00:00really doesn't want you to know that it's its 69th anniversary. Or at least it
00:04doesn't want you to make jokes about it. The park first welcomed visitors back in
00:07the summer of 1955, which means, if our math is correct, this is Disney's 69th
00:12anniversary. But you wouldn't know that from any of Disney's promos this summer,
00:16because they're instead choosing to celebrate the Road to the 70th. You know
00:20how like most people celebrate their 39th birthday as Road to 40. The park is
00:25at least selling special tickets for $69, but with tax and parking it probably
00:29comes out to a slightly less scandalous number. A lot of fans took notice of the
00:33awkward celebratory phrasing, suggesting that it was likely contrived in order to
00:37distract attention away from the fact that this year's anniversary happens to
00:40also be the name of a sexual position. And Disney probably didn't want to
00:44produce a bunch of Mickey balloons and Winnie the Pooh t-shirts with 69
00:48branded on them. Although, we all know they'd sell out in a heartbeat.
00:51Unfortunately, their method is backfiring, and now a lot of people are talking
00:55about Disneyland's 69th anniversary.
