A tourist who thought she just had a "high fever" discovered she had come down with a potentially fatal tropical virus.
Rosemarie Moore, 28, was on an expedition in Suriname, South America, in search of anacondas for work in April 2024 when she start to feel unwell.
On day four of her 10 day trek, Rosemarie started to get pain in both of her eyes - but she initially thought it was a headache.
But after three days of the eye she knew it was "something serious" and started getting a fever so she skipped one night of hunting.
On the last day Rosemarie ended up with a full body rash but she says she wasn't able to go to the hospital until she got back to the US - as they were in a remote location.
