00:00And what's interesting is that 54% of our readers tell us that the debate format is
00:05not very helpful for them.
00:06Yeah.
00:07I agree with that.
00:08What do you not like about the debate format?
00:13I have many sayings, and one of them is, no good public policy ends with an exclamation
00:17point.
00:20And so the debate format is, if you are fortunate to get the question at the right time, you
00:25get a whopping one minute and 15 seconds to answer it.
00:30If you're as a follow-up or, you know, not first, then you will get 45 seconds.
00:38And ah, for the rebuttal, a good 15 seconds.
00:43So when we are talking about very complex issues, they're not complicated, but they
00:49require a level of understanding and appreciation of the depth.
00:55Sometimes the nuance.
00:57It's just very challenging to do it on the debate stage, because the incentive on the
01:01debate stage is, you know, to get, you know, massive applause.
01:06But there are so many things that we really want to think about that are not going to
01:09elicit an applause, but certainly elicit thought.
