A dad who built a Shaun of the Dead-inspired traditional English boozer in his back garden has been crowned winner of Britain's Pub Shed of the Year.

Kev Marchant, 55, spent six weeks and £10,000 constructing the stunning mini DIY pub at his home in Eastleigh, Hamps.

The Winchester comes complete with a beautifully old-fashioned ornate bar, poker table, dart board, beer bumps, vintage décor and a stained glass ceiling.

00:00My name's Kev and this is the Winchester. We started the build late 2020 and we finished it
00:08about five weeks later so it was officially open kind of February 2021. I'd have to say the bar's
00:15my favourite piece. You know finding this was incredible really you know when you look at it
00:20closely the craftsmanship involved. I was scrolling the internet, eBay you know and
00:27no joy. Spoke to a couple of companies, again not much joy and then I stayed in bed one morning
00:35and looked on Gumtree of all places and there it was. So messaged in quickly and
00:42arranged a visit to have a look and yeah picked it up I think three days later.
00:48It come in about six pieces so we brought all the pieces in. Then we put the frame
00:55behind the dartboard and behind the actual bar and insulated it and boarded it and then
01:02the bar went in and then literally everything else was built around it. You know the carpet,
01:08the tiles, everything, the ceiling. You know making the top three you know getting the email
01:15to say I've made it I was like oh wow. It wasn't something I set out to do but like I say now
01:21we're in the final three you know I'd be lying if I said you know I don't want to win you know.
01:27But at the same time some of them are absolutely kind of remarkable you know.
01:33Being in the top three is just yeah brilliant.
