00:00Good morning from the Pag-asa Weather Forecasting Center.
00:04This is our update on the weather for the next 24 hours.
00:10You can see here in our latest satellite images,
00:13the thick clouds that are affecting the northern part of our country
00:18is the continuous effect of the southwest monsoon.
00:24The wind will continue to blow the rain
00:27or the continuous rain and thunderstorms
00:29in the northern part of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
00:34It is clearer than what we expected in Metro Manila
00:37and in the other parts of our country.
00:39Even now, the chances of thunderstorms
00:42or localized thunderstorms are still possible
00:44from afternoon to night.
00:47We will continue to monitor the storm
00:51outside our Philippine Area of Responsibility.
00:53This is the Severe Tropical Storm Shanshan.
00:56Its international name is Shanshan.
00:58This storm passed by at 3 a.m.
01:00in the 2,055-kilometer line of Central Luzon.
01:05This is a strong wind line
01:07that reaches up to 110 kilometers per hour
01:11and reaches up to 135 kilometers per hour.
01:15The continuous movement of the so-called storm
01:17will slow down to 15 kilometers per hour.
01:20In the coming days,
01:21we still do not expect a direct effect
01:25of the so-called storm outside our Philippine Area of Responsibility
01:28in any part of our country.
01:30We also do not expect that the storm Shanshan
01:33will become stronger
01:35in any part of our country.
01:41For now, we expect the continuous effect
01:43of the storm here in the western sections
01:45of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao
01:48in the coming days.
01:50The continuous rainfall of heavy rain
01:52here in the western sections of Mindanao
01:54will continue until tomorrow.
01:56But we expect generally improving weather conditions
01:59in a large part of Mindanao
02:01starting Monday next week.
02:03For the next three to five days,
02:04the heavy rainfall will continue
02:06in the northern part of Southern Luzon
02:08and Visayas.
02:10And it will continue the forecasted weather
02:13or generally fair weather conditions
02:15in a large part of our country
02:17including Metro Manila.
02:21And for the current weather conditions
02:23here in Luzon,
02:25due to the continuous effect of the storm,
02:27we expect a cloudy sky
02:29accompanied by heavy rain,
02:31hail, and lightning
02:33in a large part of Nicaragua.
02:35So in the mentioned areas,
02:37we should continue to be prepared
02:39and alert to the dangers of flooding
02:41and landslides
02:42if we continue to experience heavy rainfall.
02:45The expected weather conditions
02:47in Metro Manila
02:49and the rest of Luzon
02:51will be clearer and warmer
02:53this morning until the afternoon.
02:55But it is possible for thunderstorms
02:57or thunderstorm clouds to form
02:59when the afternoon arrives.
03:01It is possible for the rain to fall
03:03late afternoon to evening.
03:05The rain will not last long,
03:07usually from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
03:09The maximum temperature forecast
03:11for Metro Manila today
03:13is possible to reach 32°C.
03:1525°C here in Baguio City
03:17and 34°C in Tagagarao.
03:19The maximum temperature forecast
03:21for Metro Manila today
03:23is possible to reach 34°C.
03:2534°C here in Legazpi
03:27and 32°C in Tagaytay.
03:31In the areas of Palawan,
03:33Visayas, and Mindanao,
03:35this area of Palawan
03:37and western sections of Visayas
03:39and Mindanao,
03:41namely the regions of western Visayas,
03:43Negros Island region,
03:45Zamboanga Peninsula,
03:47and the islands of Basilan,
03:49Sulu, and Tawetawi,
03:51we hope that today,
03:53the sky will be cloudy
03:55and the chances of thunderstorms
03:57will be high.
03:59So let's prepare for flash floods
04:01and landslides in the mentioned areas.
04:03For the rest of Visayas
04:05and the rest of Mindanao,
04:07there will only be isolated rain showers
04:09or the usual late afternoon
04:11to evening thunderstorms.
04:13So don't bring umbrellas.
04:15That's just an exception
04:17for sudden rains
04:19and thunderstorms.
04:21The maximum temperature forecast
04:23for Calayan Islands today
04:25is possible to reach 32°C.
04:2731°C here in Puerto Princesa.
04:3132°C in Iloilo and Cebu
04:33and 33°C in Tacloban.
04:37The maximum temperature forecast
04:39for Cagayan de Oro today
04:41is possible to reach 32°C.
04:4334°C in Davao
04:45and 32°C
04:47in Zamboanga.
04:49As for the situation
04:51of our oceans,
04:53there is still no gale warning
04:55for any floods.
04:57Light to moderate or mild
04:59to moderate to moderate
05:01is what we expect for most of our country.
05:03However,
05:05there are still chances
05:07for offshore thunderstorms
05:09especially here in the western section
05:11of our country.
05:13So if there are offshore thunderstorms
05:15brought by the ocean,
05:17we still expect strong winds
05:19which will affect
05:21the upper part of our oceans.
05:23The sunny days
05:25here in Manila
05:27will be popular later at 5.43 a.m.
05:29and will sink later
05:31at 6.13 p.m.
