Trump says he would consider Elon Musk for a cabinet position or advisory role if elected to 2nd term  Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Monday said that, if elected, he would tap Elon Musk for a cabinet or advisory role "if he would do it."   Trump also said he would consider ending a $7,500 tax credit for electric vehicle purchases, calling it "ridiculous."   "They don't go far enough and they are very expensive," Trump said in an interview with Reuters after a campaign event in York, Pennsylvania when asked about the EV credit. 00:07So what I would do is very strongly I would rescind the mandate because the mandate is ridiculous people want to be by a gasoline

00:22And what they've done is they're going to destroy our automobile industry, and I am a big fan of electric

00:28I'm a big fan of Elon and other people involved in the electric car

00:32I think an electric car is great, but it's it's

00:35somewhat limited because of the

00:37Cost and the cost is higher

00:40Because of the availability in terms of the material they're going to have to be made largely in China

00:44They're going to be made in China, and it's also it doesn't go far enough

00:49You've got to have something that can go where you don't have to recharge four times if you want to take a trip down to

00:55Washington DC which we are also going to fix and make safe

00:58But would you rescind the EV tax credit you could well we're looking at that

01:02That's a big thing, but you know tax credits and tax incentives are not generally a very good thing

01:08You know they gave it to wind and wind is putting us out of business wind is a disaster

01:12It's the most expensive form of energy there is and it is literally putting us out of business as a country

01:18They're ruining environmentally our our planes and our beautiful fields and everything else where there are oceans

01:24They're affecting our wildlife all over the place including the whale

01:28That's obviously being very seriously affected where a whale hasn't come up on shore for 50 years

01:34And now they they're losing eight nine ten in a short period of time

01:38So that it's having a huge impact environmentally, but it's also a very expensive form of energy

01:43So we will be talking about that. I'm not making any final decisions on it. I'm a big fan of electric cars

01:49but I'm a fan of

01:51Gasoline propelled cars and also hybrids and whatever else happens to come along

01:55And you can't mandate that you can only buy an electric car

01:59You know for this country to build charging stations all throughout the nation will cost anywhere from three to five

02:07Trillion dollars no country has enough money to do this

02:12Would you consider having Elon Musk have a role in the cabinet advisory position? I would he's very smart

02:21This went on for two and a half hours almost and I'm perhaps you listen, but he's a very smart guy
