The NHS in wales looks like it faces new problems every week, and the most recent figures show another record for longest waiting times being set. These records seem to get broken every time they’re announced, and people here in Cardiff today tell me despite the hard work of staff, something needs to be done to fix the problems.

00:00Maybe not quite so recently, but I've had my appendix out when I was 60 and I was rushed in.
00:08No problem, done. I've had my gallbladder out, in, no problem.
00:13The only difficulty is getting an appointment with your GP.
00:19But other than that, no problems really. Everything's fine.
00:23No, it's always been crumbling a bit, but it needs a bit of popping up, I think.
00:30Maybe a bit more lottery money or something, you know.
00:34Yes, it could do a lot worse. It could be a lot worse.
00:40I was based up in the Heath and in Valinda Hospital.
00:42Valinda, obviously second to none, there's nothing up there.
00:45They get you in as quick as they can, people second to none.
00:48Heath Hospital are trying to do their best with what they've got,
00:51but obviously if they're stuck with their budgets and things, they can only do so much.
00:55But yes, there's a lot of people there, there was people on trolleys and that's the way it goes.
01:00But it would be nice if we could get something sorted,
01:02but failed government from last government and see what happens this time.
01:06I had to have a major brain operation last year and the service I had was amazing.
01:13And since, the after, so yes, I can't complain.
01:19I think you've just got to accept that when you're on the waiting list,
01:24you can only get a pint out of a pint pot.
01:26And if I'm on the waiting list and you come in as a more emergency,
01:30I'm sure you'd prefer to go before me than wait.
01:33So it's all about that.
01:35But for general waiting, consultancy and stuff like that, horrendous.
01:42And not really acceptable when you look at the levels, it's just been badly managed.
01:47And I sympathise with the nurses, if I'm honest, and the NHS staff
01:51that have to put up with the frustration of other people that have to wait
01:55because they're the front line that get the frustration taken out on.
