00:00Hi folks, I'm Jamie Saunderson from Evening News and I'm going to talk a bit about the
00:04Cameron Toll Roundabout and its impending closure later this month. So you heard that
00:10right, the Cameron Toll Roundabout is set to close for the second time this year. It's
00:14a partial closure this time, the westbound side specifically is going to be the part
00:19that is closed and it comes just three months after the roundabout reopened after that last
00:25round of works which lasted from February to May. So Scottish Gas Network says that
00:31this round of works, this upcoming round, is going to be down to the critical repairs
00:38which are needed to gas pipes. So as I say, that's going to start on Monday August 26th
00:43and as you can all imagine, traffic disruption is expected during that time and buses will
00:51also be diverted. So for public transport and also for motorists, there's going to be
00:56disruption. Now the previous closure lasted, as I say, from February to May and that was
01:01down to a collapsed culvert which was discovered under the road and this time the traffic won't
01:07be able to approach Cameron Toll Roundabout from Lady Road, Peffermill Road or Old Dalkeith
01:11Road, although those roads will still remain open so that drivers can access them from
01:16each other. Now Scottish Gas Network has said that the purpose of this round of works is going
01:22to be the continued gas supply to the homes and businesses which surround the roundabout.
01:27They say there will be engineering challenges due to the location of the gas pipes and of
01:33course the previous project wasn't a mean feat. It involved the removal of 200-year-old masonry
01:37and the diversion of water from the power barn. And as you can imagine, many motorists have
01:43treated the news with consternation and Scottish Gas Network says that there is no ideal time
01:50to carry out these types of works but that, in effect, the work is critical and it is
01:57necessary to get on with the job. So news that I suspect won't be welcomed by too many
02:03motorists but that is a brief rundown of how traffic is going to be affected by the impending
02:11closure.
