00:00I don't think that anybody deserves the kind of backlash that I have received.
00:29And I know that I've grown through everything. I've bounced back from all
00:34these challenges and obstacles and it has just really proved the strength and
00:38the courage and the resilience that I have.
00:48She is South African as well as she is Nigerian. I am Nigerian-Canadian.
00:54The Canadians would never discriminate against me if I wanted to compete for Miss
00:58Universe Canada because I'm Nigerian. Because they understand that we're all multicultural.
01:08Bringing her on board pretty much indicates that we're a unified nation.
01:12The continent of Africa, the black continent, should be unified.
01:16We shouldn't fight amongst ourselves as being one person from a
01:22different country. There's enough racism around the world.
01:25Hello everyone, my name is Chidima Vanessa Onwearechina and I am representing Tarawa State.
01:31My story is a very powerful story and it can be very impactful
01:40because this is a lot of people that are not accepted, a lot of people that are
01:44still fighting for their identity and I just feel like in order for us to move
01:48better and have a better future we need to stand together as one.
