00:00I'm waking up to ash and dust, I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust.
00:10That's impressive.
00:11You gonna pass out?
00:12It feels like you're in the right place, it just feels like you've got to kind of tighten
00:17up.
00:18We were really hesitant in the early years of the band to sign to a label.
00:21We knew we had developing to do on our own, we knew that we had more people that we could
00:26reach on our own.
00:27One day we got an email from Alex Da Kid.
00:32I think I get what you're going for, try holding on Broken a little bit longer.
00:37Alex Da Kid, he is a Grammy winning, unbelievable producer.
00:40The band knew his work with Eminem, Rihanna.
00:43He had a friend I guess who played him an Imagine Dragons EP in the car, and he loved
00:48the music.
00:49There's no more syllables than left to see, right?
00:50I've been lucky enough to be around some really iconic people, and I see some of the same
00:55things that I see in other people in Imagine Dragons.
00:58Cool.
00:59Yeah, it's still good.
01:01I got my manager to reach out to their manager, and we got them in the studio, and we just
01:06had instant chemistry.
01:08When Alex says cool, that means it's good, you know, keep working on it.
01:13When he says something's dope, he knows you're good.
01:16No, I like it, it's close to dope.
01:21Some people you go in with, you just have chemistry or you don't, it's very apparent.
01:26We just had instant chemistry, they wrote a song the first day they came in.
01:29That collaboration really was explosive in a lot of ways between the band's kind of huge
01:34anthemic indie rock thing, and Alex Da Kid kind of bringing this hip hop vibe.
01:39I really thought, wow, we're doing something pretty awesome here.
01:42He kind of just brought up that he was a fan of the band, he'd been listening to it, and
01:47what would we think about signing?
01:49He didn't want to change anything about the band, he just wanted to bring to the table
01:53his own experience and resources to be able to help us do it on a bigger level.
01:58Another high one on the second half.
02:02That just builds on it.
02:04If we can execute correctly as a label, and get people to be aware of Imagine Dragons,
02:09I think the potential is limitless, we can really go far with the band.
02:17I love the fact that they are so involved in the creative process.
02:21I might give them direction, or I might add some stuff to it.
02:24It's just, we get in the studio and we just kind of create, there's no real rules, which
02:27is great, because, you know, I really like the stuff that comes out of it.
