00:00First ball of the first T20 International.
00:18As we often see with Aqeel Hussain, he opens the bowling for the West Indies Bulls in the
00:22power play phase.
00:24Off the innings.
00:25There's the first wicket.
00:31Here's an impact ball of Matthew Ford, so skilful in swinging the ball and getting lateral
00:37movement.
00:38And he's done it once more.
00:40First wicket for the West Indies, that of Rickleton.
00:42Yeah, you talk about the young man being impressive, Ryan Rickleton, he won't be impressed with
00:47that shot.
00:48Of course, it was wide, it was worth an offer, but there's absolutely no stopping that young
00:53man.
00:54Ryan Rickleton goes for four, Seraphic of five for one.
01:01Backed away.
01:02That's a nice looking stroke from the captain, got a little bit of width, and he's so powerful
01:07square of the wicket on the back foot.
01:12First sweep comes out, executed quite well, playing with the turn.
01:20Goes with a faster pace delivery, but Markram is ready for it, and he takes a maximum to
01:28end the over 11 runs from it after three, 20 for one.
01:33Straight to the field in that mid-arm position, so the pressure of being proactive with this
01:40field placing working in favor of Matthew Ford and the West Indies.
01:45Second wicket done, and it's a biggie, that of the skipper.
01:49Push the second field into the leg side, almost expecting him to hit it leg side, Aiden Markram
01:55just sits in the surface, yeah, and that's an excellent catch.
02:00He's in business for a second time in this power play.
02:03Matthew Ford gets rid of the Seraphic, and the captain goes for 14, 23 for two now.
02:12And this will be a chance, a first wicket for Joseph in this series, in his very first
02:17delivery.
02:18Not the best of deliveries, but they'll take it, the West Indies have got three.
02:23It's becoming sort of a habit for Shamar Joseph, first ball in Test Match cricket, first ball
02:29in this series.
02:31Leading edge, and traveling all the way to deep third, absolutely no mistake from Hakeem
02:37Hussain.
02:38This has been a wondrous start for the West Indies.
02:42Another wicket goes, Hendricks for four, 23 for three.
02:48He's so good, Tristan Stubbs, slowly approaching one of the most innovative players in the
02:53world, for shots like that.
02:57Was there a feather on it?
02:59They're celebrating, and the finger is raised, Joseph again, golden arm.
03:04Remember, he took a wicked first ball of his first over, again, similar lined delivery,
03:13but this time, another feather through to Nicholas Uran.
03:17Wickets in abundance, Rassi Van Der Dusen goes for five, 33 for four.
03:27Really nicely timed, and that is his potential that he's shown at different stages of his
03:32short career so far.
03:37Back to the fielder, and that familiarity, Hussain gets Ferreira again.
03:45Ferreira trying to deliberately go over the fielder, over the infield, but not enough
03:50elevation, and the other left-hand orthodox, Gunakesh Moti, makes absolutely no mistake.
03:58Ferreira goes for eight, 42 for five.
04:04to see if he can get something moving, and it does go out towards the bigger side, and
04:09there is enough on it from Kruger, he still has a look at the bottom of the bat.
04:13That is a massive hit, that has cleared the 74-meter boundary by about 15 meters.
04:23What Chase is usually good at is bowling into the surface, even against his negative matchup.
04:31That's good, very good from Kruger, because now he's creating some doubt in the mind of
04:36Ross and Chase as to what to do next.
04:39Pumped, down to long on, and on to the roof, that's a massive hit from Tristan Stubbs,
04:49they're turning it on, Stacey-Ann King.
04:53You mentioned that partnership, it's only growing from here, confidence from both players.
05:04That's in the gap, precision from Kruger, and they will find an early boundary in the over.
05:14Pumped, in front of square, he was setting himself for yet another slow delivery, and
05:20he was ready for it on this occasion, so, edge, and there will be another boundary,
05:28which will mark the 50-partnership between these two, 53 to be exact.
05:36In the gap, doesn't stop it, Gudakesh Moti running around, brings up the 104 South Africa,
05:46not a boundary, that's over from Chema Joseph.
05:52Innovation from Tristan Stubbs, that's a shot we've seen from him very often,
05:58executed to perfection on this occasion.
06:03And he strikes again, brilliant from Matthew Ford, he's having an outstanding game.
06:11Yeah, you can hear it.
06:13Yeah, he can do absolutely no wrong, Matthew Ford into the attack,
06:18he's kept the needed wickets, and he has got the big man.
06:24It's the dangerous Patrick Kruger, he goes for 44, well-played innings,
06:31he's got his team back into this context, South Africa 1-1-3-4-6.
06:34Just a high-class shot from Tristan Stubbs,
06:44he soaked up some pressure while Kruger was going at the other end, it's his chance now to accelerate.
06:54That's hit the bat and hit the gap quite nicely, back-to-back fours.
07:04Misfield, and that's where Stubbs was aiming to give himself room to hit it
07:10through extra cover or over, that's not special feeling, should have been stopped.
07:19He's just such a good player, he's a wonderful player in the making,
07:25his second T20 international half century.
07:28Wow, how is that for a cricket shot, almost baseball style, bullied this down the ground.
07:38This time round, it is beyond for Jane.
07:46Six, and 17 off the over, Tristan Stubbs 59-149 for six.
07:59Oh no, and that sneaked over the boundary, Akeel Hussain, and that went to his strong hand,
08:07and another no ball, my goodness.
08:12Wow, that's four, it ricocheted off Romario Sheppard, and still enough power on it to get
08:22for four. Always a risk with the short fine leg in play, this is some exhibition of batting
08:33from Tristan Stubbs, 70 now from 40. Wow, that is some muscle, that has cleared that 74
08:48metre boundary, cleared the playing surface, and to think that Stubbs was 24 from 22.
08:58Yeah, if you're an orange army back home, it's a 20, we've seen him done this
09:02so often for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape.
09:08That'll be the end of him, but it has been a very impactful innings,
09:14and pace off from Romario Sheppard does the work, but what an innings and exhibition
09:21of batsmanship and power. Yeah, we have cried out for pace being taken off on this surface,
09:30and the first time he's resolved to it, he's got the big wicket. Take a bow ladies and gentlemen,
09:35Tristan Stubbs 76 of just 42 deliveries, South Africa now 173 for seven.
09:43Youngest double time for South Africa.
09:49Yeah, there's been some turnaround,
09:52a order that was dominated with that new ball, Rickleton fell, falling four to four,
09:59Hendricks Markram as well falling in that power play. Many ways three down in the power play,
10:04you'll have your back against the wall, but then Tristan Stubbs got together with Patrick Kruger
10:09to form that partnership that really took the momentum away from this West Indies bowling
10:14lineup. Yeah, Tristan Stubbs falling for 76, and equally important that innings of Patrick Kruger
10:2434-32 deliveries. Just the modern T20 game, there's a little bit of an absorption of pressure,
10:30not much, just a few deliveries, and then guys just keep playing positively. So Ford was
10:34outstanding though, his name is up in lights with three for 27 wickets up front and a key wicket
10:40at the back end of Kruger. Shemar Joseph had a couple of wickets in his first two overs,
10:47one for Akeel Hussain, whose figures also look pretty good, and the Shepherd one for 39 from
10:54three. West Indies need 175 at a required rate of just under nine and over when their turn comes
11:02to back to try to win. This time plays the conventional one and it's a maximum
11:20into the smaller boundary as well.
11:25That is extremely good from Shea Hope, top class.
11:34Looks very pleasing when he's on the front foot driving the ball,
11:39full face of the bat, they'll often say when you see a stroke like this.
11:43Well-controlled shot from Shea Hope, understanding where backwards fair was,
11:48able to find a boundary. West Indies growing in confidence, 34 for none.
11:56Hit well enough, even into the big side of the ground, I don't think it came off from
12:01that indication, they are the absolute middle of the bat, but it's travelled for six.
12:07Yeah, short length delivery and into the leg side.
12:14Really good positioning from Artanis, 74 meter six.
12:20Nice, he got the width and the deep third had actually gone wider as opposed to being an
12:28orthodox deep third position, smart from Shea Hope.
12:37Very good from Alec Artanis again.
12:46The 50 comes up for the West Indies, they are enjoying this little phase.
12:52Yeah, this is incredible ball striking from Artanis, he isn't trying to force the issue
12:57too much, just sitting back and dispatching these deliveries.
13:03And Artanis sweeps himself to another boundary.
13:11Yes, and it's proving expensive here as well, nice lovely ball striking from Shea Hope.
13:21Again, just knowing where those fielders are placed.
13:24It goes high, it goes hard, it goes for maximum.
13:35Oh, a little blooper, that should have been stopped.
13:44That looks as though it has distance on it, this has been a magnificent power play, 75
13:51without loss.
13:57Brilliant once again from Shea Hope, didn't even have a look to see where that ball was going
14:03because the connection was on point.
14:1089 meter six.
14:12Yep, not a strong down that area you see, that's good, good length and the opening partnership
14:18is finally broken by O'Neill Bartman.
14:22We spoke earlier about his scoring areas and this wasn't one of them, hitting down the
14:28track, didn't quite get the elevation he wanted.
14:34And an easy catch for Aidan Markram, the West Indies lose their first, Alec Artanis
14:40goes for a very well played 40, it's 84 for one.
14:47Catch it, over long off and that is the sheer power of Nicholas Furan and he doesn't miss
14:53out on his matchup.
14:58And that is glorious, middle up, easy pickings for Nicholas Furan.
15:02It's a slow ball, he's picked it early, he's had a beautiful swing of the blade once more.
15:14Attempted pace off, he has crunched that, back to back sixes, pressure on.
15:24This is majestic T20 batting from the best in the world, three sixes in the over.
15:33We know he possesses the power hitting ability, in this occasion that's in the slot.
15:39And Nicholas Furan said I'll have some of you Nandre Berger, the quicker you come,
15:43the quicker you'll go.
15:49Goes again, four sixes, Nicholas Furan world class, 134 on.
15:57You can see Nandre Berger trying to go for the Yorker,
16:01misses his length and that is something you can't afford to do against a player of the class
16:07of Nicholas Furan.
16:11On target he is, has that not slipped down the leg side, Gregory Brathwaite says no,
16:16he's happy but the review has happened straight away.
16:20Here comes ball tracking, original decision out, pitching in line, impact in line,
16:27wickets umpire's call, I'm ready to go back on field to Greg.
16:32Greg you can stay with your out decision, you're on screen, signal now.
16:36Decision upheld by the umpire, that would mean the end of Shea Hope,
16:42having just registered a half century, he has to make his way back to the pavilion.
16:48138 for two.
16:52Runs, continuing with the shorter length is Mpaka, but straying a little bit leg side.
17:03Onto it so quickly, he picks up the length early and it sails over the boundary row.
17:11Wonderful batting from Nicholas Furan, takes him to a half century, six sixes in the innings.
17:18It was very, very full, can't quite get under it but he can place it well enough.
17:28But he generates so much power with those quick hands, that has cracked off the bat.
17:38He's got a wicket, first international wicket for Quayne Mpaka and he's ice cool.
17:48Yeah absolutely brilliant for the young man, he's not giving up the fight, he's hung in there and
17:54that is what it means to the young man, he's on the board Quayne Mpaka. He gets rid of the captain,
18:01Powell goes for seven, the West Indies 172 for P. And that should be the winning touch.
18:10Hope the bats of Ruston Chase, but Nicholas Furan will take many or much of the plaudits.
18:19But don't forget how Matthew Ford and company set this up with the ball after a wonderful
18:25recovery by that guy Stubbs. He on 14 and Kruger, but the West Indies achieved their highest
18:35successful run chase in the Caribbean for seven years. Their second highest in the Caribbean
18:41overall. A win here by seven wickets in Taruba in South Trinidad of the Brian Lowry Cricket Academy.
