00:09Shhh! Just a minute, Michael. I'm on the phone.

00:12Okay. I'll go tell Sarah.

00:15Hey, Sarah! Sarah!

00:17I'm right here, Mikey. What in the world is so exciting?

00:21The Christmas play. I get to be a shepherd in the Christmas play.

00:25Hmm. Just a shepherd, huh? Maybe next year you'll get an important part in the play.

00:30But...

00:31Listen, Michael. I need to study right now. Go tell Grandpa all about it.

00:35Not important? A shepherd is an important part of a Christmas story.

00:40Angels told shepherds about Jesus being born. That makes shepherds important, doesn't it?

00:46Hello there, Michael. Why are you talking to yourself?

00:50Hi, Grandpa. I was telling Sarah I got the part of a shepherd in the Christmas play.

00:54That's wonderful, Michael. The shepherds are an important part of the Christmas story.

01:00That's what I thought, but Sarah didn't think so. She said,

01:03Maybe next time you'll get an important part. But you said they were important, didn't you, Grandpa?

01:10Oh, yes. Shepherds were very important. Do you know why?

01:14Because angels came down and told them about Jesus.

01:17Yes, that's part of it. The angels didn't tell the richest men in town or the religious leaders or the king.

01:25Yeah, that's right. They didn't tell them.

01:28But there's something else that makes the shepherds important.

01:32What?

01:33Think about it. What did the shepherds do after the angels left?

01:38They went to find Jesus.

01:39Did they find him?

01:41Yes, they did. And they worshiped Jesus, too.

01:44Exactly. God wants people to worship his Son, Jesus.

01:49That's important, to worship God.

01:52And there's more. What did the shepherds do after they saw Jesus?

01:57Oh, I remember. They went out and told everyone about Jesus.

02:02Isn't that an important thing to do?

02:04Telling people about Jesus?

02:06Yes. If people don't know about Jesus, they won't be saved and go to heaven.

02:13So telling others about Jesus is really important.

02:16Really important.

02:18My friend Eric doesn't know Christmas is about Jesus. He thinks it's only about getting gifts.

02:24Maybe you can tell Eric the good news about Jesus.

02:28Just like the shepherds told the good news about Jesus.

02:31I'm going to tell my friends that Jesus is the reason for Christmas.

02:35I'm sorry I was busy on the phone, Michael. What was that exciting news you wanted to tell me?

02:40Mom, I got an important part in the Christmas play.

02:43I'm going to be a shepherd who tells everyone about Jesus.
