00:00Good morning from Skengness Grammar School. It's GCSE day. There's a lot of noise in the hall.
00:08Jude Hunton, you're the headteacher here. How have the students done?
00:14Really well. It's great to be back a week later to some A-levels and to be celebrating with the young people.
00:22I'm here with the head of school, Miss Walker, and lots of really fantastic young people.
00:28I think we were just talking, Miss Walker and I, about how this year group was, I think, the first bubble year group in Year 7,
00:37you know, way, way back. And now they've gone from being, you know, a bubble year to realising their dreams.
00:44So we're absolutely thrilled.
00:45What exactly do you mean by bubble year?
00:47Well, I'm referring back, sorry, I'm referring back to those dark days of the pandemic.
00:51Right, OK.
00:52Their school experience was quite different from traditional Year 7's joining the grammar.
00:57And so we're so pleased to think that they've gone from bubble to dreams.
01:02Yeah. Oh, well, let's hope so, because we have Harold here who has bravely volunteered to open his results live.
01:12Harold, off you go. Let's see how you've done.
01:19I don't, I don't.
01:25This is the results. There it is.
01:28There we go. So that's the one that you're on.
01:35Everyone's really anxious.
01:41The shop disbelief.
01:45Can we have a clue?
01:49OK.
01:50What does endorsement mean?
01:52That means yes, you've got in, that's great, that's good.
01:57So what have you got for, what's biology?
02:00Nine.
02:01A nine. What's business studies?
02:04Seven.
02:05Chemistry?

02:10Six. OK, that's good. And geography?
02:15Seven.
02:16Maths?

02:18So you've done really awesome. What's, how do you feel?
02:21Oh, look at that, physics. Nine.
02:24I'm delighted about that. That's extraordinary.
02:26It's a really, really tough subject there that you've done extremely well and you must be really pleased.
02:33Yeah.
02:34Yeah, he's not, he's not sure. It's all in shock, all in shock.
02:38What are you going on to do?
02:39Sixth form.
02:40Excellent.
02:41Yeah, do you know what subjects you're doing in sixth form?
02:43Biology, chemistry and maths.
02:46You're taking the difficult ones there.
02:50Do you know what you want to do after school?
02:52I mean, it's a while yet, isn't it?
02:54But have you any idea?
02:56In the future.
02:57I want to be a doctor.
02:58You want to be a doctor?
02:59Yeah.
03:00Well, we certainly need a few more of those, so carry on the good work and good luck.
03:07Now I'm just going to come over.
03:09I've been with you on this GCSE A-Level journey for a few years now, haven't I?
03:19Absolutely.
03:20And you're always excited. You must be really happy with how the students have done today.
03:26I was so overwhelmed and the thing is, it's amazing to watch every single student reach their own successes and see their own achievement.
03:36They constantly demonstrate our values that we've got.
03:40They've learnt the knowledge.
03:42They've practised so hard.
03:44They've all put in so much effort and revised.
03:47And it's fair.
03:48Today they've got, they've reaped the rewards and they get to see how they're going to be successful in the future if they put that effort in and that time and that practice.
03:57So, yeah, I'm super excited to get back in the hall again.
04:02There's quite a few who've spinned round.
04:05We can see that there's a long queue of students and parents as well that have come along to collect the results today.
04:13So, hope it all goes well.
04:15I'll let you get back in there.
04:17And thank you, Mr. Hunton, as well.
04:20You know, I know it's a big day for you and it's a big day for Spilsby as well because that is under your wing, isn't it?
04:29That's right.
04:30The King Edward VI?
04:32Yeah.
04:33Yeah, yeah.
04:35How has things gone there?
04:38Really pleased.
04:39It's a community that benefits a lot from the hard work of the staff and they in turn benefit from the support of the families.
04:47And the kids there are wonderful.
04:49They work really, really hard.
04:51I'm actually very excited to get over there in half an hour and celebrate with them too.
04:56Yeah, well, I know that the David Ross Education Trust team are getting those results over to us very quickly as well.
05:05So, hope it all goes well.
05:07And we'd just like to wish all the GCSE students today every success.
05:14And we'll be posting the results on Lincolnshire World during the day as we get them.
05:20So, thank you for joining us.
05:22Thank you very much.
