Leeds Rhinos 18, Catalans Dragons 6: YEP video review

YEP rugby league writer Peter Smith gives his thoughts on Leeds Rhinos' 18-6 defeat of catalans Dragons at AMT Headingley.

00:00Well, Leeds Rhinos have beaten Catalan's Dragons here at AMT, heading the 18 points to 6.

00:07And that is a huge win for Leeds. It keeps them well in the playoff hunt.

00:12It seemed unlikely at half-time when Catalan's deservedly led 6-0.

00:16They had a patched-up side with a lot of players missing through injuries and some apparently carrying knocks.

00:21And I think that took its toll in the second half, but credit to Leeds.

00:24I thought they were ordinary in the first 40 minutes, but very good in the second.

00:29They came out with an extra spring in the step and took the game to Catalans

00:34and dominated throughout, scored three excellent tries.

00:37A couple of really nice breaks that were finished off with some excellent support play.

00:41Matt Frawley again had a good game.

00:44Blackie Miller continues his improvement under Brad Arthur.

00:49He's still got the odd mistake in him, looks a little bit lost at times,

00:52but he was very good overall today and deserved one in the match.

00:56I was particularly impressed by Tom Nicholson-Watton.

00:59The young prop who got probably the most game time he's had in a first-team game for Leeds

01:05and was really strong, ran hard, forced a couple of errors, made some really strong tackles.

01:11And he looks like a good prospect for the future and a player who will develop under Brad Arthur.

01:17Leeds will have to be better than they were in the first half today,

01:21but if they can build on that second-half performance,

01:23it will give them some momentum to go into the next two games, which are against London and Hull,

01:27both of which you'd expect them to win, really, looking at the table.

01:32If they can do that, they'll be right in the hunt for the top six.

01:36So four games to go and the season is far from over.
