00:00There's a legend that precedes the dawn of our civilization.
00:04A vile god so large, so powerful, that it consumes entire planets as fuel.
00:09Here's your look at the brand new 3-0 Transformers Rise of the Beast, DLX Optimus Primal.
00:30Standing at approximately 11.2 inches tall, the Transformers Rise of the Beast DLX Optimus
00:45Primal collectible figure captures the essence of the iconic leader of the Maximals as he
00:49appears in the film Transformers Rise of the Beast.
00:52DLX Optimus Primal takes the honor of having the most points of articulation in the DLX
00:56collectible toyline with approximately 74 points of articulation.
01:00He contains various interlinking segments of his arm, leg, and body movements.
01:04This dynamic range of postability allows you to recreate the epic moments and battle scenes
01:08from the movie.
01:10Slated to ship the third quarter of 2024, just before we get a closer look at the Transformers
01:14Rise of the Beast DLX Optimus Primal, I'd like to thank the folks over at 3-0 that provided
01:19the sample we could have a look at.
01:21When this figure does ship, he's going to be shipping at $249.99, so it's about a $250
01:26figure.
01:27For the tape measure though, it's going to tell us that he stands at about 11.25 inches
01:31in height, or the leader of the Maximals stands 20.5 centimeters tall.
01:36Speaking of leaders, sliding over the one that leads the Maximals and bringing in the
01:40one that leads the Autobots, here's what Optimus Primal looks like with Optimus Prime.
01:45Truth be told, I probably should have brought in the Optimus Prime that we did get from
01:47the Rise of the Beast, but this is the one that's the next closest thing, as it's sharing
01:51somewhat of a similar mold.
01:53It happens to be, though, the Transformers Optimus Prime from Transformers Bumblebee.
01:56Both Primes not only share the burden of leadership, but because they're DLX releases, they share
02:00the same type of display stand as well.
02:03I think it would also be safe to say, painting a very broad brush stroke across everything,
02:07generally all 3-0 DLX releases come with this exact type of display stand.
02:11It's always usually cast in black plastic.
02:13It's always usually this mold.
02:15The only thing that is changed from release to release is the font that they print on
02:18the front.
02:19In this case, because it's Optimus Primal, we got Transformers Rise of the Beast.
02:22Of course, you've got the 3-0 logo there printed on the top.
02:25Some assembly is required.
02:26You have to take the adjustable neck portion and it snaps in place in two places.
02:29The larger piece snaps here, the smaller piece, well, you can see it for yourself, but if
02:33you look at the bottom of it, you can see that basically what it is, is it's a clamp
02:37piece that once it fits through, it spreads out.
02:40I wouldn't recommend really removing these.
02:42I've had to do it a couple of times just because I've stored stuff away and it usually
02:45results in fracturing or leaving stress marks on the clips, just because again, once they
02:49snap in place, they're snapped with the idea in mind that they're going to stay like this.
02:53Now, this does have some adjustments where not only can you swing this forward and back,
02:57but you can also bring this up and down like an elevator.
02:59To swing this forward as it is right now, it's locked in place.
03:03What you'll do is see there's this little switch on the front.
03:05With it down like this, it locks.
03:07With it up though, and you bring it up like this, you can swing this forward and back.
03:11So you can get it to the desired angle that you want to have it.
03:14Then once you get it to place where you want to have it, you just bring this down and it
03:18locks it in place.
03:19It's a little bit different though, when you want to adjust the neck though, the neck does
03:22have a very loud, very loud, very loud ratcheted joint.
03:26And once it gets extended, it locks to where it is.
03:30There's no real way to drop it until you go to the top and there's a little impressed
03:34button here.
03:35Oh, well you have to impress it.
03:36And I'm not just saying by giving it compliments, but you press it in.
03:40And once you press it in, it allows to release the lock.
03:42And then you can just, you just kind of lower it and increase it.
03:45And again, you can lock it in any one position.
03:48This does swing forward, but it doesn't swing forward in the way that you would imagine.
03:51Normally, you would just think that this would swing up and down, but it doesn't.
03:55What it does is it has these teeth, and if you guys can see, these teeth prevent this
03:59from being able to swing forward because there's actually teeth embedded inside the plastic
04:03ring as well.
04:04So with this, you actually have to lift it up to the plate place or point where you want
04:08to have it.
04:09And then it just locks back in.
04:10Once it's back in, it doesn't move at all.
04:12So you want to get it to the position that you want.
04:14I know for those that have already seen a lot of these DLX releases, this is all territory
04:17we've covered before, but for the new time collectors of DLX figures, I certainly hope
04:21there would be more.
04:22Um, yeah, this is, this is the way that the adjustable neck works.
04:25Now, how this plugs onto the back of Primal's body, normally with other releases, what it's
04:29always been the case is that there's a rectangular plate that you have to remove from the back
04:34of their body.
04:35And then that exposes a socket joint that then plugs onto the back of the base.
04:39With Primal though, they were smart enough to conceal that.
04:42If you look actually underneath what I guess would be his monkey behind.
04:45See if you lift this skirting up, there's the hole right there.
04:48And then this just plugs onto the back of the body.
04:51With the skirt, the way that they designed it, it does sort of get in the way of things.
04:55You kind of have to lift this up.
04:56You want to make sure, of course, you're getting the feet out of the way as well.
04:59And then this just plugs in place.
05:01I just want to make sure I got the legs out of the way.
05:03You know what?
05:05I'm going to put this down here for a second.
05:06I'm going to bring this up a little bit because then I don't have to conflict with the legs.
05:09But this just snaps in place, which right away is already a saving worry because normally
05:15what would have been the case is you'd have to remove the plate.
05:18And if you always have this guy displayed, you'd have to find a place to put the plate.
05:22And a lot of times I usually just put the plate back in the box, but I usually always
05:24have to put it into a baggie because it's the last thing I want to lose.
05:27Because if by chance down the road, you decide you want to have this guy displayed without
05:31the display stand, now you have to go and retrieve that plate.
05:34With this, they've made it really a lot easier.
05:36It is still sort of conflicting because, of course, now you've got to deal with getting
05:40underneath the skirt, but it's always open and exposed.
05:43And the only thing that then hides it and convinces you that it's completely finished
05:47is the fact that there's just this monkey plate that goes over top of it.
05:49Basically, it's just a skirt.
05:51So I like the fact that they included that.
05:53It's a smart way not just to have to worry about extra things that could be potentially
05:57lost.
05:58Make sure as well you don't lose this.
05:59This is the instruction manual, of course, that comes included with Optimus Primal.
06:02I want to flip through this quickly, and then we'll kind of get down to the details of the
06:05figure and his various accessories.
06:08First of all, the breakdown of his said accessories, of course, the displays then we've already
06:11looked at does attach to different pieces that come out of the box.
06:14You've got yourself some swappable hands.
06:16You've got some interchangeable face parts, cyber blades, metallic chains, and the connecting
06:20pieces that are going to go onto the back of the figure's body.
06:22On the next page, you have the adjustability and the posability of the figure.
06:25But the most important thing and the thing you always really want to look at, whether
06:28you be reviewing the figure or if you're just looking to pick this figure up for yourself,
06:32is make sure that you pick up the required batteries.
06:35Batteries are generally never included when it comes to the DLX releases.
06:38You want to make sure that you have yourself always stocked.
06:40Luckily for me, I always tend to pick up a lot of these batteries.
06:43These are button cell batteries marked as AG-13.
06:46You need two of them.
06:47Luckily, you don't need any more than two.
06:49If it was a Bumblebee release, for example, you'd have the blasters for usually those
06:52required batteries.
06:53But with Primal, though, you only need two, and they attach to the top of the figure's
06:56head.
06:57Okay, now through the accessories that come included with the figure.
07:00The first thing we'll have a look at is probably the things that we generally look at first
07:03when it comes to these releases is the fact that the figure comes includes a whole bunch
07:06of swappable hands.
07:07Noted right now is at the ends of his monkey forearms, the figure does come included with
07:11clothes punching fists.
07:12If you'd rather, though, something that's going to be wielding his blades, for example,
07:15then these are the hands for the job.
07:17The hands themselves are nicely and decoratively detailed here in a very dark gunmetal silver.
07:22You may be able to see as well there's some scratching there on the surface.
07:25So it looks like this guy's been in battle.
07:27The figure also as well comes included with a pair of relaxed hands.
07:30I want to make sure I've got the hand to hand here.
07:32The figure comes with a pair of relaxed hands, as you can see, and he also comes with a pair
07:36of gestured hands.
07:38Generally a lot of times when it comes to these displays, I always like to go with the
07:41gestured or dynamic hands.
07:42I just think it adds a little bit more pizzazz to displaying these.
07:46The hands, by the way, can be swapped out.
07:48I'm going to kind of get to that more in a moment.
07:50The figure also comes included with, I guess most of everything is kind of usually either
07:54be a swappable faceplate option or things that are going to be for specifically his
07:58cyber blades.
07:59So I guess probably the next best thing is look at the cyber blades.
08:02The cyber blades, if looking at them, seem to be identical.
08:05I don't think there's anything differently done between one or the other.
08:08They're using a translucent orange plastic.
08:10You can probably see, by the way, I'm waving my hand behind it, but they painted all this
08:14nice decorative silver over top of it.
08:16Now these can be wielded in a couple of different ways, a couple of clever ways.
08:20First of all, the obvious thing is that you can have him wielding them in his hands.
08:23So if I was to go back to those gripping hands that we looked at earlier, you simply
08:26just take the blades and you fit them very nicely in his hand.
08:28Yeah, they're not going to be going anywhere at all.
08:31If you're familiar though with Optimus Prime, one thing that's cool about the blades is
08:34that they can also be holstered on the sides of his arms.
08:38So let's kind of just pick the figure up right now.
08:42Like I said, there's going to be a fair bit to cover off here.
08:44If you look at his arms, the neat thing about his arms is that these shift upwards.
08:48So like his main forearm piece, first of all, slides up this way.
08:52But then he also, if I just move his hand out of the way, this part also shifts down.
08:56See that?
08:57I don't know if you guys can...
08:58If you drop it down like this, there's now an available slot.
09:01And hey, wouldn't you know it?
09:02I just happen to have a thing that can fit into that.
09:04We're just going to take that.
09:05We're going to now take the handle.
09:06So instead of actually fitting it into his hands, we're going to take those same handles
09:09and we're going to slide them into those holes.
09:12And we're just going to put in a little bit of pressure.
09:15And now Primal's got himself his blades.
09:16And you could do, of course, the same thing on the other side as well.
09:18So we'll just drop that down.
09:19Now, you don't necessarily have to bring these up, but I like the idea that writing himself
09:23for battle, these also shift up there as well.
09:26So we're going to take then the other blade, we're going to slide that into the back here.
09:31And now he's got himself his blades, which is a nice way of displaying the figure.
09:35But wait, there's more.
09:37What you can also do too, is that the blades do attach.
09:40So let's remove them on both sides here.
09:44There we go.
09:45And looking at the handles, there is also a connecting piece.
09:47I want to make sure I've grabbed the right...
09:48There we go.
09:50So there's this little connecting piece that basically is just a ringlet.
09:52And then there's slots on both sides, or pegs on both sides.
09:56If you look at the bottom of the blades where the ends of the handles are, you can see there's
09:59notably a slot there.
10:00You just take one end, plug it in place like that.
10:03Take the other end, slide it in there as well.
10:06Make sure it's all the way on there.
10:08And now you've got yourself a blade, or kind of like, I guess that would be his bladed...
10:12It's kind of like a bladed staff almost.
10:14And you can carry it around that way as well.
10:17But there's more.
10:19What you can do is you can also detach these.
10:21And I noticed though, when I was attaching the handles, that they're very tight, sometimes
10:24even very difficult to remove.
10:27There we go.
10:28Just detach those.
10:29The character also comes with something similar, now connecting it by a chain.
10:33One thing I like about the chain is you can see that there are a few linklets.
10:36Are these linklets?
10:37Links that have a little bit of rusting effect on them.
10:40They're not everywhere, but where they are, they count.
10:43It just adds a little bit of age and wear and tear to them.
10:45And these, by the way, are real metal chains.
10:47They're not plastic at all.
10:49So you take those same pegs that would be similar to the one that connected basically
10:52the two together, and now you attach them onto the ends of the handles.
10:55These ones actually attach a lot easier than the one that connects them both together.
10:59And you take these, plug them on both sides, and now Primal basically gets himself like
11:04a pair of bladed nunchuck almost.
11:07Really neat.
11:08I like that a lot.
11:10And there's one other way.
11:11Oh yes, there is.
11:12There's one other way of displaying these two.
11:14If you look at the back of the figure's body, he has these circular discs right here.
11:19Now this was one of the hardest things I had to remove on the figure, and in fact, I had
11:24to use myself a screwdriver to take them off.
11:26You kind of want to get in there with a screwdriver or something.
11:28You got to really be careful that you don't damage the plastic.
11:30But you just basically get underneath it, and you go like this.
11:33I don't know if you can see what I'm doing.
11:35You just sort of twist it back and forth.
11:37Not to the point where you're adding stress to it, but just enough that you can kind of
11:40get them dislodged.
11:42And you have to just kind of wiggle them back and forth, and then when you get them high
11:45enough up there, then usually you can hold on to it and just pull the whole piece out.
11:51I wish there was an easier way.
11:52I wish, if anything, that these, instead of being pegs, they could have maybe been magnetic.
11:56Magnetic would have just been the whole easier way of doing it.
11:59And then you get these clips.
12:01Now these clips are just straight gray plastic, and now those plug into those holes that are
12:05now exposed.
12:06And so we're just going to twist that in.
12:10And this was also something I noticed was a very tight fit.
12:14If you're having a struggle, by the way, getting these in place, you can always go the route
12:18of heating these up.
12:19Maybe even heating the hole, I feel, with a hair dryer.
12:22Very difficult to get these in place.
12:24But once they're in place, again, you just kind of twist it back.
12:28There we go.
12:29Once you get it twisted in place, then you can take yourself the blades.
12:32And because the blades are a fairly narrow handle, they just clip in place like that.
12:36They sit a little on the looser side.
12:39The closer that you kind of get it to the guard of the hilt, the more secure it stays
12:42in place.
12:43If you have it a little bit further down, that's where it sits a little bit more looser.
12:46But just because this is a much wider handle at the end of it, and you just snap those
12:50in place.
12:51You basically would just rinse and repeat the steps.
12:52The only thing about it, though, is obviously if you've removed now that little peg.
12:55Where did I put mine?
12:56Once you've removed that peg, you just want to make sure you put it in a place where you're
12:59not going to lose it.
13:00Because it definitely would be lost if you're not too careful.
13:03Now aside from hands and blades, Primal also does come included with three swappable face
13:08plates.
13:09One is currently being occupied by the figure's head, but we're going to go ahead and actually
13:11just remove the figure's head.
13:13The head would probably be the easiest way to show you guys.
13:16We're just going to detach it from the ball joint, and we're going to leave a decapitated
13:19Primal just there for right now.
13:21I want to show you first of all how the batteries have to be installed.
13:25It's a very easy thing, and one of the easiest battery changes that I have done with the
13:29DLX releases.
13:30It's literally just a case of taking the top panel off.
13:33And then you have to unscrew this section, take that plate off, and then you install
13:37the two AG-13 batteries.
13:40You don't have to worry about taking this off every single time, by the way, that you're
13:43going to turn on and off the eyes.
13:44Once everything is screwed in place, you just put this back in place, and just make sure
13:49you get it around the ears.
13:50And then this little button right here, you'll depress, and that'll turn on and off the eyes.
13:55A nice glowing green eye, two of them in fact, and all you have to do is just turn them on
14:00and off that way.
14:02Super simple and easy to do.
14:04While I do have the Primal head in my hands, you guys can get a closer look at the details
14:09of the figure.
14:10Just fantastic work.
14:11I will be honest, the Rise of the Beast design of Optimus Primal wasn't as interesting to
14:15me on screen, just because the character really has a lot of grays, a lot of variations of
14:20grays, and silvers, unlike maybe the original Beast Wars Optimus Primal that would have
14:24had some necessary blues, reds, and of course those silvers.
14:27Just brings a lot more colors to the table.
14:29I will say though, looking at this thing in hand, there's a lot of work.
14:33You can see the talented team behind the scenes had to put into this figure, not only
14:36with the faceplate, not only with the eyes, but just all around, just the paintwork to
14:40this as well.
14:41Now of course, this is the way it attaches onto the figure.
14:43There's the socket underneath.
14:44But while I'm actually, I'm just going to turn the eyes off right now.
14:47While I've got the head in my hands, there's two other faceplate options available.
14:52There's this one that gives us Optimus Prime sort of more in a primal look, as you can
14:55see he's got some nostrils, he's got also as well a mouth, and that swaps out with a
14:59more exposed or I guess more shielded face guard, and then this just swaps out for this
15:05one.
15:06The one that actually I do like, and I don't recall seeing it in the movie, is one that
15:09looks a little bit more akin to like the original Optimus Primal, where you've got the faceplate
15:13on the top and the bottom, and then you've got a mouth dividing the two.
15:16Now changing out the faceplates, I noticed was a harder thing to do.
15:20Not maybe as hard as removing those things on the back of his body, but it was just kind
15:23of difficult to figure out whereabouts I was supposed to pull the faceplate, because there's
15:27nothing really to hold onto.
15:29There's nothing necessarily telling you this is the part that you actually pull off.
15:33It was more just a guessing game than anything else.
15:34You just basically just pull, I found the easiest way to kind of pull it on, and you
15:38maybe can even see, like maybe there's a slot right there, gives you at least an idea of
15:42whereabouts that's, ah there we go, whereabouts that's supposed to pull, but you can see like
15:46that's where his chin ends, and then that's where the face piece goes, so like it's close
15:51in quarters.
15:52I would never recommend, you know, using a screwdriver to pry that off.
15:55You kind of have to just kind of wiggle it back and forth, and then once that's removed
15:58you can see it attaches by two pegs, and it plugs into this right here, and then there's
16:02a little slot section down here, so that plugs in place as well.
16:06So I'm going to just loosely add these, because I want to make sure that they're easy enough
16:09to remove.
16:10So there's this one, that would be one that we see in the movie, which is again okay.
16:14I've just never really been a big fan of Optimus Prime with an exposed mouth, but there's this
16:19look, or the look that I prefer, even though I don't think I've actually seen this in the
16:24movie where he has the mouth like this, I feel it's more a throwback to the original
16:28Optimus Prime from Beast Wars, or Optimus Primal.
16:31So what we'll do is, again, we'll just line up the pegs, we'll just fit that in place,
16:35and snap that in place, and now we've got like an Optimus Prime that looks a little
16:38bit more like his Beast Wars design.
16:40I'll make sure that's all the way on there, and again like the lights work exactly the
16:44same.
16:45We're not tampering at all with the actual eyes, it's just really the mouth that we're
16:48changing, but you can see like how well the look works with three different faces, and
16:52really with three different face plates, how the face varies as much as it does.
16:55We'll just turn that off.
16:56Let's pop that back onto the head, or pop it back onto the neck.
16:59So there's a ball joint right there, there's a socket right there, we'll meet the two in
17:02the middle, and we'll just plug that in place.
17:05I did notice though, getting this guy out of the packaging, that I felt like his head
17:08was too low, and in actual fact, when you look at the head, the head does shift on what
17:13essentially is a post.
17:14So there's a post, and there's a ball joint, there's a ball joint, and you know again,
17:17meeting in the middle.
17:18So I think when I came out of the packaging, the head was a little bit more lower, but
17:21you can adjust it upward if you want a little bit more of a regal stance for him.
17:25For the details on the figure, he looks fantastic.
17:27Again, I feel like he's robbed a little bit of the color that he maybe doesn't have, those
17:31primal colors that I would recognize.
17:33A lot of the blues, a lot of the reds are missing, more in favor of silvers and grays,
17:37but the silvers and grays work really well for this figure.
17:40Something I do like to do though with this Prime, is that you can bring his shoulders
17:43up, something somewhat similar to the original Optimus Primal design from Beast Wars, just
17:49bring those shoulders up a little bit.
17:50I just feel it kind of gives him a little bit more something to look at, as opposed
17:53to being fit so close to his body.
17:55Now, because he is techno-organic, you can see that there's some fur design that they've
18:00sculpted so nicely here on his shoulders.
18:02They've also got here on his forearms as well.
18:05The majority of his body though, is as you can see, very much more, again, robotic.
18:09There are a few little cool panels that flip out and move on this guy.
18:12One of the biggest ones being, I guess, the fact that on the back of his body, these do
18:16shift around.
18:17Now, you want to be careful really by the way that these attach.
18:21These attach by a ball joint on the back here.
18:23I've had this come off a couple of times, and this one was a harder one to put back
18:27in place, but there's some adjustability there as well.
18:29Some really cool circuitry, pistons, and everything that keeps this robot going.
18:32Of course, you've got, again, the incorporation of the fur there on the back of his body.
18:36We've already looked at the fact that this is the part, of course, where the adjustable
18:38neck plugs in place.
18:39Again, I like the fact that that's concealed, but all in all, it's a really interesting
18:43design for Optimus Primal.
18:45The only thing that it does really have some wear and tear is his feet.
18:48That's the only little bit of brown that we actually get on the figure.
18:51Most of it is really just scratchings of silver.
18:53Again, you've got some wear and tear to the body as a whole.
18:56It's just a really neat design.
18:57Of course, we can't overlook the fact he's got the Maximal symbol there front and center
19:00on his chest.
19:01Now, for the figure's articulation, this is going to be a whole lot to cover here,
19:05so I want to make sure I don't miss anything.
19:07We've already looked at the fact that the head is going to be on a ball joint, and it
19:09moves back and forth.
19:10It moves fairly freely, even though he does have a collar piece on the back of his head.
19:14It doesn't seem to at all limit what you can do with the head.
19:17The head does also shift.
19:19If you look at the neck, the neck is actually a separate piece.
19:22I just assumed initially that the neck was all molded as one piece for the top of his
19:26collar, but it seems like it's a separate piece.
19:29So the neck also shifts back and forth.
19:31Granted, it doesn't shift much forward and back, but it does do a little bit of movement
19:34there as well.
19:36The head does rotate back and forth.
19:37The head does also turn back and forth, even though he's got the collar in the way.
19:41The only thing I would say, and this is something I did commend him for doing earlier, as easy
19:45as it is to remove the cover to get access to the battery, it doesn't snap in a place
19:51where when you are rotating the head, you find frequently, you kind of put pressure
19:54down on the head, and then you kind of feel as you're lifting and removing your finger
19:57out of the way, that the cover comes off also quite easily as well.
20:01I wish there was a way that this could have snapped in place, but on the other end of
20:05the argument too, if it snapped in place, it'd be a whole lot harder to worry about.
20:09And then if there was like slots or pegs on either side, those small pegs could be potentially
20:14broken.
20:15So you have to kind of take the good with the bad.
20:17For his upper torso, now Prime's going to have like a crunch, and I'm just going to
20:21see if I can bring it as far forward as I can get it.
20:23I mean, there's a good amount of motion here happening with Prime.
20:27Upper torso's first of all, granted, going to be on a ball joint, so you can rotate that
20:30back and forth.
20:31When you are rotating it though, you want to kind of make sure that the skirting, so
20:34this actually does shift forward.
20:37And when you're doing it, you want to just kind of make sure that that's out of the way,
20:39because when you're rotating the torso, it may though have a process, and it does happen
20:43a couple of times where it clips that.
20:45And it doesn't necessarily pop this off, but when you're rotating his torso, you can feel
20:49like all of a sudden it hits something.
20:51And then you're like, what did I hit?
20:52What did I hit?
20:53And then you look on the back and realize it just hit the back of his monkey skirt.
20:56So you want to make sure that that's just out of the way.
20:58But yeah, it does rotate forward and back quite freely.
21:00It does rock this way also as well.
21:02And we've already looked at the fact there's a nice forward crunch there as well.
21:06We could look at also the fact that this does serve as a part of his postability point.
21:10The shoulders are on hinges, and there's a ball joint that attaches that to the inside
21:13cavity of the shoulder, and it moves back and forth.
21:15So there's a little bit of postability there.
21:17The shoulders move forward and back.
21:20They also move, of course, up and down as well.
21:22He has a swivel there, what would be at the top of his shoulder blade.
21:25I guess that shoulder blade would be over here.
21:28His shoulder would rotate here.
21:29When you're rotating it though, you want to just make sure that the shoulder is out of
21:33the way, because there's this little lip.
21:35Let me just show you guys.
21:36There's this little part that sticks up like this.
21:39And when it does rotate, if it rotates with the shoulder down, you can kind of feel it
21:42hit something.
21:43So you just want to make sure it's brought up a little bit.
21:46Rotates forward and back, and then he's got a hinge in his elbow that hinges in two places.
21:50And it's sort of this automorphic thing that happens.
21:53If you look at the back of his body, when you rotate it, it rotates and then it stops
21:57all of a sudden, and then it continues its way on the form.
22:00But it also shifts this shoulder pad piece, or the elbow pad piece, it shifts that forward
22:06as well.
22:07See that?
22:08Of course, this does also shift, so I want to make sure I just bring this back around
22:11here.
22:12So this slides up as well, so we can count that as a posability point.
22:15And this also drops down as well to hide, of course, the place that's going to store
22:18the blade.
22:19All right, looking at the lower half of his body, these panels actually do shift.
22:25They shift only back and forth just a little bit.
22:27But also when you bring the legs out, these panels, I don't know if you guys can see,
22:31the panels also shift down.
22:35It's just a little bit kind of a way just to kind of guide and make sure that they're
22:37not in the way when you are moving the figure around.
22:41These back panels stay in place, so you want to make sure that those don't get clipped.
22:43The legs, actually, there's a swivel there at the top of the thigh.
22:47I want to make sure, again, I'm not missing out on anything.
22:49Swivel at the top of the thigh, there's a double hinge, a very continuous hinge there
22:53that starts at the top, continues its way down here, and again, you can see so much
22:57work gets put into this figure.
22:59Double hinge there, and then when we get to the leg, or more so the feet, the foot moves
23:04back and forth this way, it moves up and down.
23:06There's toe articulation, and there also seems to be some heel articulation as well on the
23:11back, right?
23:12Maybe there isn't.
23:13I thought there was maybe some on the back there as well, but still like a full ankle
23:16tilt and ankle rock back and forth this way, and again, you've got your toe articulation.
23:20So this guy has the articulation where it counts.
23:23It does have, I think, even advertised, it has the most levels of articulation that we've
23:28gotten ourselves from a 3DLX release.
23:31And again, like one last time, just bringing back in Optimus Prime, I just had this guy
23:35off to the side here.
23:36My Optimus Prime, still love this figure.
23:38I probably should have brought in, yeah, I probably should have brought in the Rise of
23:41the Beast Optimus Prime, but at least it gives you guys an idea of size-wise, and yeah, the
23:46buttons still work, the batteries still work on this guy.
23:48Let's turn on Optimus Prime so you guys can see the difference.
23:51I feel like he should have been a little bit shorter, but again, like to go back and watch
23:54the movie again, I think they're scaled pretty good to one another, because I know like the
23:57Rise of the Beast Optimus Prime is this size.
24:00They've just done a little bit of different reworking in the torso, and they've incorporated
24:04a lot more of the dark gunmetal gray, but this is a somewhat similar size, if not the
24:08exact size of Optimus Prime.
24:09We've already looked at the Rise of the Beast Optimus, if you guys want to check out that
24:12review, but yeah, like Optimus Primal.
24:15You know, while again, like honestly, in fact, you know, to be all honest with you guys,
24:18I didn't like the design of most of the Rise of the Beast, because they were just, again,
24:21like very dark.
24:22Everything was all kind of monochromatic, dark gray, dark silver, it's just a whole
24:27lot with very lacking of colors.
24:30Yet though, seeing this thing physically in hand, and what really, again, the talented
24:33team behind the scenes at Threezer have been able to do on all their DLX releases, keeping
24:38in mind, again, like these guys are die-cast.
24:40Die-cast body, at least for the frame, and of course, they add the plastic panels over
24:44top of it.
24:45Primal does have a lot of cool accessories working for him, of course, the biggest one
24:48being the fact he does come included with his blades.
24:50I like also to the fact that there's ways to display the blades, not always, always
24:53just in the case of having the hold in his hands.
24:56You can, of course, attach them onto the sides of his forearms, you can attach them onto
24:59the back of his body, and then even that, you can also attach them together to either
25:02have a bladed staff weapon, or hey, why not?
25:05You can also attach chains to have like a nunchuck weapon as well.
25:08I like the look of Primal, I really am happy with how this one turned out.
25:11I have to say, I end up liking this one more physically in hand than I did like him on
25:15the silver screen.
25:16Opting here for Optimus Primal to display the figure in final looks with the blades
25:19attached by chain, one of the ways of displaying the blades.
25:23Not only that, you can have him holding in his hand like I have right now, you can have
25:25him jetting out from the forearms, that's pretty cool.
25:28You can attach them together, you can attach them by chains, or if you want to have them
25:31conveniently stored away, unfortunately, one of the hardest things though to change on
25:35the figure was popping out those pegs in the back of his body and attaching those clamp
25:39pieces to store the blades that way.
25:41Luckily though, less stress was involved to change the batteries on the top of the figure's
25:45head.
25:46In fact, the head is one thing that comes off way too easily, and it was just a case
25:50of once that plate is off, you just have to unscrew the battery cover and then install
25:54your two AG-13 batteries.
25:56Usually is always the case when it comes to DLX releases from 3ZERO, batteries are not
26:00sadly included, but the batteries are fairly easy to pick up.
26:03I mean, you could pick up like two trays of them from Amazon for probably like 10 to $12
26:08at most.
26:09You may also notice here as we're wrapping up the review on the rotisserie, I've got
26:12the character currently displayed with one of the other face plates that we didn't start
26:16the review with.
26:17Maybe not one that's as closely resembling as the way he looks in the Rise of the Beast,
26:20but the way I like to display this figure is a little bit more closely resembling the
26:24way he looks in Transformers Beast Wars.
26:26I've also got the shoulders swung up there too.
26:28One of the ways of course, making him a look a little bit more closer to the original CG
26:31series.
26:32I just love this figure.
26:34Maybe again, like he's lacking some of the color.
26:37Not that I would consider that 3ZERO would entertain this idea, but to take this mold,
26:41which is already good right away, and if they were to release this, say in Beast Wars quote
26:46color schemes, we're bringing in again, some of the blues, some of the reds, where again,
26:50like maybe not most movie accurate, it certainly would probably be enticing to collectors that
26:55maybe didn't like again, like the fact that pretty much like all the Beast Wars were very
26:59dark, grimy, very dark, like metallic colors.
27:04Primal was a lot of grays.
27:05Primal was a lot of gunmetal grays, probably a lot of silvers.
27:08I think just by releasing this guy, you know, again, throwing out an idea to 3ZERO, if they
27:12released this guy in a Beast War color scheme, I would be curious to know how many people
27:16would be interested to pick this figure up.
27:18Even without the lacking of those colors, from head to toe, it's an interesting looking
27:23bot, super posable, and hopefully I was able to cover off the details and the posability
27:27on this figure through the course of this very long review.
27:30As stated already, this guy is slated to ship the third quarter of 2024.
27:34Sadly though, he has sold out over on 3ZERO's site, or at least the pre-order has sold out,
27:39and it was going for $249.99 US dollars, or about $250, of course, with all the shipping
27:44on top of that as well.
27:45If you guys are still interested and would like to get your hands on this one, you probably
27:48could check around to other various online sites, but normally that do sell and stock
27:523ZERO releases, and get your hands on Primal that way.
27:56Big big thank you once again to the folks over at 3ZERO that did provide this sample
27:59of the brand new Transformers Rise of the Beast Optimus Primal, a fantastic release.
28:04Looking forward to having this guy displayed with the earlier look that Rise of the Beast
28:07Optimus Prime.
28:08If you guys did enjoy this video, do it a solid, throw it a like.
28:11If you guys want to stick around for more though, hit the subscribe, turn on the bell,
28:14come back please.
28:15As always guys, thanks for watching.
28:17See you guys next time.
