00:00The inkjet printer is such a genius invention, but it's a pity that this device is still monopolized every day.

00:18The core lies in the nozzle.
00:20There are a large number of nozzles distributed on it, each thinner than a hair.
00:24The nozzle is designed to be wide at the top and narrow at the bottom, which creates negative pressure.

01:17So how does one use four inks to print colorful photos?
01:21You might think of using a mix of red, green, and blue.
01:24Let's do a small experiment first.
01:26If you use a red and green flashlight to add and mix, you will get yellow,
01:31but if you mix red and green ink, you will get a very turbid yellow.
01:35In fact, this is the difference between additive color mixing and subtractive color mixing.
01:40For self-illuminating shades, mixing the two colors increases the brightness, but the ink itself does not emit light.
01:47We can see the ink because light hits the ink and then reflects into the human eye.

02:29So obviously, the three primary colors of red, green, and blue cannot be used directly in the printer.
02:35The solution is easy. Just replace red, green, and blue with their complementary colors.
02:40Cyan, magenta, and yellow.
02:42When the nozzle releases a drop of cyan ink and then quickly releases a drop of yellow ink,
02:48the two mix together to create an intoxicating green color.
02:52The diameter of the mixed droplet is only 0.05 millimeters,
02:56and a variety of colors can be obtained in this way.
02:59So what should you do if you want a lighter green?
03:01In fact, you can get a lighter green by increasing the spacing,
03:04which will make it appear darker, but the spacing is always limited.
03:08What if you want a darker green?
03:09This is when black ink comes in handy.
03:11Mixing black into green ink will result in dark green.
03:14The more black you mix in, the darker the green will be.
03:18So as long as you use the four colors of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black,
03:22you can print up to millions of colors.
