.
08:03The couple drew so much press attention that Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump felt overlooked.
08:08Don Jr. was told he would need approval for guests in the future.
08:12But from all appearances, Guilfoyle and Don Jr. are in it for the long haul, and the rest
08:16of the family will just have to adjust.
08:19With rumors circulating about the family's disapproval, Eric Trump spoke to Page Six
08:23to put them to rest, adding,
08:25I completely disagree with the narrative and happen to think the world of Kimberly.
08:30As a diehard Trump supporter and partner of Donald Trump Jr., Kimberly Guilfoyle was heavily
08:35involved in the 2020 re-election campaign.
08:38She was appointed the president's national finance chair and gave an impassioned speech
08:42at the 2020 Republican National Convention, which quickly became a political meme.
08:47It seems her fervor for Trump's presidency remained even after he lost the 2020 run.
08:52In March 2022, Forbes reported that Guilfoyle was being subpoenaed for her role in the January
08:576th insurrection.
08:59The deadly insurrection occurred on January 6th, 2021, when Trump supporters stormed the
09:04Capitol while Congress was in the process of affirming Joe Biden as the president of
09:08the United States.
09:10Immediately preceding the riot, Trump supporters gathered for a stop-the-steal rally.
09:14Many point to this rally as inciting the riot, and Guilfoyle's role in planning the event
09:18was called into question.
09:20The January 6th committee tweeted that Guilfoyle was subpoenaed due to evidence that she was
09:25in direct contact with key individuals, raised funds for the rally immediately preceding
09:30the violent attack on the Capitol, and participated in that event.
09:34Guilfoyle also gave a short introductory speech at the rally, for which she was reportedly
09:38paid $60,000.
09:41We will continue to stand for President Trump, stand with him and for this country.
