04:14You got to remember last weekend as his teammate rookie teammates trying to get up on the inside last weekend
04:20He was sick and he was still able to win that second moto
04:22So I'm sure he's feeling better, but he didn't like those two passes after making all those passes
04:27Yeah, and Adams at the back of the shot as you mentioned is right with him the young rider out of Tennessee
04:33Well so far so good for rocks and he's right here in the fight
04:37Yeah, Kenny looks pretty good. And I think this is gonna help him as he lose the rear end. I was close right there

04:48They've added water which will help throughout the day
04:50But these early laps right there on the jump faces are so tricky and they're also trying to push but I was also just thinking
04:56About the battle look at this
04:57You've got Ken rocks and dropping down to the 250 class at the first time in 11 years
05:00You've got Levi kitchen who is in his 250 prime winning three out of the four last races
05:05And then you've got 16 year old drew Adams, but probably looks up to both of these guys wondering how he got here
05:10So it's a very unique situation. I can't wait to watch it unfold. Yeah, what story lines of plot lines we have crossing
05:18Rocks in a kitchen battling again, just like they do back home. They ride at the same track in Florida sandbox
05:25Jordan Smith, they'll hang it tough all this battling and he's still there in front of him in the 31
05:29Yes, it's first time this year. We've seen Jordan Smith up front
05:33In there in the first moto, so he's always had speed at one point
05:37He was leading that supercross championship up against Levi
05:41And then so for him and on top of that you also got a two-time world champion out front in Tom VL
05:47So the talent field is there
05:49That's how deep this 250 class is and Jordan started this motocross campaign saying the goal was a podium
05:55He's never had an overall podium in motocross
05:57Maybe today the final day of the year is the time to get that done and look
06:02It's actually closed back up a bit on Hymas. Yeah, I was looking up
06:05It looked like Tom made a mistake and allowed chance to come up
06:08And so yeah things are gonna tighten up and you know this thing ain't gonna stay this way for this moto
06:13Hymas on the inside James showing a wheel to be out. Yeah that outside it Tom knew
06:19He had all the better momentum that inside with that rut
06:22He knew he he wasn't gonna get past but yeah
06:25Chance is starting to put the pressure on and Tom Tom just needs to calm down
06:29It's a long race. So he's got plenty of time to do it
06:33The one thing today the lap times are a little bit longer
06:35So these guys aren't gonna have as many laps as they're probably used to so
06:40This race would be over pretty quickly
06:42So same amount of time on the clock, but it'll actually feel shorter
06:46It'll feel a lot shorter for these guys and one lap
06:49Could make a huge difference and depending on where you hit it this race can be anywhere from 33 to 37 minutes
06:55So yeah, I think these guys are going to be a lot more
06:58Racy today because of that lap time being a little bit longer. It's gonna feel shorter for
07:05Here's what's interesting about BL he has led seven motos this year
07:09He only has two moto wins and as you alluded to he's crashed while leading several times
07:15That's part of the reason the number reads that way
07:18Not what you really expect from one of the more experienced riders in this field send it back down to JT
07:23Well, remember for Tom VL
07:25He was the East Coast 250 Monster Energy Supercross champion and everybody expected him to carry that momentum into this pro motocross championship
07:32He's a two-time mx2 world champion, and this should be the series where he shines
07:37But I think the most important thing for Tom is to get momentum back get back on track
07:42Find those winning ways because in two weeks time this series will shift into SMX and he'll have another
07:48Opportunity to win a second championship in 2024
07:51So I'm sure he understands that this was a little bit of an underwhelming summer for him. The opportunity ahead is paramount
07:59Yeah, I completely agree and I think with Tom what he also needs to realize he's been riding really good even better than he did
08:05Last year and I would say he's probably riding better than he did even in Supercross when he won that title
08:10Just unfortunately as you just mentioned Jason those those stats about him leading motos, but only having two wins
08:16It's the mistakes that's cost them not necessarily his speed and his riding
08:22Yes last week
08:24Tom saying he's pretty pissed off about the fact that he doesn't have an overall win at least not yet
08:29And this is his opportunity to deliver one
08:32So he's stabilized that gap with Hymus just a little bit

08:40Todd Masterpool, so he's closing in on Jordan Smith and it was that a RJ Hampshire sighting

08:55And he's looking to make the move on Adams see if he can make it stick around this tree turn

09:26So keep an eye on RJ Hampshire here with this battle, especially as it might be wearing him out after that injury
09:31Well the way RJ rides he's definitely in shape because he is very loose on a motorcycle
09:36I think for him like he's to mention he does have the speed. He looks like RJ
09:40So clearly he's back to as far as the injury wise feeling 100%
09:44But he definitely has to get that race pace going and be more continue being like RJ is
09:49Yeah, and he told me due to the rain in Florida this week. He was only able to ride once
09:53So he really needs seat time hasn't been able to get it now another challenger
09:59That Ryder D Francesco moving up. Yeah, and he made the pass I RJ went outside
10:03I don't think he realized that Ryder D was that close and he was able to get around nice move by him
10:09Talked to Ryder D this morning. It's actually the fourth time
10:11He's racist track once at combine that last two years and now so it's actually the track
10:16He's most familiar with as a pro national showing right now on the 34th
10:21Yeah, I should think for a lot of these rookies in here
10:24They had an opportunity to race this like you said on the moto combine or
10:27Last year, they came in and raced it into the motocross series
10:31So a lot of these guys are this is the second time second or third time being familiar with this racetrack
10:35As we're watching Tom master pool trying to get up on the back of Jordan Smith
10:39Yeah, that will be for third been a while since we've seen master pool in the podium mix
10:44He had three motos in a row where he had a great start and then crashed
10:48And then had to basically come from last so now he's up there look at Ken roxon
10:54If you know the Ken roxon ain't going nowhere. I'm sure he's having fun
10:58I mean, it's a great opportunity to be coming out here racing against these kids the first time
11:02He's probably ever raced most of these guys
11:05But also no pressure having a good time as he tried to go up the inside of tie. Oh
11:10Kenny he set that up way in advance and
11:14Able to make the move experience, baby. Yeah
11:18Great move by Kenny and he knew once he got to the inside top tie didn't have no choice
11:23And that was a nice move you see he's got slipping going off the face of that jump
11:27Oh, yeah, that almost bit Kenny on lap one now tie trying to come back on him stuff. Who's your hole?
11:34This battle for fourth behind Smith
11:37Now the one thing with Kenny he's going to have to figure out as his moto riding the 250 as you can see these guys
11:44Are pretty wide open
11:46From the start, so it's a lot different in the 450s
11:49So he's got to pay attention to how to physical how he is JT
11:52Yeah
11:53Just watching Kenny's line choice here
11:54You can tell he's been racing a 450 for a very long time because his natural
11:58Instinct is to float to the inside line and that doesn't always work on a 250 now
12:02He's been making changes as we go
12:04He used that outside leading up to the finish line
12:06You see him swing outside here to carry momentum
12:08But I can just see that instinct show through sometimes when it was behind time masterful
12:13He wants to use that inside line that would typically be reminiscent of a 450 class maneuver
12:18So it's a learning experience, right? It's some of it will come back naturally, but some of it
12:22He's gonna be fighting 11 years of 450 racing as well. Yeah, that's a great observation
12:27JT and yeah, it's like anything you got to work on your golf swing and you go out on the range or the course and
12:34You just shank it off the first box
12:35So you do a lot of range work
12:37But when you get out there on that track is a lot different Kenny's experience in that but good to see Jordan Smith up here
12:43Like now that he's he's following these guys seems like they chance broke away from him just a little bit
12:48But still he's only four seconds back of the lead and I'm sure this is a good confidence builder for a guy like Jordan
12:54Because he does have the speed. Yep, one of the veterans for this monster

13:01But they've got a new rider in the wings race the scouting moto combine and one yesterday Cole Davies
13:07And Katie has caught up with Cole. Yeah, he went to one and as he's watching Jordan Smith here
13:11We're talking about you know
13:13How well Jordan seems to be doing how important is it having guys like Jordan and Deegan in the team that you get a chance?
13:19To look up to yeah, it's definitely important being able to you know race with them at the practice track and all that and
13:26Yeah, Jordan's doing real well right now he got off to a good start and yeah, he's looking good
13:30Talk about being on this team the camaraderie the chemistry and really maybe how these guys are moving the needle for you
13:37Yeah, I mean, it's definitely cool being on this team. You know Deegan got the championship and
13:45yeah, it's good being on the championship team, I guess and
13:49Yeah, I'm just stoked to be on the team
13:51I'd say that's one very happy man, especially winning the combine look at it kind of maybe the future guys
13:56But what he and what kind of battles he might be having here sooner than later
14:00Yeah, absolutely. And and for him as you mentioned, he's riding with these guys the guy who won the championship during the week. So
14:07It's a great learning experience and I'm good. It's good to build a watch that if you're a teammate JT
14:13Yeah, and literally every week it's trial by fire, right? He's gonna be the youngest one
14:17He's gonna be the least experience when all the time and that just results in a lot of frustration because you're probably gonna be the
14:24Slowest one every single day throughout the week
14:26But guess what when you show up to an event like the combine and you're not racing against a vegan or Jordan Smith or Jackson
14:33Bennett you're on that you're gonna be the fastest guy
14:36so in the end
14:37it's the best thing for you, but it's a lot of hard days during the week being up against that day in and day out and
14:44And speaking of Deegan, we've got him now he's getting close to the point scoring positions actually he's now into it he's 17th
14:51Catching Dylan Schwartz and his teammate Max Anstey. Yeah, Hayden's got a good pace. Actually the last lap
14:57He was the fastest rider on the racetrack with a 215 and our leader Tom
15:01Beow was a 216 so hey Deegan even coming up to the pack. He is your fastest rider, but he's got all these guys
15:09That he's probably gonna slow him down, but I'm sure he he wants to be up front
15:13But I'm sure he's having a good time probably happy that that championships wrapped up now
15:18Certainly no pressure. There's Schwartz
15:22And yellow being challenged by Anstey right now Anstey last week hit his head in a first turn crash didn't have a concussion
15:28But they said they wanted him to wait an hour and a half after the first photo to make sure he didn't have any effects
15:34And he said well an hour and a half that means that photos gonna start without me
15:38But he's not really in the title fight. He started this championship halfway through so
15:42That didn't bother him too much. He's able to ride this week. So Anstey's back
15:46Sounds like my dad back in the day when I crashed so it just put some water drink some water
15:51You'll be alright. Okay a little bit of time. Yeah, he felt fine
15:54He said but couldn't race the second moto doctors want to be cautious
15:58They see a rider go down and hit his head, but he's got some competition now
16:04Another Yamaha rider in that fight as well
16:08Pointed out the Deegan lap time of that 215. Oh, it's Romano. That's the one that's in the mix with them
16:14Halfway through this moto reminder that monster energy is available now at Kroger
16:20They're gonna sell out though with all these monster riders. They were storming the gates their information
16:25Yeah, we don't know who's a nice pass by Hayden. I don't know if Nick went down. Are you just going the wrong way, but

16:34And one of the many benefits of blocking the championship up at Butch Creek is he doesn't have to worry about how this moto
16:40Goes and it's a really difficult thing. You see him fall over there to ruin my point
16:44But again, if this had been championship mode and he would still be worried about points
16:48The urgency level would be cranked up to an 11. He would be so stressed out thinking about every single point
16:54He's gonna lose now. It's not something you would ever be able to notice
16:57Maybe even on a heart rate level, but his stress level so much lower. That's okay
17:01If I get 11, no big deal if I get 14, that's okay, too. The championship is already secure
17:16Next couple weeks
17:18Someone's confidence starting to grow the 47 of kitchen beginning to rally back toward his buddy
17:24Bronson and master pull right between them. So kitchen passed those two
17:28They passed the back pulled away and now kitchen is starting to rally

17:32we saw that the first moto last weekend the same thing like he was coming up and then had that mid moto stretch where
17:38it looked like he was
17:40Almost gonna pull off the racetrack and then end up almost being the fastest guy catching those guys and ended up with the third place
17:46So yeah, I don't know if there's something going on still with that sickness or maybe he's just waiting but Levi kitchens back open, baby
17:54He said if Roxan beats him, he'll never live it down. So he's got to get going Roxan just up the road
18:00Smith still third Hymus five seconds behind BL now BL getting it done
18:06Yeah, Tom has clicked into another gear. It seems like once he got past those first couple of laps settled in
18:12He just wrote like he's been riding all year
18:14He's which has been pretty fast
18:16So good to see that
18:17And I'm surprised because chance Hymus has been the quickest one one of the quickest riders on the track
18:22Any given lap the last few weekends, but Tom's running away from him
18:30And there's kitchen closed in the gap and masterful keeping rocks and honest where is Smith
18:37Smith I believe might be ahead of Hymus now

18:42Yeah, Jordan Smith up the second
18:45Now you got to believe what Jordan as he hasn't been up front
18:48But it's good confidence booster because when you having some issues and being in a mid pack like Jordan once you're up here
18:54You're you don't know how fast you are because you haven't been up in this pace and you start disbelieving that you're tenth place guy
19:00So as Jordan kept staying up here and he was still in third running third
19:05I'm sure he got more confident more confidence to be able to come up and pass
19:09Chance because now he's like I can see it. I believe it and these guys aren't pulling away as Ty goes up

19:20Think it was a bad lap a 219 for Hymus
19:23So he must have made a mistake or maybe tipped over and that's what allowed Smith here in the 31 to overhaul him
19:29Yeah, I don't know what it is about this track. I haven't put my finger on it, but it does seem like guys are
19:34They make a mistake. They lose a lot of time on this racetrack
19:37It as we saw Levi Levi was right on those guys the last lap right here and he's dropped back
19:43So might be a mistake and the same thing seems like it's happening with these guys
19:47Yeah, Jordan made a couple right there
19:52Veteran out of Belmont, North Carolina, but he's lived in that
19:56Florida Georgia state line area for a long long time
20:00The mill stops training facility road there growing up and then right up the road where he rides now
20:05With star racing in their facility Ricky Carmichael's old track. Look at master pool in green putting pressure on
20:12Hymus and they got a lot broader in between

20:15This is one of the things that I feel like chance has to work on and any will as he you know continues racing once
20:21Things started going the wrong way. He gets past just what Levi was able to do last weekend
20:26Sometimes you get past and it seems like it's over
20:28You got to be able to fight back and Levi did that last weekend a chance
20:32We're gonna have to do it because we just saw the number 31 get around them and then now time master pool
20:37And then we're watching chase Sexton in the bottom getting ready for his championship Katie
20:44Yeah, as we watch chase Sexton warming up here. I just talked to his team
20:47They didn't do much with that bike between qualifying and now it changed that rear tire for the paddles
20:52I have some hard pack, but they said he's mellow. He's in his head. He's mellow. He's cool. In fact
20:57His mechanic Kyle said it's me. I'm the one who's a little hyped up right now
21:02So, you know, obviously the nerves all around it
21:04It matches and meets so many people underneath this KTM umbrella
21:07I did talk continue to talk to the team and they said don't change anything Aaron Plessinger
21:11He said I told chase don't change your sleep. Don't change your diet. Don't change anything heading into this week and just get the job
21:17done
21:18Yeah, it's easy for us rotters because we're really in control of our own destiny out there chase
21:22He knows his motorcycle is good so he can go out there do it his mechanic now
21:26He doesn't want to be the reason he needs to help his router bill to go out there and do it
21:30So that's probably why he's a little bit more nervous than chases. Chase knows he can do his job
21:34Well, and remember the 450 to race at the top of the next hour
21:38Sexton might be able to wrap up the title in the first moto depending on the result battling hunter Lawrence
21:45Master pole still rolling now James catching second place Jordan Smith. Yeah, these I mean all these guys got a good pace
21:51There's just not as good as Tom

21:54But also that last lap time master pool was the fastest guy on the track then it was Tom be out and then Hayden Deegan

22:01Looks like ties on the move
22:03I don't know if you'll be able to catch that number 16, but you might be able to get Jordan if he continues this pace

22:21Remember a moto cross of the two moto format you get second or even third in that first moto
22:25You're in play for the overall win. So that's what these guys are fighting. So hard send it back to JT
22:31Yeah, and you see these guys are battling a little bit of a yo-yo master pull drop back
22:34I move back forward now for chance Hymus in that situation when it loses two spots in one lap
22:39He really loses his flow and his rhythm that James speaks
22:43We about and what I would try to do in that situation
22:45Is just do what the rider in front of me is doing and take the thought out of the equation for a little bit
22:51And I would just follow their line. Whatever they're doing seems to be working
22:54So instead of trying to figure out the race on your own
22:56I would just walk into the guy in front of me
22:58Follow them around the racetrack until I got my breathing my composure my rhythm back and then maybe try to charge back forward
23:04Yeah, absolutely JT and we saw chance was able to do that at Unadilla a few weeks ago
23:10You know those guys he was able to come past them and then there was a point at race in the beginning where the gap
23:16Stabilized and it looked like Levi was starting to close in but then he regrouped and was able to get away and then obviously to
23:21Crash so chance knows how to do it. Maybe he's feeling it. Maybe arm pump
23:25He's doing a good job at holding Ken off. But yeah, you don't want to let these mistakes
23:31These guys continue to pass him as Ty trying to go up the inside of Jordan
23:34He tried to go from outside the inside there to the bike just pop out
23:38I think he made right now. I think he made a mistake. Okay, it turned that mistake into the line. So
23:43Way to brush it off. Yeah
23:46Now the split section and that's where the old first turn was and they're gonna go into the woods now
23:52and it's JT said this is a
23:56Homage to the cross country series. That's really what put this track on the map
24:00They've had a race in the woods for about 30 years now
24:03Then ten years ago built the motocross track and we've had the national here that area a little bit of a blend
24:09Hold on to that Jordan Smith. Yeah before that Jordan had a nice line using that
24:14That little hip jump on the inside jumping across those ruts made it a lot smoother. So that was good line
24:19Then he got cross right it
24:23So and that inside did not work for masterful so Jordan pulling away just for the moment

24:30It's kind of like we're seeing a little bit of a different rider within Jordan Smith
24:33He's had one fifth place finish this season and the overalls but beyond that he's he's finished between
24:3817th and 16th throughout the entire season. So Stu as you're kind of watching him here
24:44What what is he doing a little bit different doesn't have anything to do with the team and Deegan successes
24:49Or is it just something that Jordan is bringing to the table a little later in the game?
24:53I know I think Jordan's probably riding the way he's has when he's back in 15 17
24:58He just got a better start and as I was saying
25:02These guys even just getting the top 15 if you're riding in 15th in this class
25:07You're riding really good and Jordan is figuring that out and you know, he's always had to pay so for him being up front
25:12I think each lap that's went by and those guys weren't pulling away from him gave him a lot more confidence
25:17Which is allowing him to ride even better
25:19So yeah, I think just really to start and now believing that you've alone up here is helping Jordan out the most
25:26Well, it's been a long time coming Jordan Smith's last moto podium was
25:312018 at Washougal and that was actually the last season that he's gotten the full
25:37Promoto cross schedule in without getting hurt. So Smith doing good work late in the year another battle on our hands Oh
25:44Kitchen is slipped by Roxton. Yeah, as I was mentioned earlier in the show
25:49Ken needed to be careful because you know one rod in his 250 and how these guys ride
25:54You're always on the power. You got to be a lot more aggressive, which is a lot more energy
25:58I was wondering when he start feeling that at the end of the motos because it is such a difference on these 250 bikes
26:04Compared to riding a 450 which you have the luxury of being able to go inside as JT mentioned and be able to gas it
26:10This bike you have to keep that power up. You have to shift and sometimes you might be starting to feel that
26:16250 and how these guys ride this motorcycle
26:19The Thor running order you saw there are some of the riders in this field Deacon has made his way up to 11
26:24Smith we're in the Thor gear is second as mentioned and Steve 13

28:24Well, he'll like me won't bother with it. You know, we're as gentle be like, oh, it's fun
28:28You know, it's a hunters more of an analytical like pulls apart goes, you know what?
28:31I'm not gonna risk the biscuit for that amount of effort or risk, you know
28:35So yeah, he's more calculated and being calculated very important on the bike that he's also learning trying to understand
28:41Where are some of those changes happening within the bike?
28:43What are some of the changes just trying to get the bike into a good base point?
28:46So once at Butts Creek like the bike was pretty good, but we might have been a little bit closed on our clickers
28:51So you want to get a setting change to get the clickers back into that sweet spot?
28:55So then you have more of a a central base that you have room to move
28:59So that's sometimes you're trying to plan for the future. So the different tracks where you go you go. Oh, yeah, it's okay
29:04We've got room to move to go soft. We've got room to move to go Hardy, you know
29:07So it's just the base of the bike is such a better bike
29:10But you're still trying to find it that zero percentage to get it in the window for the boys, you know

34:03He also mentioned to me that motocross you have to ride a little more on the edge
34:07Which he's actually learning how to do and be more comfortable doing
34:11So that's a note for Levi kitchen as you kind of watch him throughout the day and as he's progressed throughout the season

34:40He had caught up. He dropped back. He has repassed all these riders
34:45except for BL who's never near BL but nice rally for the 47 and
34:51His wins by the way have come via the second moto. That's how he's gotten all three of the overalls
34:57He's had this year. So second in moto one if he can do it again in moto two
35:01He could end the year with another win
35:03Yeah, and if it wasn't for his mechanic telling him he's in second
35:07He might be thinking he's leading because Tommy I was gone. So JT
35:11Well, I think about Levi kitchen just ask any player in any sport
35:15What's the most important thing is when you're headed to a playoff scenario and it's momentum you think about Levi kitchen
35:21He's won three out of four races
35:23He was so close to winning that first monster supercross championship this year
35:27But he has caught fire at the right time and there is nothing more dangerous than a rider that gets hot at the right time
35:33Yeah, absolutely
35:35I mean the kitchens really is cooking at this point and the way he's been able to do it is it's been
35:40Pretty cool to watch. I mean he had the one race that wash you go
35:44Which we were all kind of shocked at what happened
35:46But the way he was able to fight that second moto really kind of thinking his way in and playing up
35:53Last weekend been on a whole chance
35:54I miss off and then Tom be out and then having the dominant races one in the mud and then beaten Hayden at
36:00Millville so he's been able to win it in a bunch of different ways and just like supercross
36:04He's better than everyone. So that's a good feeling to have especially coming here started playoffs in a couple weeks
36:11And also kitchen has been pretty darn good
36:14Not every moto has been starts
36:16But he's had a lot of good ones and it's gonna be a big advantage if he could pull those starts in the playoffs like
36:21He was doing especially a monster energy supercross. Yeah, and I think the thing that's gonna help Levi that it's been a change this year
36:28He's been consistent on both motos last year. He was able to win one moto and didn't get a 13
36:33So even going in these playoffs with the formats and the points being consistent is gonna play out
36:39Well, but one guy that's been consistent today. Is this Tom be out?
36:43I'm sure this is what he thought was gonna happen at the opening race
36:47What the opener at the start of this motocross series being able to do this?
36:51Well, we all kind of expected but some falls but not today Tom be out front gone. Yeah dominant run for VL
36:58I think he's backed it down and the stretch run looking for his third moto win in the year. That's probably
37:04Not as many as he would have liked but as they say better late than never and this was a dominant run
