Iron Man 4: Everything we know about the film
11 years after the hero's last solo film, Iron Man 4 remains a dream among Marvel fans.
Iron Man 4 is an iconic Marvel Studios film that continues to be among fans' thoughts and research. After all, not even the epic ending of Avengers: Endgame seemed to close the door on this opportunity.
Even more so when we remember that Iron Man 3 was a good ending to the trilogy, but it fell short of fully exploiting the potential of Tony Stark's stories.
When everything seemed ready for a triumphant Iron Man 4, instead we saw the END of the trilogy and the focus on Tony Stark's appearances in other MCU projects.
Which wasn't a problem, since he appeared in 5 other films after the end of his trilogy. Therefore, the Captain America, Spider-Man and Avengers films all touched on some plots that we could have seen in this possible Iron Man 4.
But why didn't we see it?
Both Robert Downey Jr. and Kevin Feige never gave a real, definitive explanation as to why the fourth solo film never happened. We know that, narratively, this fit in with the MCU's grand plans.
Since the Infinity Saga was at the height of its development and both the Gems and other heroes deserved more screen time. As a bonus, Marvel saved a few million on the contract but kept RDJ as a luxury mega-supporting character.
At the time of Captain America: Civil War, Downey even said that he considered the film an “Iron Man 4”. Remember:
“I don’t think it’s foreseen (about the fourth film). In a way it's Captain 3, but for me it's like my little Iron Man 4.”
And he's not wrong to say that! Since we all agree that one of the great successes of the 2016 film was perfectly balancing the protagonism between Tony and Steve, even though it was a film titled Captain.
Iron Man 4 with Rhodes and Morgan Stark?
Endgame introduced an interesting path to continue Tony's legacy, with the arrival of his daughter Morgan. Although nothing points to the appearance of a teenage Morgan Stark, the doors are always open for it.
Especially with the confirmation of the film that it could be a kind of fourth Iron Man. We are talking about the eternally delayed Armor Wars or Armor Wars in the original title.
Announced as a series in 2020, the project was turned into a film 2 years later. However, Rhodes' debut as a protagonist in the MCU continues without any premiere date.
The film was described as follows:
“Armor Wars will see Tony Stark's biggest nightmare come true: What if his technology fell into the wrong hands?”
