The English Defence League's plan to intimidate defenseless people backfired in embarrassing fashion when a large number of peaceful protesters stood ready to prevent the rioters from succeeding.   &quot;EDL protesters were passing through, so the local people of Walthamstow came out in massive numbers and began protesting peacefully,&quot; the filmer, Tahir, told WooGlobe.
