Late one night, a UFO is spotted over Japan. After a run-in with a strange, insectoid creature that leaves a few humans in suspended animation, a Defense Council meeting is held as to what to do with this potential menace from another world. Captain Muramatsu decides the best way is to attempt to communicate with it. When this goes sour, the aliens, called the Baltans, take control of Arashi's body and declare their true purpose -- to colonize the Earth with their own race, billions of which are already here, in microscopic form and aboard a cloaked ship.

00:30Ultraman, Ultraman, here he comes from the sky.
00:39Ultraman, Ultraman, watch our hero fly.
00:45In a super jet he comes from a billion miles away.
00:49From a distant planet land, comes our hero Ultraman.
01:00Ultraman!
01:14Dito, telephone.
01:15Oh, for me?
01:19Dito here.
01:21Ah, doctor. The eye still hurts a little and it looks awful.
01:25Yes, all right. I'll put ice on it. Thank you, doctor.
01:29You noticed the eye, huh?
01:37Yes, I kind of thought you would.
01:39It doesn't look so bad, really, does it?
01:42Everybody thinks it looks really terrible, doesn't it?
01:49Well, I'll tell you how I got this eye.
01:52You have to keep it a secret, though.
01:54It's just between us, don't forget.
01:57It started happening to me last night around midnight.
02:00Sit back. I'm going to tell you the story.
02:04It was a peaceful night in the city.
02:06Temperature comfortable, humidity pleasant.
02:09At science patrol headquarters, everyone was sound asleep.
02:13Everyone except one miserable man, me.
02:21Sheep 9038, Sheep 9039.
02:26Come on, now. Why don't you jump over it?
02:28Jump, I said. Why are you waiting? Why don't you go ahead?
02:30Sheep, go ahead. Why don't you jump over that little fence?
02:47Hey, Dito, let's get going.
02:49Sheep 9049, Sheep 9050.
02:51Wake up, let's go.
02:55You're taking too long. Hurry.
03:02What's happened, Captain?
03:07Something strange has occurred.
03:10Our radar says an unidentified flying object has been seen flying over the city.
03:15Then it disappeared off the screen.
03:17Well, it's possible, sir, that it was a sheep from somewhere in outer space.
03:20Or a meteorite of some kind.
03:23More importantly, how can we investigate further?
03:26A patrol is out already.
03:28Hayata's been sent to the area where the object was seen.
03:38Captain, this is Hayata.
03:41The object was last seen at latitudes 33 degrees and 19 minutes north,
03:44longitude 139 degrees and 6 minutes east.
03:47The computer will give us all the details in a few minutes.
03:56It was last seen there?
03:58That indicates the object landed near here.
04:03A report came in just now, Captain.
04:05It says that no country in the world has launched any rockets into space tonight.
04:09This is Hayata again.
04:11The computer has now pinpointed the exact spot.
04:13The object, whatever it is, seems to have landed at the Scientific Technical Center.
04:17Arashi.
04:18Coming, Captain.
04:20Arashi.
04:21Sir?
04:22I want you to go to the Scientific Technical Center.
04:24I was hoping you'd send me, sir.
04:26Arashi.
04:28But not in your slippers.
04:30What about regular shoes?
04:32Then you can leave, sir, as soon as you can.
04:34Report.
04:35Yes, sir.
04:37All right.
04:38You can go.
04:40Didn't you know you don't wear your slippers on duty?
04:50It was already early morning as Arashi arrived at the Scientific Technical Center.
04:53The computer was sent to the area where the object was seen.
04:56The computer was sent to the area where the object was seen.
04:59It was already early morning as Arashi drove toward the Scientific Technical Center.
05:11That's it. Keep your hands on the wheel.
05:13Huh?
05:14Hello, Arashi.
05:15Ushino, what are you doing here?
05:17I've been ordered to go to the Scientific Technical Center, but the Captain didn't mention taking you along.
05:22I know, but I mentioned it to myself because I am Arashi.
05:25So I see.
05:28I'll stay out of your way.
05:29But you don't know what you'll run into at the Scientific Center.
05:32And in case you need it, I'll lend you a hand.
05:48You'd better stay here.
05:50I've got to conduct an investigation.
05:52And I could run into danger in there.
05:54You remain right here.
05:55I'm going in there alone.
05:57But I want to go too.
05:59You can't, but I've got a special job you can do.
06:02Keep in touch with headquarters for me, okay?
06:04Okay, Arashi.
06:06Good luck.
06:26Oh!
06:30Sir! What's wrong?
06:32What's the matter?
06:38Ushino!
06:39Contact Science Headquarters and say that something strange has happened.
06:44I'll need help in here.
06:55Okay.
07:08Huh?
07:25Ushino!
07:26Hayata, Arashi's inside the main building,
07:28but I haven't received any further communication from him.
07:31But my sister keeps calling me on the radio.
07:33Ushino! Ushino!
07:34Any further reports from Arashi?
07:36Come in, Ushino!
07:38She's calling me every second.
07:40She wants a minute-to-minute account.
07:42What does she think we're putting here after all?
07:44Does she think we're at a haunted house?
07:46I don't know, Hayata.
07:47I don't know.
07:48I don't know.
07:49I don't know.
07:50I don't know.
07:51I don't know.
07:52I don't know.
07:53I don't know.
07:54Does she think we're at a horse race?
07:56Just do your job.
08:01This is Ushino.
08:02I spoke to Hayata here at the car.
08:04Right now he's going to enter the main laboratory building,
08:07and he's now about 18 yards from the building entrance.
08:09He's now about 16 yards.
08:11He's now about 13 yards.
08:12I don't need every detail.
08:13This isn't a horse race, you know.
08:24Theratulations, Hayata.
08:25Thank you, lost boy.
08:28Gordon, baby.
08:29Gordon, are you going to be all right?
08:30I don't know.
08:31I'm not going to tell you what happened.
08:32I'll be sure that I won't.
08:33Gordon.
08:34I'm not going to tell you what happened.
08:36I'll be sure I won't.
08:39Gordon, baby, come on.
08:41Arash!
08:55Strange, I don't know what they are.
09:25Oshino, it's too dangerous here.
09:29The safest thing right now is for me to retreat.
09:34At an emergency meeting of the Supreme Defense Council,
09:38the creatures from outer space and a way to defend the world against them were discussed.
09:43Captain Mura, do you or any other members of the science patrol have any ideas?
09:49No sir, none at all, not at present.
09:51However...
09:53Go ahead, out with it.
09:55Tell us what you're thinking, Captain.
09:57I...
10:00Nothing.
10:02Captain, I want to hear it.
10:07I was thinking of trying to have a talk with them.
10:10This isn't the time to be funny, it's a very serious matter.
10:14Do you really intend to try to talk to them?
10:16It might be the only way, sir.
10:17They use dangerous weapons.
10:19Weapons such as have never been seen before here on Earth.
10:22Perhaps the only way we can stop them is to attack the ship in which they came here.
10:28Then we're all in agreement about that.
10:31If we're able to find the invader's ship,
10:34I suggest that we use our newest nuclear weapons against it.
10:37Are you certain they will have the desired effect?
10:40Suppose they do not destroy it, what do we do then?
10:43We'll be at their mercy.
10:45Gentlemen, why don't we try to find out what they want?
10:48If it's something very simple, we could give it to them and ask them to leave.
10:52Absolutely not!
10:54You mean surrender to them.
10:56That's what you're really saying, isn't it?
10:58It sounds like it.
11:00The conference went on for hours,
11:02and because no one else had a sensible suggestion,
11:04they decided to try Captain Moore's idea.
11:09Come here, come here.
11:11Come here, come here.
11:16I don't understand you.
11:18I want to be your friend.
11:20Outer space talk.
11:22Are you sure?
11:24Well, it's space language, I think. Sort of universal.
11:26The only thing is, I haven't used it on anyone from outer space yet.
11:30Let's go.
11:37So there I was, me, Tito, along with Hayata,
11:40and the scientific tactical center,
11:42to try to talk to the creatures from outer space.
11:44Meanwhile, the world was put on full emergency alert against the invaders.
12:05I'm ready, sir.
12:07And we're ready to protect you.
12:08Those rockets will blast off if you signal good.
12:10We're going to do our best.
12:12I hope so.
12:26Hmm.
12:30Ah, Hayata.
12:32Are you sure this gun's been loaded?
12:34It's completely full.
12:36Ah.
12:38The first one I see won't be real,
12:40so I shoot at the second, and that's real.
12:42So I skip the first, and I aim at the second,
12:44and I hope I hit it.
12:46And if I don't, it's goodbye.
12:48Go ahead.
12:50Ah, Hayata.
12:52In case the talks don't go well, you'll help me, won't you?
12:54If you don't get going, you won't get a chance to talk.
12:58I think I got laryngitis.
13:01I haven't any voice left, so how can I talk?
13:03You go ahead.
13:05I'll remain back here.
13:07Now, don't forget, I'll be counting on you.
13:09You'll be all right.
13:16Okay.
13:18Now it's up to me.
13:20Hmm.
13:22I'm not afraid.
13:24Not much, anyway.
13:26Oh!
13:28Oh!
13:30Oh.
13:35Oh.
13:38I knew that was me.
13:40Hmph.
13:44Oh.
13:46Oh.
13:48Oh.
13:50Oh.
13:52Oh.
13:54Oh.
14:14That one isn't real!
14:16It's the second one that's real!
14:18Ah!
14:21Which one is the real monster?
14:23Hi.
14:26Hi.
14:29passo.
14:32P.
14:35Pi.
14:38Pi.
14:41Pi.
14:44Pi.
14:47Cala.
14:50Cala.
15:23Rushi?
15:25Rushi, all right?
15:28Your space language was too hard for us to understand,
15:32so we have decided to communicate with you through this man.
15:35We have taken over and now control his body.
15:38To talk to us, you have to talk through him.
15:41Talk through him?
15:42Oh!
15:47Do... do you want me to drag you?
15:49What?
15:51I must be brave.
15:56I can't stop being afraid.
16:02Space creature, why did you come here to Earth?
16:06While we were on a trip in space, our home planet, Bolton, was destroyed by nuclear explosions conducted by a group of mad scientists from the morbid Galaxy 4.
16:18We could not return to our home, so we began searching for another planet on which to settle.
16:24As we passed Earth, which we know as planet M240, our stabilizers were affected by gravity, and we were forced to land in order to repair them.
16:37I want to ask you, why did you land in this area?
16:41Your technical center has the parts we need in order to repair our ship and continue on our journey.
16:46I have another thing to ask. What made you freeze all the men who happened to get in the way?
16:50You gave the reason yourself just now. They got in our way.
16:55Where are you planning to go now?
16:58Our journey is over. This planet, your Earth, is the perfect place for which we have been looking. We will live on Earth.
17:07They can't. Just who are they anyhow?
17:10I don't know.
17:11You can stay.
17:13You must follow our laws and all of our customs. If you agree, you will be permitted to remain here on our Earth.
17:19How many came here with you?
17:21Sixty billion, four hundred million.
17:24All of you are here on Earth?
17:27They are the size of bacteria, too tiny for Earthlings' eyes.
17:31My fellow creatures all can sleep and work as they have for years inside of our invisible ship.
17:37Just one among them is big enough to be seen by an Earthling.
17:41Listen, you can't stay here on Earth. There are at least four billion people here and it's getting crowded already.
17:46Why don't you go live on Mars?
17:50None of us like Mars. We don't want to stay there. It's impossible for us to be able to spend our lives on Mars.
17:55Why is that? Tell me.
17:58No, I cannot say.
18:01Ah, you nearly did tell us. And it's just too bad you didn't say it.
18:05I said too much already. Now we will take over the Earth. Soon it will be ours. Everybody will be slaves.
18:12Oh.
18:14Stay there. Don't run away.
18:17I'll shoot it.
18:20Oh, no!
18:22Oh, no!
18:24Oh, no!
18:26Oh, no!
18:28Oh, no!
18:30Oh, no!
18:32Oh, no!
18:34Oh, no!
18:36Oh, no!
18:38Oh, no!
18:40Oh, no!
18:42I'll shoot it.
18:43Wait.
18:44It's going to get away.
19:03Start firing at him.

20:10Isn't there any way to fight this thing?
20:12Spacium, I think.
20:14Spacium?
20:15Yes, it's on Mars.
20:16That's all we could get it.
20:17And we can't get it here on Earth.
20:18Is that right?
20:21Mm-hmm.
20:22Oh, I know he could help us.
20:25He?
20:26And who is that, sir?
20:32Her!
20:33Hayata!
20:34Ah, it's Ultraman.
20:35Ultraman's going to help us.

23:28I feel much better, finally.
23:41You look fine.
23:42Take it easy.
23:45You wouldn't have had a chance if Ultraman hadn't arrived there when he did.
23:48For a minute, I thought that you were Ultraman, the way you jumped off that roof.
23:51That's very funny, Ito.
23:55Ah, so you're still thinking of this black eye.
23:59I'll tell you how I got it then.
24:01You see, I waited till it was quiet and got back into bed and I was soundly sleeping.
24:09Fifteen thousand eight hundred two.
