00:00The LGU suspended their entry tomorrow due to a volcanic smog from the Taal Volcano.
00:06Some parts of Cavite are included here,
00:08particularly the houses of Alfonso, Amadeo, Silang, Cawi, Rosario, Indang, Maragondon, Tanza, Mendes,
00:17General Mariano Alvarez, Naic, Navaleta, General Emilio Aguinaldo, Magallanes,
00:24and the houses of Trece Martires, Cavite City, Imus, Das Mariñas, General Trias, and Bacoor.
00:36The face-to-face classes in Laguna are suspended.
00:40All levels, public and private.
00:44The same goes for Candelaria, Quezon, and Binangonan, Rizal.
00:52This is Oscar Oida.
00:56Smog from the Taal Volcano is spreading in many places in Batangas.
01:05The smog is very bad. It entered here in Lalamuna.
01:09There was also a smog yesterday.
01:10It's worse now.
01:15Lalamuna is in pain. The volcano is making smoke.
01:19We are afraid.
01:20More than 30 towns and villages are affected
01:24according to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office,
01:29including the towns and villages surrounding the volcano,
01:31where face-to-face classes and distance learning classes have been suspended.
01:37Of the 31 out of 34 municipalities that we have,
01:41there are 4 cities.
01:43We know that the weather is really bad.
01:49The smog happened because the volcanic gas of the Taal Volcano
01:53was trapped in the Himpapawit.
01:55That's why there's a lot of smoke.
01:56The wind is slow.
01:58That's why the smog that we observed in Batangas
02:01is because of the slowing speed
02:04which prevented the sulfur dioxide from dissipating quickly.
02:08According to Education Secretary Sani Angara,
02:11the authorities are giving the affected towns in Calabarzon and Metro Manila
02:16to suspend face-to-face classes
02:19if there's no warning from the LGU.
02:21They can shift to alternative learning modalities
02:25such as modular and online learning.
02:27But according to PHIVOLCS,
02:29not only is the smog affecting Metro Manila,
02:32but also the effects of local pollutants
02:34that are caused by the slow wind.
02:37This is the same as the smog in Batangas.
02:40Because the wind is slow,
02:43not only in Batangas but also in Metro Manila,
02:46the wind is slow.
02:47That prevented the local pollutants from dispersing vertically
02:51and causing them to stay at a lower level.
02:54DOH warns that if there's smog or fog,
02:58avoid going outside.
03:00Close all doors and windows.
03:02Cover your nose and wear a N95 face mask.
03:06And drink plenty of water.
