00:00Goodbyes are never easy, but this one is proving to be particularly tricky.
00:05The dispute between Kylian Mbappé and his former club Paris Saint-Germain has moved
00:09up a gear as the player pursues legal action for the 55 million euros they owe him from
00:15the final months of his salary, as well as other bonuses which could total around 100
00:21million euros.
00:23After seven years at the club, Mbappé moved to Real Madrid this summer, yet disagreements
00:27around the circumstances of his departure pitted the star player against PSG's management
00:33and its main shareholder Qatar Sports Investments, who withheld payments from the French team
00:38captain.
00:40Amid rumours of his discontent at the time, Mbappé posted a goodbye video thanking his
00:44fellow PSG players, employees at the Parc des Princes and, above all, his fans for their
00:50loyalty and support.
00:52Yet there was no tribute to the club's directors or owners.
01:04The litigation has now been passed on to France's professional football league, according to
01:08newspaper Le Monde.
01:10Mbappé's lawyers have said they're also prepared to go to an industrial tribunal if there's
01:14no resolution from sports governing bodies.
01:17PSG maintain that their financial actions were justified and confirm that negotiations
01:23are ongoing with Mbappé and his representatives.
