Space may be the final frontier in the "Star Trek" world, but apparently, earthbound grudges can still travel quite keenly through the vastness of space. "Icons Unearthed" director Brian Volk-Weiss knows that firsthand, as an interview he conducted for another project involving Gene Roddenberry’s “Wagon Train to the stars” saw "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan’s" Kirstie Alley tell a story about how William Shatner allegedly blocked her from returning for the next film in the series that gave us some of the best sci-fi movies.

00:00And then the other thing is it's and it's again, I've never looked at the movie again the same way.
00:06Wrath of Khan, other than Star Wars, is the most important movie of my entire life.
00:11Conservatively seen it two or three hundred times.
00:15So I'm interviewing Kirstie Alley and we're going back and forth, going back and forth.
00:21And she was like, yeah, you know.
00:25I the whole movie, if you watch the film carefully, you'll notice in the opening shot,
00:32I'm like, hair's back, you know, very, very serious, you know, Vulcan.
00:38And by, you know, the end of the movie, I'm like, where an eye shadow and my hair's down.
00:42And I'm like, you know, I got to be honest with you. I never noticed that before.
00:46She's like, yeah, I was this beautiful young girl. I had just gotten to L.A.
00:52I was like 20 years old and I was playing this character that like all you can see are her hands
00:59and from her neck up. And she was like, I had this great body and I was like a model.
01:04And I was just playing this character that so every day I was trying to push the line further.
01:10And I'm like, Kirstie, I am blown away. I never noticed that. She's like,
01:14you never noticed the scene where I'm in the bathroom, where I'm in a bathrobe in the elevator.
01:20And I'm like, I got to be honest with you, Kirstie, I've never thought of that before.
01:25That blows my mind. You're absolutely right. Why were you in a bathrobe? And she basically said
01:31she had been like charming hair and makeup, charming the wardrobe department, kind of
01:39implied there was something going on with Nicholas Myers, which I asked him about,
01:44and he denied completely. But basically, that's the reason why she's not in Star Trek three,
01:53because William Shatner was so mad about the whole thing, the bathrobe, everything that he
02:00made such a to do about hiring her again, that they gave her an absolutely ludicrous financial
02:08offer designed to get her to say no. So that's why she's not. So it's the first interview
02:14to the best of our knowledge, I always have to say,
02:16I believe it to be her first interview ever about Star Trek.
