00:00We now have approval of the 24-25 COVID-19 vaccine. It's targeted toward the variants we
00:08see circulating in this country and around the world right now. Based on what we've seen going
00:13back to 2020, you know, we have now seen increases in COVID-19 disease, the biggest increase in the
00:20wintertime with smaller increases in the summer. We have needed to give modified or updated vaccines
00:28each year with some additional doses needed for our immune-compromised patients and older adults,
00:34and I think this very well may become an annual process. We have not done a great job getting
00:40people vaccinated for COVID to this point in this country. The group that's gotten most vaccinated
00:45are post-65 and older, and that's good because that's the group at the highest risk for
00:50hospitalization, but COVID leads to severe disease and hospitalization in people of all ages.
00:57We need to get everyone vaccinated six months of age and older. The vaccine is safe. It is effective
01:05mostly at preventing severe disease, but it also prevents infection for a period of months.
01:10Please get vaccinated. Take care of yourself, your family, and your community.
