Tennis - US Open 2024 - Diego Schwartzman played his last US Open : "This is very special and very emotional"

  • le mois dernier
Diego Schwartzman a disputé son dernier match à l'US Open lundi soir.

00:00Yeah, it was great. Many years. Time, you know, passed very, very quick. But I'm very
00:11happy how I did here and also how the crowd treat me, you know, all these years. And at
00:21the end, it was an end that I always dream, you know, on a big court against a big opponent
00:28like Gael, enjoying a few moments on the match, not every moment, because at the end I was
00:33struggling. But I think it was great. This journey here in the U.S. Open, it was every
00:42single moment great, and I really enjoyed it.
00:46Well, congratulations on a wonderful career here in New York.
00:49Questions in English first. Yes.
00:50Ed McGrogan, Tennis.com. Just looking back at that history, this was your most successful
00:56slam after Roland Garros, two quarterfinals, one of those, most recent was against Roth,
01:01I believe. And just what do you remember about maybe that match in particular, just kind
01:05of those really deep runs here?
01:08Yeah, I mean, I think U.S. Open 2017, it was the first time that I felt like I was a great
01:14player, you know, and I become top 30, I think, in 2017 for the very first time after beating
01:24Zilic and Puyll, losing in quarterfinals against Carreño Busta. And, you know, that
01:32part of the year was very special, and after that my tennis improved a lot, and always
01:37I felt great coming here. I had too many good matches, even losing matches, but feeling
01:43always great with the people here, not just in U.S. Open, you know, many different tournaments
01:49in U.S., not just with the American people, also with the Latin people that are living
01:54here. And, yeah, I think U.S. Open gave me a lot of victories, good ones, and a lot of
02:01confidence to my career, different moments.
02:06Howard Blass, Jerusalem Post.
02:08You had a very emotional moment at the end of the match in court, so I wonder if you
02:12could say what you're feeling and, you know, what you're feeling right now.
02:15Yeah, I think it's crazy how, you know, the people treat me like I said before, because,
02:20I don't know, I never dreamed with this kind of things, you know, playing in the U.S. Open
02:25in a big court, first round for the very last time, and, you know, having all the crowd
02:33there, tournament director, everyone there just giving me, thank you for coming, I don't
02:39know, it's crazy for me. Since I'm young, I never dreamed with this, so finish my career
02:46this way, for me it's very special and very emotional.
