00:00We are talking forever chemicals.
00:04They're also known as PFAS.
00:06These man-made chemicals are used in a huge number of consumer products, from popcorn
00:11packaging to non-stain carpets and non-stick cookware.
00:14And they're called forever chemicals because they don't break down.
00:18They're also pretty concerning for scientists because we don't know too much about them
00:22and how they affect humans and the planet.
00:25In preliminary studies that just happened to the impact of forever chemicals, scientists
00:30found potential links to these chemicals and cholesterol, cancer, endocrine disruption,
00:35metabolism and immune dysfunction, liver disease, asthma, infertility, and neurobehavioral issues.
00:41That's just to name a few.
