Floyd Mayweather faces off with John Gotti III ahead of Mexico bout  Former world boxing champion Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti III, the grandson of a notorious former New York crime boss, face off ahead of an exhibition bout in Mexico City. Mayweather retired from boxing in 2017, unbeaten in 50 bouts, but continues to appear in fights that do not count toward his career record. His opponent in the August 24 fight is the grandson of John Gotti, the head of the Gambino crime family who died in prison in 2002.
