A car was swept into the river, and several other vehicles parked near the Langkawi Cable Car attraction in Langkawi, Kedah, were damaged by strong currents from a flash flood following a heavy downpour on Friday (Aug 23) afternoon.

00:17Langkawi OCPD Assistant Commissioner Shariman Ashari reported that the storm, which lasted
00:23from 1pm to 2.30pm, also damaged food and clothing stalls at a nearby resort.
00:29She added that police had secured the entrance to the affected area to prevent public access
00:34until the water receded.
00:37Earlier, videos of the gushing waters in the Telaga Tuju waterfall area went viral on social
00:44media.
00:45Langkawi Civil Defence Force Officer Khairul Afzan Yassin later confirmed that the situation
00:51had returned to normal after the rain stopped at around 2.40pm.
00:55However, the Meteorological Department has forecasted thunderstorms in Kedah until 9pm.
