00:00Kasia, it's amazing, you're the Tour de France winner, how emotional is it?
00:08It's so crazy to be honest because the whole stage was such a crazy rollercoaster.
00:15I had a really bad moment on Glantion and then on the descent I was able to kind of
00:22rebuild myself, refresh and I was so lucky to actually have Lucinda Brenn, I think we
00:28also have two canes from us to say thank you to Trek because they did a great job also
00:33for us, bringing us closer to Jamie and Paulina and on Alpe d'Huez I knew that I just had
00:39to pace myself smart and give my best in the last 5k's just to like minimalize the gap
00:47as much as possible and to be honest for a second I lost the faith that I could still
00:52do it and then in the radio they were screaming so much in the last 2k's so to be honest
00:59I've gone through such a terrible time on this climb, like I hated everything to then
01:04like arriving at the finish line and learning that I won Tour de France which is insane,
01:10it's so mind-blowing because there are so many people I'm really thankful and grateful
01:14for starting with my husband, my family, my whole team, my coach Nate who put a lot of
01:21work to prepare me for that and quite often he's not really mentioned so a big thank you
01:26for him especially now and again my team, my husband, my family, my friends, this victory
01:32goes to so many people that contributed to that victory.
01:36What about all today, it was an epic stage, what did you think at the exact moment you
01:40were dropped in Glendale?
01:42Oh I definitely lost my confidence, I felt terrible at that moment mentally and physically,
01:50it wasn't easy yet as I said on the descent all of the sudden I got my power, it's so
01:55weird how sometimes it happens that like you crack but then you just need a moment of relaxation
02:01and you get your power back so I just like ate everything I had in my pocket, drunk a
02:07lot of fluids and then I was like okay I'm ready to go again.
02:13You won for almost nothing, few seconds, do you realize you made history today?
02:17To be honest life is insane because last year I lost a second by like this much so
02:22now winning by a couple seconds I feel like it's all thanks to God who always has a plan
02:28for me and as life goes like there's always something happening for certain reasons so
02:33I think that last year, last year's third place was there to reward me with this victory
02:39and same as you know two weeks ago I was so disappointed getting stuck behind to crash
02:45during Olympics and now due to crash I got some extra time, hey good job, you too, such
02:53a great ride, yeah so yeah as I said there's something for something else and I feel like
03:02during this week all the stars aligned for my team and for myself so yeah of course we
03:09never wish anyone any sort of bad luck but it happens to everyone, this time it didn't
03:15happen to us so I'm very grateful for that, thank you so much Kasia, enjoy it, thank you.
