00:04Bienvenidos a mi casa, Edie.
00:06Good to see you.
00:18This is my dining room, my formal dining room.
00:21It's one of my favorite rooms in the house,
00:24definitely, because of the detail.
00:26It is amazing ceiling.
00:28It's all hand-painted.
00:31And it brought this room to life.
00:34I think another one of the special details of the room
00:37is that tapestry is 18th century French.
00:40And I think all the colors bring together
00:44the whole mood of the room.
00:46I love to collect china.
00:48One of the most important things in entertaining
00:50is putting a lot of effort in the details,
00:53making people feel like they're eating something special,
00:56looking at something beautiful.
00:58And I think that china is what helps me achieve that.
01:02And these cabinets are perfect for that.
01:05Take a look.
01:09Wow.
01:10And this is only the beginning.
01:11I have more.
01:21And of course, another super important room is the kitchen.
01:25I'm Latin, so we love entertaining
01:28with a lot of food, a lot of friends,
01:30and we're always here.
01:31It's hard to take the people out of the kitchen,
01:33even though I made most of the room very comfortable.
01:36That was the idea when O'Hara and I decided
01:39to create all the little different rooms.
01:43But unfortunately, people still don't wanna leave
01:47the kitchen.
01:49I love the counter, the white awnings.
01:51This magnificent stove is La Cornue.
01:55I don't know anything at all about it
01:58because I do not cook.
02:00I don't want to learn to cook,
02:02but my son Manolo is great at cooking,
02:05and he said that this was what I needed in the house.
02:08So here it is.
02:10I only care that it looks amazing.
02:22Here we are at the family room,
02:24and way in the back is the formal living room.
02:27I love it because they all open to the backyard,
02:31which is my favorite thing about the house.
02:33Every room opens to the pool and the backyard,
02:35even when you're upstairs in the guest rooms.
02:38And it's also perfect that this room opens
02:41to the second floor, where all the guest rooms are,
02:45so every time something is happening,
02:47everybody can check out that they're not missing on stuff,
02:51and they just take a peek,
02:52and they decide if they want to come downstairs
02:54to join or not.
02:55And here is where we have parties,
02:59and where we sit to watch TV,
03:01and where all the drama happens.
03:05I kind of like started collecting crystal birds
03:08because I love birds, and I love crystals.
03:12And then when I learned that they existed together,
03:15I was like, oh my God, that's like my favorite thing now.
03:18So if you guys want to send me something,
03:20send me a bird made out of crystals.
03:23My whole life, one of my, how Americans say,
03:27bucket list, it was to own anything that I could afford
03:33from Fernando Botero, one of the most amazing,
03:36prolific artists in Colombia and in Latin America.
03:41And I always dreamed of having one.
03:44In 1983, he started painting the matadores,
03:47which is the bullfighters.
03:49I was still living there in 1983.
03:51I was still very young.
03:53And when I saw it, I'm like,
03:55one day maybe I'll get that one
03:58because he's known for creating
04:00these very big, voluptuous figures.
04:03But there was something about the matadores
04:05that I was very attracted to.
04:08And I still have that picture when he came out
04:11in a newspaper in my hometown in Barranquilla.
04:13And then last year I got the real one.
04:17Here it is.
04:20And this one is one of the most important
04:24corners of the house.
04:27Where are you?
04:28Here.
04:29Is where happiness leaves the bar.
04:38What do you want?
04:50So when I found this house, it was horrific.
04:53It was like a castle in Transylvania.
04:56But when I walked outside and I saw this garden,
05:00I knew this is where I wanted to live.
05:02This outdoor area is an extension of the house,
05:05which is, to me, the most special place in the house
05:09because of the energy, the colors.
05:12I drink coffee here.
05:13I bring my lunch in here.
05:15I bring my friends, meetings, everything.
05:18And there's something about this garden
05:19that is really inviting.
05:21And people come and they don't want to leave.
05:23So when that started happening,
05:25that I realized it's so difficult
05:27to get the people out of the freaking house,
05:29I realized that we had done a great job.
05:32All I want to do when I am at home
05:35is relax back here outside.
05:39And I usually sit in that corner and drink coffee
05:44and I play with my son's dog.
05:46And I mean, I'm like Don Corleone.
05:49I sit there and everybody comes and talks to me
05:53and I receive all my guests,
05:54everyone from that corner, from that couch.
05:57The pool area is super important
05:59because from every bedroom you see the pool,
06:03you see the pool house.
06:05I wanted it to give you a feeling
06:07like you're out in the Mediterranean, like in Italy,
06:11like you're in a villa, in a hotel.
06:14And it was very carefully
06:16how we decided to pick the plants,
06:19whatever was going to be created in the hill.
06:21There was nothing in the hill when I got the house.
06:24So I had to start from scratch.
06:27And I created this, a little bit of a tropical,
06:31I want to say like environment
06:33because most of these plants
06:34are very beautiful tropical plants
06:37that are not exactly supposed to be in the Mediterranean,
06:41but it made me feel a little bit like I was in Colombia.
06:55Well, and this is, you know what this is,
07:01where the good times happen.
07:02All the sleeping, eight hours.
07:06I love this bedroom.
07:07It's super cozy.
07:08It's a lot of light that comes in in the morning.
07:12It's perfect.
07:13I feel comfortable.
07:15I feel sexy.
07:17I feel everything in this bedroom.
07:19I've always had a thing for four pool beds.
07:23And I think this one is very special.
07:25I love the color.
07:26I love the textures.
07:28I thought that it was going to be perfect for the room.
07:31I think it looks great with the house and it's sexy.
07:36I love fireplaces.
07:37Even though I live in California, I hate heaters.
07:40I can't have heaters on.
07:42So when it gets a little bit chilly in the winter,
07:45I prefer to put the fireplace.
07:46Not only because the heat is better,
07:49but it's also, it makes the rooms very beautiful.
07:51The lighting is beautiful when the fire is on.
07:54Well, and that's not any fireplace.
07:56It's from the Waldorf Astoria in New York.
07:59And it was something special.
08:01The designer, O'Hara and me wanted to bring into the room
08:05and she found that.
08:06And we thought that was it.
08:08We don't need anything else.
08:09I loved working with O'Hara.
08:11She kind of saved my life
08:13because I was like in a little of a crossroads.
08:17I was, it's either I'm going to hate this house
08:20or I'm going to love this house.
08:22What am I going to do?
08:23I don't want to move in here
08:25because I don't think things are coming out the way I wanted.
08:29So finally I found her and she helped me unravel
08:33everything that was wrong with the house.
08:36And this is a little sitting area in the bedroom
08:40that is super practical
08:41because sometimes the bed is all perfect
08:43and I don't want to ruin it during the day.
08:45So what I do is that I ruin all this
08:49and I lay down here.
08:52This arch is amazing.
08:57This is definitely going to be my bedroom.
08:59I love it.
09:00I love it.
09:01I love it.
09:02I love it.
09:03This arch is amazing.
09:05This is definitely the most beautiful bathroom
09:08I have in the house.
09:10I think the combination of colors,
09:12the beige and the gray is like really unexpected.
09:16It's perfect.
09:17I mean, look at the view.
09:18Look at the bathtub, the view from the bathtub.
09:22It's perfection.
09:33And this is where I actually really live,
09:36in my closet.
09:37This is where I spend most of my time.
09:39This is like a girl's girl's dream.
09:42I was thinking about this closet for a long time
09:45because I love everything that is organized by color
09:49and Linda Cooper Smith designed
09:52this amazing, amazing closet for me.
09:55And I try to keep it as organized as you see it,
10:00but sometimes it's hard.
10:02You know how girls are.
10:03I never knew that I needed to see my bags
10:07so organized like that.
10:09I used to have them all like stocked together.
10:12So now it's very easy to know exactly what I need,
10:17but I'm still late.
10:19All this stuff in the counter is very special for me.
10:21This is something that I bought at an antique shop in Paris.
10:26And this is a picture of my brother,
10:32who passed away and my favorite cousin who passed away.
10:37So this is an important picture for me.
10:39And then this picture,
10:43it was when I was young and fresh.
10:57Bye AD, thank you for coming.
