Analyzing NFL Running Backs: Jones, Connor & Benson

00:00You got Aaron Jones on one side and you have James Conner on the other and according to
00:06James Conner's people and his agent, he will not attend this conversation without having
00:10Benson sitting exactly right next to him.
00:13So let's have the conversation because I don't, Conner's going to be in that backfield week
00:16six.
00:17You tell me.
00:18You know, I mean, that's not like Aaron Jones was the pinnacle of being on the field.
00:27He only played 11 games last year.
00:29So I guess, you know, the meta answer is what wide receivers on the board, is there a wide
00:34receiver on the board?
00:37And this is why I think it's very important to, to map out what you're looking for, because
00:40this is a whole grouping in a row, right in the same ADP that we're talking about here.
00:45We've got Aaron Jones, James Conner, David Montgomery, Romandre Stevenson, literally
00:50in a row in ADP.
00:52I don't think it matters.
00:53I think each one of them comes with risk.
00:54I think each one of them comes with some upside, Romandre Stevenson, the younger guy
00:59in that grouping that I think is probably the way you'd want to go.
01:02Always go with the younger guy when it comes to running back.
01:04David Montgomery in the best offense, arguably of the three.
01:08I think the difficulty now with Aaron Jones is whenever you see guys that get jettisoned
01:12and end up somewhere else, I'm looking at you, Joe Mixon.
01:15I'm looking at you.
01:16A lot of those players, Derek Henry is the exception to the rule.
01:19They typically, things don't go well for them.
01:21So I like to kind of fade those scenarios.
01:24Now that Sam Darnold's quarterback, I just don't know how well the chains are going to
01:27move in that offense.
01:28And that's a problem.
01:29And they have to rely more heavily on Aaron Jones.
01:31And that might also be a problem at this stage in his career.
01:33He to me tracks more like that running back that, you know, you're in the league for five
01:38years and that's about what your lifespan is in the NFL for running back like Aaron
01:42Jones, who has consistently outperformed and consistently been a surprising RB one time
01:47and time again.
01:48I just don't know if he could do it this year.
01:50So I have to pick between those two.
01:51I'm going to lean with Connor, which is probably surprising.
01:54But the reason I lean with Connor is because it's very easy.
01:57It's one of the few scenarios too, where I really like the backup.
01:59And if I'm a little bit more aggressive and I get the handcuff of Trey Benson, it's one
02:03of the few handcuffs for the same running back on the same team that I actually do like,
02:07because I am confident if Connor goes down, not only would Trey Benson be the three down
02:12back, he would be very good at it.
02:14And I think that is the difference maker between those two.
02:17So you have to have an insurance policy.
02:19The Aaron Jones insurance policy to me does not look nearly as good as the Trey Benson
02:22one in Arizona.
