00:42The incident occurred at Wusei Junction by the traffic lights, where assailants targeted
00:48a police checkpoint and descended heavily on policemen on duty.
00:54The attackers, who were armed with matches, improvised explosive devices, knives and
01:03other offensive weapons, embarked on several violent attacks, which left two police officers
01:11dead instantly and three unconscious, currently receiving treatment in hospital.
01:19Additionally, three police patrol vans were set ablaze during the attacks.
01:27In line with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Uluka Ode Adi Uluakbetu
01:32Kumpedi, NPM, FSPSP, the progressive efforts of police operatives have led to the arrests
01:42of 97 suspects and the recovery of several weapons used during the attack.
01:50The IGP has also reaffirmed the unalloyed zeal of the force to arrest other involved
01:56persons and bring the killers to justice, emphasizing his commitment to maintaining
02:03law and other unresisting all sorts of anarchy and unrest in any part of the country.
02:13The unprovoked killings of police officers in the line of duty are highly outrageous
02:20and unacceptable, as those who murdered these policemen have murdered peace.
02:29As investigations unfold, the Nigerian police force is determined to uncover the full extent
02:36of this attack and prevent future occurrences of such violence against police officers.
02:45The Inspector General of Police offers heartfelt sympathies to the grieving families of the
