00:00You got into some great positions didn't you? It won't go down as shots on the stats but there were really good openings in the second half. Did you feel you could kill the game?
00:07We would have liked to, yeah, and that's the difference. It's like the quality of chance, isn't it?
00:12That's why stats don't always reflect everything, you know.
00:17Stats in context are really powerful and really good, whether you want to coach, whether you want to sign players, whether you want to tell the story of a game.
00:25It was important, especially with Lund stepping onto us and going man for man, that we did get the opportunities we needed to exploit that space and we did.
00:32I think a little bit better detail on the pass and it's, as you say, it's not going down as a shot but a little bit better detail on the pass and it's a goal.
00:41No XG is reflected in what you're talking about but if that pass gets there it's probably a really high XG for one chance.
00:48That's what we want to do, we want to try and create good chances.
00:51I think you mentioned making as few changes as possible to have the biggest impact. Was it off the ball massive today?
00:57Yeah, so literally you only get the message across about what's not going to change, what are we going to stand for?
01:04The message before the game was today's us, today is the start of a new team and what type of team we're going to be.
01:10Ask the players to be brave and take the ball.
01:12As the game got tougher and harder, you do go in your shell a little bit natural and I expected it.
01:19But before that, no, we're taking the ball, we're trying to pass it and to create those chances, which was good.
01:24And then without the ball, yes, a given. We want it to be compact.
01:27I've always enjoyed the teams that I've coached manage to be really aggressive without the ball.
01:35Some of our best opportunities in the first half were from high regains.
01:38I'd love us to be right up there statistically in terms of chances from regains in the opposition's half.
01:45It's a great way, a really easy way, it's not easy because it's hard work to get there,
01:50but you're not having to bypass players once you regain the ball high end.
01:55I just like the mentality of it and the noise and atmosphere that it brings.
