00:00No face-to-face classes. Today, there are a lot of places in Southern Luzon due to the effect of volcanic smog or fog from the Taal Volcano.
00:09Some residents are now in trouble because they can feel the effect of the fog.
00:14Live from Batangas City, we have the first news from Paul Hernandez of GMA Regional TV. Paul?
00:22Good morning, Igan. Some residents in Batangas are experiencing pain and difficulty in breathing.
00:29But according to Batangas PDRRMO, they have no sign of being admitted to the hospital due to the volcanic smog.
00:40The impact of the volcanic smog or fog in Batangas yesterday was very visible.
00:45The tricycle drivers in Balete, Batangas had to endure it.
00:49The smoke was very bad. It entered the lungs. It's dangerous now.
00:55The lungs are aching. The smoke is coming from the volcano. We are afraid.
01:00More than 30 towns were affected by the fog based on the data of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office or PDRRMO Batangas.
01:09These include the towns surrounding the volcano.
01:12Of the 31 out of 34 municipalities that we have, there are 4 cities there.
01:19We know that the wind is very weak.
01:24Because of the effect of the fog, face-to-face classes are still suspended in some places in Batangas,
01:31including the towns of Lian, Calatagan, Tuwi, Nasugbu, Lemery, Bawan, San Juan, San Luis, Taal, Agoncillo, Balayan, Mabini,
01:42even in Tanawan City, Calacas City, and San Jose.
01:45Asynchronous or distance learning is being implemented.
01:48Face-to-face classes are also suspended in all public and private schools in the province of Laguna.
01:55Face-to-face classes are also cancelled in Amadeo, General Trias, Silang, Kawit, Imus City, and Rosario in the province of Cavite.
02:04There are also no face-to-face classes in Lubang Occidental, Mindoro today.
02:08The fog is happening because the volcanic gas of Taal Volcano is being blown up.
02:12It was trapped in the mountains, that's why it got mixed with the smoke.
02:15According to PHIVOX, the slow movement of the wind in Taal Volcano Island is a factor,
02:20that's why the volcanic gas is not being dissipated immediately.
02:22The plume of smoke reaches up to 2,400 meters.
02:28The last recorded sulfur dioxide emission in the volcano will reach more than 3,300 meters.
02:34In Taal Lake, it's not moving. It's slow.
02:38It should be strong so that the sulfur dioxide will not stay in one place.
02:43N95 face masks have been distributed to the authorities in affected areas.
02:48According to PDRRMO Batangas, there is no trace of the effects of the fog.
02:54PHIVOX has repeatedly said that this is not a sign that the Taal Volcano is being blown up, especially since there is no sign of it happening.
03:02It's a one-time thing because we haven't recorded an earthquake for the past 11 days.
03:08Face masks are being distributed to avoid leaving the house as a protection against increased volcanic gases.
03:20Igan, yesterday, it was noticed that the presence of volcanic smog or fog has decreased around here.
03:27It's brighter here in Batangas City.
03:32Thank you very much, Paul Hernandez for GMA Regional TV.
