00:09In a statement by the DOH, the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, or RITM, reported that Health Secretary Ted Herbosa said that a clade 2 variant was found in the 33-year-old mpox case based on the sequencing done.
00:24The DOH explained that the so-called variant is less severe and has a higher survival rate.
00:31The clade 1A was found in the Democratic Republic of Congo with a case fatality rate of 3.6%, while the clade 1B, a new strain, is the cause of the outbreak of mpox in the Congo and neighboring countries.
00:47Secretary Herbosa urged the public not to be alarmed, instead, be alert and be united in the fight against the spread of mpox.
