NFL Week 3 Preseason Preview: Los Angeles Chargers vs. Dallas Cowboys

  • last month
The Dallas Cowboys are heading back to Arlington after their final training camp practice in Oxnard California concluded on Wednesday afternoon. The Cowboys will host the LA Charges on Saturday in AT&T Stadium for their final preseason game. Kick off is set for 3:00 PM.

Quarterback Trey Lance started the last week against the Las Vegas Raiders, expect no change on Saturday. Head coach Mike McCarthy stated on Wednesday that Lance will likely start and go the entire way against the Chargers. Jerry Jones said emphatically that Lance has already earned a roster spot and is on the team. Lance has thrown 40-64 for 62 percent and leads all quarterbacks this preseason with 78 rushing yards.

The secondary has been lethal the last two contests, the Cowboys currently lead the NFL with five interceptions this preseason with four of them being in the first game against the Rams. With nobody sure how many safeties and corners are going to make the 53-man roster there are two players to look out for in this matchup against LA. Julius Wood and Israel Mukuamu, both had great camps and great preseason games thus far and are looking to make enough impact to make the roster.

Speaking of roster moves Dallas made another transaction on Wednesday afternoon, adding once again to the defensive line signed veteran DT Linval Joseph from the Chargers. The defensive line really changed after last season ending with the departure of Dorance Armstrong Jr. (Washington Commanders), Donte Fowler Jr. (Washington Commanders), Johnathan Hankins (Seattle Seahawks), and Neville Gallimore (Miami Dolphins).

With that being said Owner and GM Jerry Jones has really beefed up his defensive line as of late during training camp. So far Jones has traded a 2026 sixth-round pick to the New York Giants in exchange for veteran defensive tackle Jordan Phillips. Jones also signed veteran free agent edge rusher Carl Lawson. Now, adding DT Joseph to that depth. Joseph is a 14-year veteran, he will receive 2.5 million guaranteed and can get up to 4 million with incentives on his one-year deal according to CBS Sports.

Following practice on Wednesday afternoon it was reported that rookie first round draft pick Tyler Guyton left practice early due to knee sourness. He may not be suiting up for the final preseason game on Saturday but it was said that the soreness was minor and expect him to be ready week one against the Browns.
