00:04moving forward. The actress recently spoke with Entertainment Tonight after it was announced that
00:11the Drew Barrymore show scored a season 6 renewal ahead of its September 9 return.
00:16In the interview, she explained why she finds herself getting physically up close and personal
00:21when interacting with her guests.
00:23Well, I'll try to practice physical distance, which is not my strong point.
00:26Do you know how hard the COVID-19 pandemic was for me? I was alone in a studio by myself.
00:32I like to be around people.
00:33Barrymore has been known to get physically close with guests that she interviews on her show,
00:38but some viewers have noted online that certain guests don't seem all that thrilled to have the
00:42host so up close and personal. The Charlie's Angels actress acknowledged that it's, quote,
00:47not everyone's favorite part of her interviews, to which she's, quote,
00:50sorry to those people. However, she explained that she's always aiming to bring joy and
00:54laughter to her guests and viewers.
00:56I think that first of all, we're always going to be big on joy and laughter and feeling good,
01:01and that was something I always wanted to do. But I never thought we would launch in a pandemic,
01:05and trying to lean into the joy and the feel-good and the comedy at that time
01:09was really weird and wacky.
01:11The renewal will take the Drew Barrymore show through the 2025-2026 season.
