Mpox Panic Hits India: Airports on High Alert as Govt Designates Top Hospitals for Outbreak Response

  • last month
The Indian government is ramping up its response to the Mpox outbreak, following the World Health Organization’s global health emergency declaration. In a move to safeguard public health, the Centre has ordered heightened vigilance at all major airports and border land ports, particularly those linked to Bangladesh and Pakistan. Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Safdarjung Hospital, and Lady Hardinge Hospital have been designated as key centers for Mpox management. The health ministry is also instructing state governments to set up similar facilities and enhance surveillance. Despite no current cases in India, the country is preparing for any potential outbreaks with upgraded testing capabilities and public awareness campaigns.
