00:00We're really proud of this season. We think the performances that the actors
00:03brought are so great this season. There's some amazing filmmaking on behalf of all
00:07of our incredible directors and we're just excited to show people.
00:09And you know the series is The Rings of Power and this is the season where we make The Rings of Power.
00:13We get to go to Oregion and do the siege of Oregion. So we're leaning on some
00:17really amazing canon events and you know I think people been anticipating this
00:20for a long time, far longer than the shows existed. So you know all that
00:24anticipation just feeds into the excitement.
00:26Obviously season one was filmed at a strange time. Was it really like night and day the way that we produced and filmed and put together these episodes?
00:35Or was it very much more of the same when we put together season two?
00:38Yeah I mean I wouldn't necessarily say more of the same. I mean anytime you do
00:41something a second time it's informed by your experience doing it the first time.
00:44So well or actually maybe like the second album where you kind of know
00:48your way around a studio now, so to speak. Like a music studio I mean. But in that
00:54respect I think you know in some ways it was smoother sometimes and some ways we
00:57knew you know where not to sweat the small stuff and where to really sweat
01:00the small stuff. And the seasons turn out in a way that we're all really excited about.
01:04Actually when you say don't sweat the small stuff, sometimes you shouldn't sweat the small stuff.
01:08Is there story beats or character moments that you guys have fought for to include?
01:14Is there something that's important to you that you managed to sneak into the story I guess?
01:18Well it's all important to us I think. And you know we're never trying to be sneaky.
01:22You know I think it's a process of prioritisation in terms of like you know
01:26what is the core thing you're trying to come across and pull off and you know
01:30hopefully every episode and every season is a little better than the last.
01:34How are we laying the groundwork for season 2? How are we telling fans that it's different from season 1 if at all?
01:39Well season 1 is all about the heroes and introducing people to the second age of Middle Earth.
01:42Season 2 is about the villains. You know Sauron ends season 1 with kind of nothing.
01:46He's like sort of cast out. And now season 2 he's got to just use his wits
01:50to set everything in motion. And really once he grabs hold of the narrative he never lets go.
01:54There's a new character to your guys' right Rory Kinnear who's joining the cast.
01:58We are introducing characters all the time and new actors. Who are you most excited to see
02:02as an actor in a new role within season 2?
02:06Well every single one of them. They're all our babies. All the characters and all the worlds.
02:10But I'll just put a special word in for Ben Daniels who plays Keirden the shipwright.
02:16He's the elf who makes the boats that send you off to the Undying Lands.
02:20And he's one of the wisest, eldest elves in Middle Earth.
02:23And Ben brought something really special to the part and I'm really excited for people to see him.
02:27He has such presence, such gravitas and you feel that he's just got this wisdom that is ageless.
02:33Forgive me I don't know what the deal, what's been signed but how many seasons of Rings of Power do we want to show off to Amazon?
02:40Oh well we've agreed to do a 50 hour mega epic. We're working on season 3 now and that's all we can say.
